@@Symbiot7 sometimes he miskicks them but that's cuz he is actually trying to do a crazy level 99 technique corner... as he did twice in a row now... people don't get the level of technique requires to deliver these corners
No one will talk about him but Martineli was incredible on the night. In the low block he held back walker and other defenders to prevent the counter. He applied pressure throughout the game and never stopped running. Not to mention the positional awareness to switch from a winger to a fullback in seconds. Really think we struggled a lot more after he came off, would’ve loved another 10 minutes of him on the pitch
Martinelli was immense, got an assist and worked tirelessly. Left side flank looks much more steadier this season, last year it wasnt stable. Hes now got califiori and timber. Saka gets less pressure to constantly attack now. Can focus on bagging more assists from corners 😂
People talk about his lack of goals in the past season, but he does a lot more work than that. Big reason why Trossard scores from the bench a lot of times is because of Martinelli tiring out the opposition right back.
One of his finest performances for Arsenal. He defended better than you could reasonably expect a winger to in that situation, was really the only one to carry the ball anywhere away from the penalty area and when he did he was always very quick to track back and defend again. There were a lot of great performances from Arsenal that game but Martinelli is MOTM for me.
I love you Adam. I watch other channels and I look on twitter (sadly) but there isn’t anyone as entertaining, consistently right and nuanced as you. What a game!
Oliver had taken a much more lenient approach a week earlier, when Dominic Szoboszlai committed the same offence. Szoboszlai was also on a yellow card when he committed a foul against a Nottingham Forest player, before launching the ball into the penalty area. He avoided a yellow card. Looking at both incidents frame-by-frame, there were 1.07 seconds between the whistle hitting Oliver’s mouth and Trossard making contact with the ball. By contrast, there were 1.13 seconds between Oliver’s whistle and Szoboszlai’s kick. So Szoboszlai had slightly more time to react, yet Oliver decided not to punish him, only showing a yellow to the Arsenal player.
Both Arsenal goals should’nt have stood. No Arsenal fans want to talk about it. Arsenal has even fouling Gk and players every f corner . Referee love them and they always get away with it
I'm an Arsenal fan, but I appreciate your take on the refereeing in the game. It was very well thought out like most of your content. I will say what drives many Premier League fans mad is the inconsistency in the application of rules by the PGMOL referees. The only thing they've been consistent on is being inconsistent.
This is basically the right take, last year it was Wolves, now its Arsenal with how bad the refs are the decisions will always be inconsistent. There will always be a team shafted more than others as thats how luck works, teams that are challenging such as Liverpool and Arsenal are much more likely to notice as every point matters. Man city dont notice as many as the style of play means "lesser" teams dont have the ability to put them in that situation but even than a really bad call vs a Villa will be noticeable and costly. But theres a hidden factor, i remember an old interview from a ref about Arsenal during the 02-04 period where even the smaller players were 6ft and its intimidating to everyone including the refs. So they didnt mean to but refs would try and stamp there authority on the game thus the more intimidating players would get more cards. So if you look at modern Arsenal how many of them are really big strong guys? Trosserd made 2 fouls in that game and got carded for both hes 5-10 Harland is is like 6-4 superstar i know who id rather card. So when you got a game like that with so many yellows that should and needed to be dished out most that arnt are to the bigger players. Hell even a smaller kid before his debue got carded over those guys. The ref in that game was scared and it showed how did only the smallest players get booked? and Ederson a GK who is usually standing alone. Even Raya didn't get a card in that 2nd half.
The heartbreaking thing about the City equaliser is that I wholeheartedly believe that if Timber was still on the pitch, that Grealish 1v1 never happens, and we win 2-1.
i take back everything i've said or implied about Raya being MADE by his 2 center-backs - has had some massive saved through the start of the season. On that last goal he's just unfortunate. I remember watching the replays and thinking "why did Partey drift out - grealish was marked by kai and had someone to support in case he got beat - watching such a long back line with a few bodies floating to harrass anyone on the ball was really fascinating to watch
Arsenal fan here. Fair play, my fave vid of yours yet. Your take on the referee aspect is top, top quality - it's nice to have good, neutral analysis like this to keep tribal emotions in check. Keep it up lad.
