    Finally bought the radio when I saw this video 💪

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right, I just did a new install on my current Hummer with a double din touch screen head unit. I actually had to watch my own video again to relearn how I did it before... ^__O You can get a Onstar bypass for $60+ for the chimes and to remove any squeals or noises that the old system maybe causing...

    You can connect the ACC wire to the Rear Wiper power wire.... don't need to go under the steering wheel or under the hood! sorry bro... it will work the same as your stock radio too! it will stay on until you open your door just like the factory radio...
    Hope this helps

    Great video, very helpful.
    Do you still remember where did you get that body kit/dash kit? What is the model of it?
    Thanks a lot!

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh snap, I have no idea of the model... But I Googled it and ordered it on Ebay. Was like 10 bucks.

  • @JasenStl
    @JasenStl  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Like you, I have a 2006 Hummer H3. The wiring harness was found on Ebay for 4 bucks model number GM-4004. But you can just do a search for the wiring harness for your make and model. It is a basic harness to your speakers. There is a more advanced harness that will cost well over a hundred. I hooks into your On-Star and will cause the speakers to "chime" and keep everything in the car on until you open the door...

    So far, this looks great. Good data JasenStl, I am prepping to replace the factory stereo, which has the 6 disc changer built in.

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Be careful, I'm not a professional. I don't use cds anymore, everything stored on either dvd or sd card. Or I stream from my cellphone bluetooth. In-dash dvd players have all the modern capabilities for about a hundred bucks.

    • @desertrat198
      @desertrat198 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true. I had to do a replacement in the dash of my 99 crown vic, and it was very similar. I have already started research on the kit, and I have already picked out a new JVC unit that is blue tooth, cd, and auxiliary. SO, I can plug my iPhone in or blue tooth it. I was just curious about how to start because, at least on other vehicles, you have the little keys that you install and busts the head unit out. Now, I saw how it worked, and will research heavily before proceeding. Thank you !

  • @blueflowers6738
    @blueflowers6738 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Ok so this is a great way to save money if you don't have the monsoon system. If you do have the monsoon, you need an gmos-04 adapter specifically and no way around it short of rewiring door speakers only directly to new head unit, foregoing the subwoofer and that great punchy crisp sound of all speakers via the monsoon config. If you want to install new speakers and amp anyways, you can forego the gmos-4 harness too. BUT ....if you want to keep the monsoon amp and woofer not to mention the superior config with the door and pillar speakers, you need a GMOS-04 ,period. These are not cheap, $100 or so for a gmos-04 wireness on Amazon and double that retail! You will intuitively want to avoid such cost initially and look for a workaround, but will regret every moment of grief and wasted time! 100! This video is a workaround for a GMOS-01 (same high price as 04) if you don't care to spend $100 plus on a harness just to have onstar and door chymes. However this work around will NOT work with the monsoon system!

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, I sold that Hummer years ago. I did buy another one a couple years ago. My current Hummer has a bigger touchscreen head unit. I swapped all the door speakers plus a pillars, and removed the factory sub because it was shattered. -And I have 2 12 inch subs in the back. It sounds very crispy. Although I damaged my ears because the new a-pillar speakers were too loud. Doesn't matter anymore. I barely drive it, so I'm giving it away and will be purchasing the Hummer EV when it's released...

    • @blueflowers6738
      @blueflowers6738 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seems we walk a similar path. My first hummer sounded like crap so I swapped the HU and all door speakers and added my own subs/amp. I was able to install everything without a single issue and used only the basic $5 GM harness. On my new (well new to me) hummer, the monsoon sounds amazing! It's hard to believe really. I was convinced the whole system was upgraded already, but upon inspection the door speakers look identical to the reg stocks on the old whip? Regardless I attempted to install a new HU without the recommended hmos-4 adapter after finding one local/retail was almost $200! Long story short after much headache and wasted time I had no choice but to order the adapter on Amazzon (paid $88). The adapter basically converts the high outs to low amp output to the amp to effectively make the new unit act as a powerless display like the monsoon 6 disc unit did before it. Trust that any sound you get without the adapter will sound horrible (think one channel with inverse polarity that becomes completely distorted at >/= 50% volume. So bottom line is learn from my mistakes and wasted time and just get the adapter from the start IF you wish to keep the monsoon.
      I watched this same video years back and was able to do exactly what you did, skipping the expensive harness with no problem. Late thanks for that by the way! I decided to pay it forward with this write up to help anyone else out there that's in the same position wanting to change the HU but keep the monsoon components.
      Can't emphasize enough how easy it was with GMOS-4 and how surprisingly good it sounds! It's nice having all the room free in the back too! If you are a stubborn DIYer like me, determined to get around such a ridiculously expensive harness, do yourself a solid and study the monsoon diagram first!
      Now if you don't have the monsoon or are replacing everything you can follow this video and it will indeed work; I've done it myself!
      Hope this helps someone!

