@@anonim9862its tongue in cheek... but I stand by the sentiment 😂 In that second half Arsenal took off their attacking talisman, played a 630 formation, gave up having any threat on the counter, decided not to even play for territory or set pieces, faked injuries and even had physios running on the pitch while the ball was still in play... and they conceded! 😅 They've probably got the best squad in the league to play percentage football with 10 men, but they chose to roll over and give City a training drill 🤷♂️
Surely Walker's responsibility as a captain is to relay what the ref explained to him to the rest of the team? If he was warned that the next foul would be a yellow, is he expected to sprint back into position without relaying that to his team? If so then surely its fair if city's players don't get carded since their captain was required to sprint into position.
Feels pretty good seeing City celebrate a draw at home against a team with 10 men. Even though we couldn't see the win out, still feels like a considerable shift.
No mention of actively blocking the keeper for Arsenal's second goal? I thought that was going to be actually called this season? Or have the refs forgotten about that too, perhaps only when it comes to Assna.
You could argue a player anywhere in the box is blocking the goal keeper from getting to where the ball may end up. Its kind of hard to prove, if the ball is put in near the goal does it mean a player can't go for it because the keeper will be there

Haaland sold Raya by stepping over the ball to make it look like he was going across him before using the outside of his boot to slide it low. Raya was wrong footed and couldn't get a leg out or down in time after that

This stupid rule change has cost us 4 points already this season, we could have had 15 out of 15 so far. I'm curious to know who was so bothered last season about players kicking the ball that the referees have adopted such a no non sense policy towards it? I never noticed that kinda thing being talked about even once last season, yet there is this joke of a no non sense policy about kicking the ball away. You gotta be kidding me with this absolutely stupid rule change, arteta said it, at this rate we're gonna see 100s of games with a red card, why do the referees want to be the protagonists in a job where there job is to keep things moving and never be noticed, yet they keep coming up with utterly ridiculous rules and then say it's the law while making absurd decisions.

Love your point about Arteta taking pages from Moyes's book. I have been saying it whole of last season as well - people call Arteta mini Pep or whatever - but Arteta took as much from years under Moyes as he did from years under Guardiola. And it's not a criticism or a dig either.

The only team that can break Arsenal down is Madrid , they got players who don't need to be in certain positions to be effective can combine and interchange from literally anywhere

It hurts!!!