One thing I would say about Arsenal's equaliser is that the reason the free kick was taken so far away from where the foul was committed, was that Bernardo Silva dribbled it there, while delaying the restart. He should have got a yellow by the letter of the law 🤨
I appreciate your opinion on Oliver's officiating at the end. As an Arsenal fan, it just seems like there is an eagerness to strictly apply the delaying the restart in ways that I have yet to see other teams punished for. On the quick FK that led to the goal, only thing I'd point out there is that the ball is ahead of the spot where the Arsenal player is fouled only because it's carried away by a City player. But I do see the point that Walker is called over & then the whistle is blown a bit prematurely. But point being I do think both sets of supporters could heap more blame on their players' role in all of this. Great video as usual!
Re: Walker. The man jogged and I mean jogged SLOWLY to his position. It goes to show how Walker and his Man City team doesn’t take Arsenal seriously and they were burned.
it's probably called on arsenal cuz they have the most avg time delayed out of any team in the league. find it on opta they simply waste the most time so there's more opportunities for them to get called for it
Yep, it was Bernardo Silva who dribbled it away and, if there was any consistent application of the rules, he would've been carded. That rule only seems to apply to Arsenal though
"Does [Doku] deliberately stop the taking of a free kick? Yes he does, but the free kick wasn't going to be taken from there. The ball had to move back there." You could argue the same thing applied to Declan Rice's second yellow. If you look at the actions after foul on Partey that led to Arsenal's equalizer, Bernardo Silva dribbled the ball 10 yards up the pitch after the whistle. No yellow card given, by the way. Arsenal kicked the ball when Oliver blew his whistle. Kyle Walker was in position, but not ready when the free kick was taken. It was not Arsenal's responsibility to wait until he was.
You could also argue Trossard wasn't delaying a restart because Silva was still on the floor clutching his face AND the referees next action was to blow for half time.
"It was not Arsenal's responsibility to wait until he was." Correct. It was the responsibility of the ref, who literally ordered him out of position for a conference.
@@christopherlorance1320just that one slip up allowed him through. I’ve not seen Arsenal get pulled out of shape like that before - looked like a Ricco error initially unfortunately. I think with Marino playing we wouldn’t have lost that.
The fact that Doku’s delay of game isn’t a yellow because the free kick spot was a few yards back, sounds oddly familiar to the situation against Brighton, where the player kicks the ball 3 yards forward into Declan, then proceeds to boot him in the ankle before the brandishes a second yellow for Declan. Again, it just seems that Arsenal players are refereed harder but maybe we’re all just making things up
The thing with doku is the ref literally points to where he wants the free kick to take place and doku passes it there, even when arsenal player were like “waaah he kicked it away” the ref was like “take the free kick from there”
cmon, Rice sticks his foot into the way for his second yellow. If he didn't move into the way of the Brighton player then I don't think the ref would have gave him a card.
It brought so much heat because of last season Olivier's refereeing of City vs Arsenal game. It is just too much for a game that might be a decisive for a title..
The guy is just corrupt. One of 4 PGMOL refs who received money from a company that City’s chairman is on the board of. Webb should have done something about it in 2023 when it came to light. But maybe he’s dirty too? Who knows.
And when they make a crime documentary about PGMOL FC's crumbling into Wanarama, they'll call it 115 Steps to Sunday Football. Prem is very obviously a fixed league. It's been obvious for a long time, now it's just at Calciopoli levels.
Time wasting from the first minute, all players defending in the box, constantly fouling City players, pretending to be injured, scoring with those "tactics".... Wimbledon would be embarrassed, and this is Arsenal with pretensions of being title challengers
Leave him alone guys. It’s their only way to cope against succeeding a goal in the last second of injury time that they purposely gave to us with all their time wasting.
Arsenal are just crying babies. Defending for 47 minutes with all 10 men now coming here to talk rubbish. Man up arsenal those are tactics that only small teams come up with
Trossard was absolutely playing it to Martinelli, he looks right at him. He tries to stop mid kick and that’s why it didn’t look like a pass. 1 second after the whistle hits his lips, .5 seconds after the sound of the whistle starts. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.
