Si hacen lo mejor que pueden x ayudar a personas amputadas lo malo es que esas prótesis no se pueden usar bien no las puede mover x si solas ,no pueden agarrar objetos ,no pueden escribir ,menos alzar peso ,ojalá más adelante se pudiera usar las prótesis casi como si fuera tu propia extremidad haría felices a muchas personas que perdieron una parte de su cuerpo

I would be interested in a follow-up after 3 years to see if Megha is actually using this prosthetic "rig" to accomplish daily tasks or not. The entire set of videos only show mostly adjustments...and people talking about Megha (as she struggles to accomplish something)...rather than to Megha. How does she feel about thees new tools (prosthetics). From the point of view of the viewer it looks like a heavy burden that really doesn't give her much additional utility. Yes, she can open the microwave door and shut it...but can she put anything into it...can she turn it on. I mean, what complete task can she do for herself? Personally, I think that electronic arms and hands that would reply to voice commands would give her more "assistance" than this old-school muscle operated rig. I am not convinced that the prosthetics shown in these videos have actually improved her life.
@@CharlotteIsJustFine I think what I've heard/read most about prosthetics like this is that "they are heavy"' . As an engineer it seems like by using modern materials (not wood) should make them much lighter. I suppose you get along by use of feet, Nevertheless, in public, I'm sure there are times when you wish you could jus t"blend in." So far the choice seems to be to look more natural with no real function or to have function without the look or, as in your case, to leave them in the closet. With Ai and advanced robotics I believe that that technology will bleed over into the world of prosthetics and produce useful prosthetic tools that are light weight, useful, and are not as likely to capture staring eyes. I wish that, for you, and thank you for your response.

I did see the TED talk on the experiments with re-einervating (sp?) nerve endings to run an arm not connected by a residual limb. I am a retired engineer but with the advent of Ai/Robotics I have an intense post-career interest in "six million dollar man" - type prosthetics and if I had 20 more years to give it, I would sign on with Otto Bock or somebody to work on this. But my experience is that people, like yourself I assume, with congenital situations who have learned to live their lives with what they've got are less interested in prosthetics that those who have suffered amputation and not yet adapted. So it's all about what you're used to, I guess. Thanks again. JBB. PS: for my own interest how do you respond to this with no arms...feet? or speech recognition? If you don't mind telling me. Thx