    1st of all yellow is constant power . Red is ignition on . Black Is ground. On this vehicle . All the h3 models have no ignition wire . Easiest way to install is buying a fus connector and connecting directly from fuse box fuse 33. Run through firewall on same side as battery through to red wire on harness . As of amp use amp wire direct wire install is pink. Or harness blue and white . Connect this to your blue amp on wire or labeled amp on .

    The slot with the 15 amp fuse where your wire was ran on the cover was labeled as #28 BCK/UP? is that what your calling the accessory? Just don't want to short circuit anything, just to be certain, besides that great video!

      You're right. That was in my diy days. I just go to the shop now. They have all the right stuff. My current setup is light years ahead of when I made this video. Different H3 now too. But this video might still be useful for someone who wants to install an aftermarket 100 dollar radio in their H3.

    Greetings from Mexico, my friend!
    A question...
    How to remove the back cover of hummer h3? To hide the amplifier from the side walls

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd be lying if I offered any kind of answer. My subwoofer box was wide enough to cover the entire back seat. I just had my amp between the subwoofer box and the back seat.

    I found it pretty simple, but the 1 issue is the acc wire. you can pick up from the fan wire, but the fan will interfere with the radio. gotta run that wire to the fusebox, otherwise its an easy do.

    • @sandman11583
      @sandman11583 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Matt Klimek hook it up to the positive wire of your cigarrette lighter the one that shuts off with the key and dont do what dude did for main power put a inline fuse in that wire if you do Jimmy rig it like that

  • @ZackR1122
    @ZackR1122 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did this work on your monsoon system? And I seemed to follow your procedure but get no sound whatsoever. The unit turns on but I receive no sound. Did you only have to connect the red wire to the wire or you had to connect more?

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your unit is on, so power is not the issue. You maybe have to go back through your harness to make sure it's wired properly, grounded and check your radio settings. I'm not sure what else to do. If it persist, Google exactly what's happening, you might find the answer in a random forum somewhere.

    • @sandman11583

      If you have a monsoon system that means somwhere there is amps for each speaker usually attached to back of speakers so best bet look for a hummer wiring schematic online or dealer make sure it is for monsoon sys 1of2 things is going on either there is a extra signal wire to turn on and off amps or there are more wires and all amps need wired in for ground and power

    hey bro I have the Monsoon system with the amp would this harness still turn the factory amp on are would I need the more expensive harness

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No harness will work on it's own. You have to wire the power elsewhere like an accessory fuse. Do so at your own risk. Any harness will work so long as it matches your vehicle. My recent install, I just tapped my power wire into the cigarette lighter. -It might be different for your vehicle.

      jesus barrio It's your wire harness... Make sure you have the right one, hop on Ebay and grab a cheap one. But make sure everything is properly wired and that you've tried every option before spending additional cash.

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stereo, wire harness? Not really.. I usually read a couple reviews online, if I don't see any negative reviews, I buy. Just Google the or look on Ebay for the components you need and look at the review. Not rich yet, so I navigate towards the cheaper brands...

  • @JasenStl

    No, it's not 28... I sold the Hummer last week. I think the fuse was 33 or 30-something, it was labled accessory...

      Whoa, that's way out of my league. I only know how to install subs and in-dash components. I pay someone else to do my alarm systems. Sounds like you're a bit more advances than me. My best advice is check Google for the forums or here on TH-cam for the video tutorials. Also, check your fuse box and make sure none of the fuses are blown.

    You need to rethink ur install man go to school and learn did u figure out what side of fuse is protected so when u run ur un necessary wire to ur power distribution box or better just put a inline fuse on wire by fuse block that bugger wire not fused and if or when it shorts sometime due to wear it will do some bad crap from frying components or burning ur car to the ground i bought one with just that situation for parts where it burnt down

    • @sandman11583
      @sandman11583 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ps wheres your butt connectors electrial tape is the devils playshop of probs only a temp fix till u can get it to shop

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm good on going to school man. There is an infinite amount of free information on Google and TH-cam. I usually put fuses on everything, so there will never be a fire. -Maybe will have to replace a fuse. And that Hummer is long gone. I currently have a Chrysler 300 in it's place. I use the cigarette lighter now instead of the acc fuse. I'm no professional, just cheap. Whenever I run into an issue, I look it up online and solve it. Strangely enough, every problem I encounter has been solved by someone else and posted online already. I love being alive in this era. ^__O

    • @JasenStl
      @JasenStl  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amp or acc fuse? You have to buy your own amp, stereo, and subwoofers. You can get them cheap on Amazon. The acc fuse I showed in the video is under the hood in the fuse box... Be careful and disconnect the battery before any installation. I'm not a professional, do it at your own risk... See ya.

      Sorry buddy, this video is on install not removal... Removal is very easy, just pull it out. ^__O But there are several kinds. Mine was aftermarket, so showing you how I took it out won't help a factory install.

  • @JasenStl
    @JasenStl  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, it's not so much that... (Stereo is free, n I can always replace it if I'm alive.) I have the Hummer garaged now and is being more discreet... (Watching where I go and how long I stay.) I used my other truck for transportation. Next time this 2-way pager alarm goes off, I got something for that ass. I know people are struggling out here, but I have to make an example… It’s a respect thing… ^_O