@@powerrangers16712 that bald fraud! But I thought we agreed to never talk about that day again. You have to hear every whistle and respond instantly, but only if you’ve got a cannon on your kit. Otherwise, have a bit of a kick around.
He knew he just barged into Bernardo though and no chance was that not a foul so why is he “trying to play a pass”. Arsenal players clearly have this arrogance about them that they won’t be sent off Also the fact the 10 men led to incredible defending doesn’t mean city wouldn’t have scored 1 or more with 11 v 11 they were dominant for most of the match 11 v11 and god knows what would have happened had they not been hacking Rodri
@@nikolasmav8842 that is fair, but your taught to never assume a foul, always play through the whistle. I don’t want yellow cards for this nonsense, I want common sense, it’s ruining the game. I have no respect for anyone pretending this a good rule and is being fairly enforced. Everything about it stinks. If someone actually delays an advantage, yes. For me, only Jao Pedro’s was worthy of a yellow card. None of it is applied fairly, it’s only “letter of the law” if there’s a cannon on your kit.
Yeah, players should start doing this more often and when hauled up by the ref/pgmol/var/whatever say "well you cleared Haarland so wheres the problem"?😕
Playing with a back 6 was smart. What's the point of pressing Walker and Dias? They are so shit on the ball they should be motm for Arsenal considering the number of balls they sent either to row Z or straight into Raya's arms.
Genuinely felt that Man City didn't deserve anything from this game. I don't know if I've ever been more proud of Arsenal's composure and discipline than I was throughout that gruelling second half-the equaliser was a bit of luck that City absolutely did not deserve. They didn't create anything at all for over 50 minutes, and Arsenal defended-to a man-like giants. Between Rice's red card against Brighton and Trossard's in this game, my concern is that Arsenal are going to be nailed for delayed restarts in a way that no other club will be-it's last season all over again. If you'd asked me on Sunday morning, I would've taken this result, but after watching how heroically Arsenal dug in and held out, settling for a draw is gutting. At least there's some solace in the thought that Rodri-who mocked us for being pleased last season after the 0-0 draw and said we lacked City's mentality-could be out for the rest of the season.
😂😂😂 you call yourself football analyst 😂😂😂if man city didn't deserve that late goal that's crazy just imagine 10 men defending for 47 minutes completely doing nothing Zero attempts zero creativity just defending and here you are writing all these rubbish don't even blame the red card the player was stupid to kick the ball after the ref blew the whistle even after doing such a stupid tackle against Bernardo. Please stop analysing football go for cricket
The kick was within a second of the whistle. Biomechanically it’s unlikely he’d have had the capability to alter his action. As for desert, well, desert’s got nothing to do with it I suppose but Arsenal a man down did restrict City to less than an xG until the last minute of the the longest half of football with the most ball in play time in the league this season. They’ll think they deserved it.
@danielseifu1172 we didn't care that he was injured, but we didn't celebrate that he was injured, injury isn't a joke regardless of the player. This arsenal player clearly stated he was pleased that Rodri is out for the season quote on quote
As an Arsenal fan, I would be much more understanding about Trossard getting a second yellow for the foul rather than kicking the ball away. He has 1 second to react to a whistle which he has probably already decided to try to pass it down the field. Then when he does hear the whistle he probably just doesn't place the pass as accurately as possible. Or another thing is he might not have even been sure the referee did blow their whistle, as the stadium was fairly noisy and the crowd (being at Man City and it was a foul against a Man City player) will often whistle before the referee. But I'm so proud of the way we stuck in until the very end, and it's just the timing of Man City's second goal that is heartbreaking. If it had come in the earlier in the second half (70-80 minutes), we would all be super pleased with the draw being 10 vs 11, but that it came in the last minutes of the game was just so heartbreaking
They were dominating to be fair, because they created more shots and were forcing Arsenal to play in the areas they would have preferred not to be in. Unlike Tottenham who were a bit toothless, City were putting Arsenal under a lot of pressure, which Arsenal handled pretty well up until that last moment.
