    Yup, while I was waiting for a knee replacement, I watched youtube and learned how to make loaded snares. Figured they were a 1 trick pony, once used, you have hardware that could be reused. So I started out making them.
    When I recovered from knee surgery. I tackled my first commercial ADC trapping job with only what I learned on youtube. Scared I bit off more than I could chew with a 400 acre lake, I went there and went through the motions of stetting my traps, I cleaned out 15 beaver in 14 days. They were Beaver Free for 4 yrs and now the beaver just came back a few months ago.
    So to you newbies, don't let being scared you might mess up, keep you from trapping. Messing up is part of the learning process. And too, with the price of meat these days, wild meat is better for you than domesticated meat, and it's free!

      @@AnArkansasTrapper By the way...I had only caught 1 beaver before that big first job. 1 snare set, 1 fifty pound beaver. That was the one that got me started.

      @@AnArkansasTrapper Sorry, I did the math and I started trapping in 2006, so I have been trapping for 17 yrs. I guess they have been beaver free for all of that time. When we were young, it took for ever to be old enough to buy a beer. But when you get to be 72, time moves much faster, the yrs seem like months.

    On your Springs, I just take a small screw driver. I'll pick up on the Spring slide a piece of still tubing down over. Bring it over and it comes right off, really easy. Easier for me to show you how to do it and then tell you how to do it like your videos

    I think the worst thinking in trapping is that there’s only one way to do something. Sometimes unconventional methods are the best in order to catch them in their every day routine. Good advice

    • @AnArkansasTrapper
      @AnArkansasTrapper  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree! There are definitely sets that produce and do it fast but. One needs to understand the animal enough that they are comfortable enough to try a crazy set to get the one they can't in the normal sets.

    Good vid ! My dad trapped for a living in the mid 70s , and gave me very little '' how to '' info . He knew that I would be better at it if he gave me tid bits , but I learned on the go . The 2 best bits of advice he gave was , the more traps you got set , the more stuff your gonna catch . And when I asked how to catch a certain varmit he would say , get on the tracks and it will tell you how !

      Good man your dad! Mine dad did as well. I wish I would have paid better attention when I tagged along. I didn't get into it until later in life and am self-taught. Great advise right there.

    I enjoy your video's. Get to see other parts of Arkansas. First animal i learned to snare was beaver. I enjoy snaring predators also. I do use killpoles on beaver and coyotes. I drive it in the ground. I have my snare support and anchor all in one. I wish we could use 2 piece locks. I use a mini pro lock on land. If i set in the water i use a death blow lock. Beaver i use the old bent washer lock on land. Them springs are hard to get off. I just done 14 bridger #2 4 coil offset modified traps. I took trap apart adjusted the pan. Put them back together. I had a big otter didnt do down the drowning rod. Got the bridger #5 4 coil springs on stake. Almost pulled the pen spring out.