no, as an arsenal fan im not “delighted” with this result. its better than a loss, for sure, but to play the way we did in the 2nd half and lose the 3 points at the death like that is rough. as long as we kick on and get a result against leicester and continue to keep the pace with city then yeah its a decent result, but it feels like arsenal could have kept the win, and if last season is an indicator then getting wins against city when its there to be had is crucial. arsenal *need* to win the home game against them. side note, this game has truly revealed how much of a shitty ogre haaland is, and how easily rattled citys 115 fans are.
I always like the analysis on this channel and breakdown pf play. But i can't agree on the Trossard sending off. I do agree that time wasting and kicking the ball away should warrant yellow cards, but when the referee isnt punishing other players for it....why is he so quick to brand a yellow card and ultimately a sending off! This was always going to impact the game negatively....the same referee who didn't book Kovacic twice last season for 2 yellow/red card challenges because he didn't want to negatively impact the game. Again, there is no consistency, and it appears to me that they seem to be aiming at arsenal any chance possible. Call me delusional if you wish, but the same happened when Rice got sent off against brighton, pedro had smashed the ball after going out of play (aka, time wasting and kicking the ball away) and never recieved punishment. So what are the excuses here from PGMOL for no consistency? What the referee should have done was give Trossard a final warning. Anything else and you're off. It would have been much fairer considering both Silva and Doku didn't get punished for kicking the ball away/time wasting, and it wouldn't have negatively impacted the game for the second half. To me its clear as day that they are targeting Arsenal, and i imagine its because Arsenal called them out last season. Which has clearly hit a nerve with them.
You forgot to add the ref to Man City’s roster. Time added after 7 minutes of extra time is robbery. And that was even more added time than the first half which had multiple injuries three goals and a red card. That only had 6 extra minutes. Trifling refs. Disastrous. And I can’t stand either team.
I'm sick to death of Arsenal making themselves the victim of referees every week. I agree that there's huge problems with the consistency of referees but continued petulance during games and complaining after them isn't going to change a thing for the better. Michael Oliver had every right to send Trossard off and Arsenal did extremely well but were ultimately very lucky to come away with a point. I get Arteta looks like he's trying to instill a siege mentality but from the outside looking in it looks more out of anger and emotion than control.
@@AL98O8kJH mate stats can only reveal so much about a game but 77% possession and 33 shots to 5 is pretty telling. So, man city seconds earlier delay with no yellow. Trossard passes the ball to martenelli as the ref blows the whistle and its a red. Twice in 3 games for arsenal is nuts especially in a game as big as this. I know im more of a neutral than the average fan but wouldnt every game be more entertaining with less red cards. THat draw is basically season over.
all things considering the cards and the goals the refs decision finishing that game 1-1 a sharing points allows the league to play catch up on last years 1st and 2nd arsenal have learnt to park the bus when needed 10 men winning the game, no need to attack and get caught on the counter
Im surprised noone is talking about the blocking of ederson on the corner. It silly thats allowed because at that point let’s just form a circle around the keeper and block his path so it’s a goal every time. Ridiculous
Serious question, if the arsenal players were standing still and didnt move when there was contact, is that a problem? Martinelli definitely was there to make life hard for Ederson, but does he have to actively try and get out of his way?
Brother… Ederson is a premier league keeper, big boy, and he did absolutely nothing to even attempt to get that ball. Martinelli stood still and Ederson just let it happen. Every single goal city concede they storm the ref and have some dumbass reason it wasn’t a goal. Ederson was really poor, same as walker.
Arsenal don't play football, they play anti-football. They time waste with fake injuries and cramp, they complain, they block and delay set pieces, they stand on the GK at corners.
As an Arsenal fan I am no where near happy enough. Not at our performance but the fact that after the anxiety and torture of thst game we only came out with a point. I doubt any arsenal fan was happy after that game
To all the Arsenal haters I see on the comments here, including that utter twat Bernardo Silva - please keep on. You simply don't matter. Proud of this Arsenal team that went at it. Absolutely love your content been subscribed for years. But this 21min video had way too many ads for me 2 at start 4 during and 2 at the end. Felt like way too much.
Don't think you're being fair on Walker with the first goal, Oliver called him to the halfline to discuss something and then he's ready to blow the whistle before he's back to his proper positioning. Arsenal started the run up when they saw Oliver was readying to resume play and the freekick was timed on the whistle which is fair play, but Oliver should let a defender get back to his position if he's the one calling him out of position to begin with
If there was ever an argument for a "sin bin" in football, it would be for stupid crap like that red. Now, I dont think that was a red, I dont think he kicks the ball away AFTER the ref blows for the foul. We are talking about a fraction of a second here. BUT, according to the rules that (remember, fraction of a second) is a red, now obviously, this particular rule is impossible to enforce in any sort of "consistent" manner because you would end every game with 16 player. So, putting a player on the sideline for 5 minutes wouldn't ruin the game like a red does for what is essentially a "harmless foul."
he should've got the yellow for the foul anyway so who cares, both the foul and booting the ball away = second yellow, obviously. no to mention the fact trossard did not have a split second to react, he knew he made the foul and he knew the ref was going to blow the whistle, hence why he booted the ball the way he did
What he "knew" or didn't "know" is irrelevant, until the ref actually blows the whistle the game is still going and the fact that the time from the the whistle blowing and Trossard actually hitting the ball was essentially in the same moment. As far as the foul goes, yeah, that could have been deemed yellow, but the "kicking the ball away" was not.
@@hssIcelandits only irrelevant if you isolate it from the context of the situation. Arsenal soaking pressure hoping to make it to half time looking to break up play, Trossard not even looking to get at the ball just runs straight through Bernardo so he knows its a foul and he’s going to hear the whistle he just didn’t hit it in to orbit quickly enough. You can’t just put it in a vacuum out of context and even if you did it was still after the whistle. Theres literally no valid reason why the second yellow is undeserved no matter how you try and twist your perspective.
@@Itzxkazermy problem isn’t the fact that trossard gets the yellow. It’s the inconsistency regarding the booking. Szoboslai, Joao Pedro, and even doku in this same game, have all escaped yellow cards for the same infraction. You can’t pick and choose when to apply the law. Not to mention Michael Oliver not sending off kovacic last year because he didn’t want to ‘ruin’ the game. I just want the rules to apply to everyone and not only us. I have never seen a non arsenal player get a second yellow for kicking the ball away.
James got pretty much everything wrong in this video. It wasn't "dark arts" for the first Arsenal goal. Kyle Walker is summoned by Oliver and as he then relays to his team what Oliver told him, the game is allowed to restart. That's Oliver playing for Arsenal, that's not Arsenal being smart that's the ref forcing a player out of position that leads to a goal. Trossard is sent off for kicking the ball away not for tackling Silva. For Arsenals second goal 2 people literally just go in to stop Ederson from going up, it's a clear foul and it's easy for Gabriel to score headers if the keeper is allowed to be fouled.