You've clearly never heard the term smash and grab. Not saying that's what arsenal did, but that's how you get dominated yet come away with the points/half 🤪
I think your take on Michael Oliver's decisions that game is the best I've seen anywhere. You've actually changed my mind on it because your explanation honestly just makes so much more sense than anything anyone else is saying about it. Genuinely, good on you for taking time to actually think about it and look at it from different perspectives, because these things tend to cause so much chaos that all discussion eventually devolves into petty fighting. Yet another reason I absolutely love this channel 🤝
Agree about Walker, but he's not alone in paying too much attention to the officials in this and many other games. Many throw a hand up in the air to signal an off-side instead of focusing on the play that is still on-going. The players focus must be on the play AT ALL TIMES. If your not in position, you're not doing your job. I don't care if the ref called him over. He should have stood his ground and listened from afar to what the ref had to say. Better yet, he should have argued about the positioning of the ball. It seems like he wasn't paying attention to what was going on at times. But it wasn't his fault entirely. In my opinion, it's City's incessant desire for ball possession and game control. It's well practiced. The problem is when you rely on that one tactic and don't succeed with it, you don't really have a viable plan "B". Since all they ever practice is how to really work with plan "A", all you have left at the end is desperation. City got lucky.
I remember when Liverpool parked the bus with 9 men against spurs fighting for a draw, they were applauded for bravery. When Arsenal parked the bus with 10 men, defending the lead for 3 points, they were deemed anti football 😂😂😂😂😂
Bahahha it do like that. But I think Liverpool did attack more and 9 men is drastically worse than 10 men, not to say that 10 men isn't a bad situation. It's just way worse and Liverpool still found opportunities to attack with 9 men. They still grasped at opportunities to score more. But that was against spurs I think arsenal did what any club would reasonably do against who's arguably the best team in England. Park the damn bus and park two more on top of it.
Liverpool parked the bus with 8 men and a keeper and they did so with 10 mins remaining. Liverpool also played with 10 men and a goal down against Newcastle last season and won. So please don't compare Liverpool to bus-parking Arsenal
@victornicholas4729 true i agree it's very different cases and lfc did attack more because klopp just embraces that attacking philosophy. But in most cases any reasonable manager would've done what arteta did no?
Arsenal fan - loved your actual tactical analysis and your reasonable thoughts of the incidents at the end including those against Arsenal I wish pundits had the same level on mainstream media/tv. Keep up the good fight. So many good podcasters and analysts out there who enjoy the game and analyse it where mainstream media seems more and more about the click bait, longing for when sky realises and gets some of you guys on.
Such an enjoyable take and great analysis again. I share links to these videos in group chats so regularly because it is what football coverage should be in my opinion. The level of punditry seen on tv now is akin to an F1 commentary saying "look how fast the cars go, vrooooooom....."
great analysis. there are few things about the ref, he was bad. Everyone is ignoring what Silva did just before the goal. He took the ball after the foul, moved it at least 20m, and also blocked Trossard from getting it. Ref ignored it completely. (that is probably the reason fk was taken further up the pitch). And not to forget that the same ref didn't give Kovacic 2 red cards (for bad tackles) in the last game because he didn't want to negatively affect the game. But he needed just 2 seconds to make a decision to give a second yellow for kicking the ball less than a second after the whistle in an 8th minute of 6 minutes stoppage time. was his thinking he would positively affect the game with this?
Great analysis as always - Arsenal's defensive capabilities are astounding and they nearly completed the impossible. The reverse fixture is going to be insane. Not an Arsenal fan but this really might be the year they best City.
If it was another team defending with 10 men like that you would have said they are small team. Defending is not a bad thing but when it comes to all players in the box just to defend then now let's call it rugby that's not football. Defending with zero attempts zero creativity nooo come on this is not the mentality of a team calling themselves title contenders
@@mariedion obvious bait but Ill bite. You're an absolute tool, football is such a tactical game nowadays and teams play to get results. This is Arsenal not Ange's Spurs. Absolutely nobody except you would call a defensive masterclass a small club mentality
@@mariedion I am confused how you can see this otherwise. Arsenal are winning 2-1 against city who they have to prioritise defence even with 11 men. @@mariedion So you would rather gift City 3 points if you were Arsenal? Are you stupid? It is because they want to win the title that they have to play like that to get the points.
