INSTALLING “cabinet and drawer lock” (TRICKY) gate house 0252956

If you’ve never put one of these in, there’s a few tricks to making sure the key is going in the right direction. There’s a little part that will restrict the movement a quarter of an inch and another one that you could choose to go in entire 180°. These rarely go in without modding the lock arm or the inside of the cabinet. One thing you could do is use a right angle screw driver instead of the extra hole in the tab.

How would you make this work to lock 2 cabinet doors with a small centre bar

Suggestions? Hi. I'm installing (doing bosses "honey-do" work) cam locks into existing particle board cabinets (3/4 inch) that have laminate surfaces (slippery). So my washer with the little grabbers don't have anything to bite into to prevent spinning. Don't have drill press to drill elongated holes. Can't professionally over-size cut out just the laminate surfaces. Any suggestions? The workmanship will be in full public view in professional medical offices.

Those wood grabber washers (CompX calls it a spur washer) eventually loosen up especially in soft wood...Screwing a plate with a Double D hole on the other side works forever....

It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better th-cam.com/users/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

Nice job making the wrong length cam lock work...I would have reordered the correct sized longer length cam lock (They come 1/2" to 2" Lengths by CompX).