You have zero taste.
@@anonim9862its tongue in cheek... but I stand by the sentiment 😂
In that second half Arsenal took off their attacking talisman, played a 630 formation, gave up having any threat on the counter, decided not to even play for territory or set pieces, faked injuries and even had physios running on the pitch while the ball was still in play... and they conceded! 😅
They've probably got the best squad in the league to play percentage football with 10 men, but they chose to roll over and give City a training drill 🤷♂️
@@jacklane3679 lol, the squad could play decent football against a lot of teams in the league with 10 men, but away against city? use your head lmfao
@@alfieee2279they could’ve if they’d shown some balls. He didn’t and got stung. That’s why he won’t win the league
Savinho fit like a glove to City; I love this fella
Almost like he was already in city groups farm system before and no one else had a chance to sign him 😂
Let's give respect to Spurs. They played better against Arsenal without needing a sending off.
PGMOL have allowed this for almost a year mate it's a bit ridiculous but that's the rule same as sending players off for kicking a ball
@@bna919 There was a lot of talk in the summer that they were going to start disallowing these goals... Guess it was all talk.
You could argue a player anywhere in the box is blocking the goal keeper from getting to where the ball may end up. Its kind of hard to prove, if the ball is put in near the goal does it mean a player can't go for it because the keeper will be there
@@CHILLIFLAMES I can't tell if you're arguing that Martinelli was going for the ball (whilst not even looking at the ball) or if you've just dribbled all over your keyboard lad.
@gungrthespear3543 wow 👌 your just bitter 🤣. All I said was its hard to prove, I'm not even a arsenal fan. Since you feel so cheated, though I'd like to ask your thoughts on how haaland finished the match on the field, as he ran upto and shouted in the refs face after the first arsenal goal. Which should be a yellow and his unsporting celebration of the stones goal by throwing the ball at a players head. ????? Guess man city was really treated bad in the match ?
Very proud of my Arsenal!! Very proud!
I think Arteta will prevail and I hope it is because he will rotate players.
Arteta is a good manager.
Haaland sold Raya by stepping over the ball to make it look like he was going across him before using the outside of his boot to slide it low. Raya was wrong footed and couldn't get a leg out or down in time after that
Great video James. Have to say though, the Havertz pass stat is a complete lie. He completed one or two. 😂 Not much better but still no idea why opta had him down as no passes placed
So you admit it's a rule yet complain when your players break that rule and as such are punished for it? Really??
@@lawrencebaker1811It's a stupid rule.
@@lawrencebaker1811We complain because in both games where we had players sent off for it, our opponents did the exact same thing and didn’t get carded.
@@lawrencebaker1811It's because in the same games the opponents do the same thing and they don't get booked for it, it's the inconsistency. Also by the letter of the law, Veltman already kicked it so the ball was in play when Rice nudged it
Timber passed the ball to saka creating arsenals first corner.
EA does not even allow a 6 at the back formation , Arteta is so progressive
Belter either way, but to me looks like Calafiori meant to cross and got the angle wrong. @ Me Arsenal boys
Love your point about Arteta taking pages from Moyes's book. I have been saying it whole of last season as well - people call Arteta mini Pep or whatever - but Arteta took as much from years under Moyes as he did from years under Guardiola. And it's not a criticism or a dig either.
Kinda sad, James won't be able to say as it is now he'll have to tow the company line
Elaborate please. Who is James employer nowadays ? That won't allow him speak