@@mariedion we were down to TEN MEN. For example inter milan 2010 vs barca, parking the bus in the second half after being down to TEN MEN yet you can't call inter milan 2010 a small team huh

Defending with 10 me in the box for 47 minutes and you are talking. Have you seen any team defending like that even with one man down? Shame on you 🧴
@@mariedionlol how many teams survived after going man down against City? 😅 You don't get any points for being brave if you get arses whooped. Arsenal are leaving Etihad with a very well earned point against all odds.
Southgoat would have been proud of that parked bus. Seriously though, I would love to see the average Man City goal count from 88% possession. That would give some context to how Arsenal managed the game. Arsenal had gone toe to toe with City up until the sending off and really had them in a tight spot. The sending off forced a new plan - which again, they outplayed City in a different way. Rodri is a big loss for the rest of the season - City are vulnerable - the Premiership should take heart and let’s have a wide open competition this season.
Absolutely spot on as usual. Too much bollocks being bandied around about Dark Arts (as if Fergie, Jose, Klopp and Pep haven’t been celebrated as being masters of that previously). The Arsenal defensive display was mind blowing. Rather than losing their heads in the face of what they saw as a harsh call before HT, they regrouped and nearly pulled off the seemingly impossible against the best team in the world. I would mention that the reason that Arsenal’s freekick which leads to the equaliser is only that far forward because Silva ‘delays the restart’ by picking the ball up and running back into his half with it so the fallout is deliciously karmic. I’m not sure you’ll ever see a team that hampered by circumstance manage to get any kind of result from that position against such a behemoth. Look at the results City have managed against other top 6 sides when an early red card is given to an opposition player, I think the lowest score was 4-0. Keep up the great work, although I genuinely fear that you might explode if Arteta was ever to manage Newcastle, it is great to see honest unbiased analysis of a manager that Arsenal fans know to be great but doesn’t get his flowers from the majority of the Manchester or scouse-centric journalists/pundits.
About the first Arsenal goal: Walker had enough time to get back in his position. Even though he was talking with his team mates during running back he was in position, so without talking to anyone he would have been there even faster. That the free kick was taking in the wrong position might be true but this is nothing out of the ordinary, especially in that midfield area. Happens every game, every time. Arsenal was just smart enough to use that advantage. About the second yellow for Trossard: between the blow of the whistle and his kick of the ball were 0,5 to 0,7 seconds. Go and rewatch it, listen closely and stop the time yourself. His decision to clear the ball was made before he heard the whistle. There was no chance to change his mind in a situation like this. It was a scandalous decision and we should the refs not get away with those decisions. They destroyed a football game with this kind of nonsense.
It was certainly an entertaining. Gutted Arsenal didn't win, but the way City celebrated a draw tells you everything you need to know (and if I was a City fan instead of an Arsenal fan, I would have been celebrating just as hard).
i think you've made spot on points all around regarding the refereeing, the only blind spot is failing to mention haaland absolutely smashing into opponents without playing the ball, solely to play dirty, and throwing the ball at Gabriel's head after the goal
Another great video, liking you take you time to provide REAL insight!!! As a Gooner, I agree with what was Trossard, and the same with Walker. I don’t know where the higher bar for a second yellow is coming in, and I do think we are trying to fix a problem (delay of restart) that isn’t really problem, I’d be interested in that as a video “Is delay of restart really a problem” Copyright pending 😂. I think Arsenal get more from this than City, and 5 REALLY tough games in, we are in a great position. It will be interesting now, when we have to take on teams where the onus will be on us, without Odergaard.
Klopp sort of used a similar system against Tottenham in the infamous VAR game last season. But he did leave two outlets in Luis Diaz and Mo Salah. Coincidently, Liverpool also scored a last minute own goal to draw the game. Eerily similar to this game.
Great analysis, but one note: on Arsenal's first goal, Arsenal did not move the ball up the pitch. Silva (or Gundogan, I forgot which) does it after the foul, to... delay a restart. I agree with most of what you said re: the refereeing. But if Doku doesn't deserve a yellow for moving the ball because it's in a position where the free kick can't take place... then that was true of Rice a few weeks back. Your analysis of Arsenal's defense in the 2nd half was spot on. They were unbelievable and I do wonder if it's different if Timber and/or Calafiori don't have to come off. Regardless, they were moments away from an insane defensive performance.
90% agree Adam, except for the goal where KW was paying his attention to the ref rather than the game. If you look before the FK, BSilva runs with the ball a good 15 yards from the actual foul (yellow?)
Great video overall as always. I will say, I don't think it matters if Trossard is attempting (and doing a pretty bad job) of hoofing it to Martinelli, or if he's just trying to clear the ball for what would have almost certainly been half time (had he not fouled Silva). The way I see it, he's not expecting a whistle, he doesn't have the time to stop himself from playing it after hearing the whistle, and so he plays it. We can't expect players to stop themselves mid swing less than a second after hearing the whistle. I do think Walker was a little hard done by on the Arsenal equalizer, but Oliver probably just saw him in position and thought it was fine to restart, without realizing he was going toward his teammates to relay the message. And City only have themselves to blame for the free kick being 10 yards ahead of where it should have been, it was Silva who picked it up and moved it away from where the foul happened (I wonder why this delay of restart went unpunished....) On the balance, I think Arsenal have far more right to complain about the officiating than City do
Guardiola's tactics were mystifying in the second half. It was obvious with the extremely low block that Arsenal deployed that long range shooting was going to be the main avenue to get a goal. Therefore, why did he not deploy at least one really good shooter of the ball at the top of the D? I would have put Akanji and Diaz inside the box as tall players to challenge for headers and pulled back Gundogan and maybe Savinho to partner Kovacic outside the box. Keep Walker back for his recovery speed just in case Arsenal break.
That sounds sensible, I thought putting Foden in those positions to have a go from a long range sounded like a no brainer. Perhaps he didn't wanna take any chances in case of unfortunate bounce and foot race in the opposite direction(I think City almost were burned on the corner against West Ham, so maybe Pep didn't want Foden and co dealing with unlikely counter).
Love your content ! As you said one mistake by the ref didn’t cost city the goal, it was the arrogance of Walker expecting the game to be stopped because he wasn’t ready ! But to amend that the ref cost everyone a good game of football, for a neutral it was a bore fest even some of the city fans in the stadium left before the end !
Totally agree with your analysis on the reffing vs players needing to take responsibility. Just don't give referees an excuse to send you off. It's quite simple.
Finally, worth waiting for a good sense of tactic analysis. Not the ones in those sky sports, pundits etc. Watched the previous video analysis too before the match.
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to realize you’re the guy from my trek videos 😅 I’ve been watching both channels since Buffon was a boy… the shame is real 😂 Props on having two amazing channels 🎉
For the Haaland goal ultimately you could say Calafiori was too eager and made up for it by switching on for the rest of the game. My thinking though is Rice and Partey were asleep. Rice should have dropped a lot sooner.
Great analysis Adam! as always. My take on the refereeing ( Arsenal fan here): By the "letter of the law" yes it's a second yellow for Trossard and an ensuing red. But imo a player shouldn't be sent off for two, what I would call "technical" yellows. By "non technical" yellow I mean, dangerous, potentially injuring producing tackles, unfairly putting out a player through on goals or in space etc...the solution? I don't know, with the "sin bin" idea, we run the risk of having periods with 11 against nine players at times....an orange card????. Moreover the inconsistency is grating: Fofana holding Kudus' arm and making him fall in the box: no penalty, no yellow. Trossard holding (slightly) Man. City player arm and then shirt in a non critical area of the pitch: yellow! And it's every week!!