You might be right there, Luck FC vs Stoke City, a game for the ages, it will be the most boring game to watch this season with a random penalty awarded to Luck FC with Mbappe converting to win the match 1-0
That haaland finish was a carbon copy of Jacksons finish against West ham with his weak foot. Totally takes the keeper by surprise with its unorthodox technique
What are you talking about dude, I think I speak for all Gooners when I say we're absolutely gutted, note stoked or buzzing. Think about it for a second James! Yes, a point is a good result overall, especially in the circumstances, but we were so close to coming out of the Etihad with a victory for the first time in almost 10 years and pulling off one of the most sensational victories in the three and half decades I've been watching Arsenal, and we had it snatched away from us on practically the last action of the game. It hurts!!!
Obviously we’re gutted conceding in the last min but we can still be insanely happy with the way the team performed and our chances of winning the league this season

Arsenal killed the game, they didn't have to play like Stoke in the second half
They don't ever have to do it, but they usually do. Arteta evolving into a rich Pulis
no, as an arsenal fan im not “delighted” with this result. its better than a loss, for sure, but to play the way we did in the 2nd half and lose the 3 points at the death like that is rough. as long as we kick on and get a result against leicester and continue to keep the pace with city then yeah its a decent result, but it feels like arsenal could have kept the win, and if last season is an indicator then getting wins against city when its there to be had is crucial. arsenal *need* to win the home game against them.
side note, this game has truly revealed how much of a shitty ogre haaland is, and how easily rattled citys 115 fans are.

Dyche and Allardyce play more entertaining football then Arteta and they don’t spend 700m
You forgot to add the ref to Man City’s roster. Time added after 7 minutes of extra time is robbery. And that was even more added time than the first half which had multiple injuries three goals and a red card. That only had 6 extra minutes. Trifling refs. Disastrous. And I can’t stand either team.
if arsenal player did not roll around the grass everyime and faking cramps perhaps there will be less OT
There’s so much stoppage after the injury time was announced, city deserved more added minutes from all the time wasting
He can't say that
He is part of the system now
I'm sick to death of Arsenal making themselves the victim of referees every week.

Fair play to Arsenal for getting into the lead but they went into a shell after losing Trossard and never had any intention of getting out of it.
But I don't expect Arsenal fans to agree.
So, man city seconds earlier delay with no yellow. Trossard passes the ball to martenelli as the ref blows the whistle and its a red.

Im surprised noone is talking about the blocking of ederson on the corner. It silly thats allowed because at that point let’s just form a circle around the keeper and block his path so it’s a goal every time. Ridiculous
Or defend
Serious question, if the arsenal players were standing still and didnt move when there was contact, is that a problem? Martinelli definitely was there to make life hard for Ederson, but does he have to actively try and get out of his way?
Brother… Ederson is a premier league keeper, big boy, and he did absolutely nothing to even attempt to get that ball. Martinelli stood still and Ederson just let it happen.
Every single goal city concede they storm the ref and have some dumbass reason it wasn’t a goal. Ederson was really poor, same as walker.

So u want a Gk to be given a full yard perimeter in corner kicks ,lol
How they did it? 8-2-0 formation and being Set Piece FC (which includes having multiple people fouling/blocking the keeper on every set piece).

Arsenal need to go on a run. they have easy games until liverpool.
terrible explainations, sounds like a third rate supply teacher.
@@hssIceland wrong
Thomas Frank knows how to win at Etihad

Don’t think I agree with them hammering us going into half time felt we’re were more ontop