Your point about Trossard 'booting the ball away' doesnt make sense when you realise that Trossard pulls out of the kick when he hears the whistle. This is why the intended pass to Martinelli instead looked more like a boot of the ball away, as he didnt hit the ball with conviction. Not to mention the fact that the time between the whistle and Trossard kicking the ball was minimal and that he was already in the motion of kicking the ball
Great video as always! My take is that whilst Tross is at fault, the punishment does not match the crime. A yellow card is almost too easy to receive. Reducing a team down to 10 needs to be reserved for dangerous play that endangers an opponent. In other sports the referee can advance the position of a free kick if anyone delays the restart. Maybe the player receiving 2 yellows (and then a red) for non dangerous play is a forced substitution and the team can keep 11 on the pitch. There almost needs to be a scale of consequence based on the scale of the law that was broken to justify the card. Last year Oliver did not send off kovacic because cause he didn’t want to ruin the game but the exact opposite happened here.
saka deserves so mutch credit for the perfect delivery on almost every corner, the consistency is crazy

One of his finest performances for Arsenal.
That’s because Oliver was paid 20k to ref a UAR game and Liverpool and Nottingham Forest are not UAE teams.
Bro, there's been 28 cases of kicking the ball away after the whistle so far and only arsenal have ever recieved a second yellow for it.
No ref in the PL like Arsenal actually, secretly they love to send off Arsenal player if they can
As Ian Wright said.. Oliver gave the yellow card to compensate Man City for the earlier complaints from City about our equalizer. I agree with him.
Both Arsenal goals should’nt have stood. No Arsenal fans want to talk about it.

The analysis I've been waiting for
Literally what I was thinking
yep
Idk why people are surprised arsenal were playing defensively when they’re 2-1 and a player down with basically the whole 2nd half to go😂😂
City had 28 shots in the second half 😂
Arsenal were playing that way, time wasting etc from the first minute.
Last time City faced a big opponent with a red card. They won 5-1,, against Liverpool
@@firstlane7695 exactly!
There's playing defensively and then diving and faking injuries and time wasting at every chance
The only thing being consistent is the speed and manner of which only Arsenal players are being sent off.
Congrats on winning the "If timber was on the pitch" trophy.😁

Arsenal fan here. Fair play, my fave vid of yours yet. Your take on the referee aspect is top, top quality - it's nice to have good, neutral analysis like this to keep tribal emotions in check. Keep it up lad.
One thing I would say about Arsenal's equaliser is that the reason the free kick was taken so far away from where the foul was committed, was that Bernardo Silva dribbled it there, while delaying the restart.
He should have got a yellow by the letter of the law 🤨
I am a disgruntled Arsenal fan but I love your stuff Adam.
Rest up some more. We got 1 point from 12 v 10
Against all odds and shitty officiating, we still walked away with a point and made City drop two.
Before Arteta made a back 6 it was first 5 at back and 4 in front. But he spotted a weakness and changed it to 6 at back and 3 in front.
Yes. He made Raya to fake possible injury and made the changes.

You could also argue Trossard wasn't delaying a restart because Silva was still on the floor clutching his face AND the referees next action was to blow for half time.
you just another Arsenal Bozo
Don't forget that the same logic should be applied to Rice's second yellow. The free kick couldn't be taken when hit touched the ball
"It was not Arsenal's responsibility to wait until he was." Correct. It was the responsibility of the ref, who literally ordered him out of position for a conference.
Your just another 115 fc bozo
Excellent analysis. The other thing the ultra low block/6 at the back did, was to pretty much take Haarland out of the game.
That's right. Haaland had no room to a maneuver, and exploiting gaps and barreling through a defense are what makes him lethal. He was neutered.
Aside from the first goal obviously, haaland did nothing but lose ariel duals to saliba and gabriel
Again, it just seems that Arsenal players are refereed harder but maybe we’re all just making things up
I actually just think that it's the inconsistency with leaves egeryone mad

City celebrating a draw in their home against 10 men is absolutely embarrassing....
Against ten men who defended the box actually city were not supposed to score

Arsenal's set pieces are genuinely cracked

Adam can we have a video solely on Gravenberch, he's a changed man 🙏🙏
As an Arsenal fan, I would be much more understanding about Trossard getting a second yellow for the foul rather than kicking the ball away.
Best analysis of the game I've seen. Excellent stuff.
Funny how a lot of people think possession means dominating. If City dominated first half how come they were loosing...
They were dominating to be fair, because they created more shots and were forcing Arsenal to play in the areas they would have preferred not to be in. Unlike Tottenham who were a bit toothless, City were putting Arsenal under a lot of pressure, which Arsenal handled pretty well up until that last moment.
you can dominate and still lose what type of a comment is that? even before the first goal they were by far the better side
You've clearly never heard the term smash and grab. Not saying that's what arsenal did, but that's how you get dominated yet come away with the points/half 🤪

Respect for giving a nuanced and level headed take on the game everyone is so sensationalist
I think your take on Michael Oliver's decisions that game is the best I've seen anywhere. You've actually changed my mind on it because your explanation honestly just makes so much more sense than anything anyone else is saying about it. Fantastic analysis! Thank you - really loved how this was presented and the final comments about the comments section were spot on. Well done!
Can't wait for Merino to be fit, he is gonna love this Saka corner kicks
Just have to say thank you from bringing clarity and sanity to this insane game. Love, love, love your presentations!

I remember when Liverpool parked the bus with 9 men against spurs fighting for a draw, they were applauded for bravery.
When Arsenal parked the bus with 10 men, defending the lead for 3 points, they were deemed anti football 😂😂😂😂😂
who cares? People forget nowadays how Mourinho parked the bus at Chelsea. What they will remember is the amount of trophies
Bahahha it do like that. But I think Liverpool did attack more and 9 men is drastically worse than 10 men, not to say that 10 men isn't a bad situation. It's just way worse and Liverpool still found opportunities to attack with 9 men. They still grasped at opportunities to score more. But that was against spurs
I think arsenal did what any club would reasonably do against who's arguably the best team in England.
But in most cases any reasonable manager would've done what arteta did no?

great analysis.
there are few things about the ref, he was bad.

Absolute best analysis out there, no question
Brilliant video mate thanks
Bro might have a crush on calafiori😂
Hey man who doesn't?!😂
Arteta outthought pep this game and rattled the city lot more than i have ever seen.

Klopp sort of used a similar system against Tottenham in the infamous VAR game last season. But he did leave two outlets in Luis Diaz and Mo Salah. Coincidently, Liverpool also scored a last minute own goal to draw the game. Eerily similar to this game.
100% agree with your view of controversial decision
Great explanatory video. Thanks
Finally, the video we have all been waiting for
Great video overall as always.
And City only have themselves to blame for the free kick being 10 yards ahead of where it should have been, it was Silva who picked it up and moved it away from where the foul happened (I wonder why this delay of restart went unpunished....)
On the balance, I think Arsenal have far more right to complain about the officiating than City do
I thought you were very even-handed on the refereeing, Adam, nice one! Great analysis as always.
Perhaps he didn't wanna take any chances in case of unfortunate bounce and foot race in the opposite direction(I think City almost were burned on the corner against West Ham, so maybe Pep didn't want Foden and co dealing with unlikely counter).
shouldve put foden there. Their counterpress is too good for any team to break a man down with just wingers
Here we go ! Michael Oliver signed new long term deal with Man Cheaty
You’re absolutely bang on with your analysis, you bell whiff
Finally, worth waiting for a good sense of tactic analysis. Not the ones in those sky sports, pundits etc.
Watched the previous video analysis too before the match.
Playing one man less away with man city for more then 45min is really really tough. Once you give them the space, they will slaughtering you.
Love this video. Please Pep watch it with your team. Get better soon Rodz.
brilliant and balanced analysis
I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to realize you’re the guy from my trek videos 😅 I’ve been watching both channels since Buffon was a boy… the shame is real 😂
Props on having two amazing channels 🎉
bet manager love you revealing all their tactics.
spot on video. will subscribe
This channel is amazing
For the Haaland goal ultimately you could say Calafiori was too eager and made up for it by switching on for the rest of the game. My thinking though is Rice and Partey were asleep. Rice should have dropped a lot sooner.
It was a wonderful match .. some refre error but it was classic PL match ..
Superb analysis
Thank God for proper analysis. 👍
Thanks for the analysis 👌 love these videos
Thanks for all the info
