I can remember; the first time I heard DOOM when he reemerged on the hip hop scene was the song Impostas off of underground hip hop dot com back in 97; I was like, yo, this is ill. Then I heard Tick Tock with MF GRIMM, and then Gas Drawls, damn!!
I remember the Hey! and Operation Greenbacks vinyl on the walls at Fat Beats. I didn't have turntables but as soon as I saw that cartoon Dr. Doom face on the CD cover I copped it. I remember listening to Doomsday and just zoning out to the scratches in the end. Shit was and still is a masterpiece.
As a kid growing up in a small ass ex Soviet Union country where punk is still the most popular music genre, i hated hip hop. It was the i guess "bling" era hip hop, 50 cent, lil wayne when they first started mixing hip hop and pop music. And it didn't help that a lot of our own hip hop was more tongue in cheek type funny rap. By chance, when I first started making my own music for fun, i found one of does highlighted rhymes video on MF DOOM "meat grinder" and it absolutely blew my mind and "tick tock" ft. MF GRIMM broke it. I'm still quite picky about what type of hip hop i like ((mainly Denzel Curry and Token)) DOOM made me love this genre of music and showed me how nearly limitless one can be with writing.
Can’t speak for everybody who got a chance to meet and build with the brother, from what I experienced in 1992 in Manhattan coming out of the Ansaar school ( Peach Fuzz) this dude was as cool as anybody you’d wanna meet. Good brother. R. I.P
The first song I ever heard from DOOM, I was scrolling thru TH-cam and seen this dude with a mask on. Clicked on the video and it was “one beer”. From then on, I couldn’t get enough. This was in 2009 or 10.
Really and truly, looking upon his talent from the KMD days, there was really no reason why Zev Love X wouldn't become this prolific artist. He was destined to. His rhymes even back then, were tremendous. MF DOOM forever.

Man, I’m crushed. I just got into DOOM’s music during the quarantine, having learned that I was listening to his music back in his KMD days. He’s a genius. His ideas and aliases was a clever and well thought out concept. The music was always first and he never gave up his artistic integrity. DOOM epitomized the Hip Hop sound and culture. You can listen to his music and hear elements of 70s, 80s, and 90s hip hop. And of course, he was at the forefront of modern Hip Hop and always had a new sound.
This man was a big influence on me as a youngin would listen to him for hours days months straight no other artist and find myself do it again in another time in life

DOOM dying , is like a part of my childhood dying. His death literally tore a hole in my heart. His music resonates with me in a very special way , much like j dilla , madlib , nujabes. I'm scared. This is basically a collection of all the best DOOM clips out there, but very dope to watch alltogether!!! R.I.P. to one of the last original emcees in the game.
All my university days during early 2000's I only go with MF Doom in my earphones (Operation: Doomsday), no one understood me why I like this guy and his "strange" Hip-Pop production... I do not know why. He was so original and unique. He had his own universe, truly unique man in Hip Hop industry. I miss you Doom, like I miss Prodigy of Mobb Deep. Still in my heart, FOREVER!
Randomly heard "Hey!" on Spinner online radio back in 2000 (anyone else remember that?) and was instantly hooked. Didn't expect his passing to hit so hard, I'm a grown man and didn't think I'd feel this way about an entertainer's passing anymore. Realized I just don't look forward to hearing new stuff from anyone like I would with DOOM, he was still so consistently good. And on top of everything he seemed like a genuinely good dude. Gonna miss those rhymes Villain, RIP.
what a great documentary. really paints doom in a positive light. I love how he was purely about the music. Truely a master of his craft. The one and only MF DOOM. Also had no idea madlib was from the westcoast. Mixing the westcoast and eastcoast sound is a match made in heaven
I never understood why people do that shit recording will sound like ass cuz the phone mic and its so loud, I feel like people do it to "prove" they where there or some shit. imagine being more concerned about your shot than the artist you came to see.
Without him explaining the idea of the mask, fans still understand the idea of it. Thats what is spectacular about him. Not to many emcees represent that "Hip Hop is universal" concept. Doom and maybe2 or 3 others do or did.
32:15 what's crazy is when Steez passed I played Steez's version of that song and the intro made me shed a tear. a few years later I shed a tear to the same intro after DOOM died. Never cried listening to a songs on any other occasion. I will rock this microphoneeeee alwaysssss, still chokes me up, cool to see him perform this bit live.
MF DOOM is still 👑 of this game even after his untimely passing. I don’t think his legacy will be knocked off that throne anytime soon, either. Dude was EGOLESS as anyone I’ve ever seen and the mask was a symbol of that. His talent was on clear display in every bar he wrote, recorded, and performed. Genius is not a word to be thrown around as lightly as it is, but that might have been an understatement when it came to Dumile’s talent and approach to his craft. I’m not sure if I’ve seen a bigger flex than “That’s That” which I can spend hours listening to and analyzing. Yes the world took him too soon but I will always be forever grateful for what we did get to hear from him. I’ll be bumping his songs until the day I die. Rest in Power King and know you left a legacy like no other in this industry.

Word! I was like yo that's my man from KMD. "Gas Drawls", and "Greenbacks". thank you Bobbito Fondl 'em Records
Nice introduction b.
Have you ever smoked DMT???
His loss hurts like crazy. He’s been one of my top favorite rappers for years. The world lost a true Titan. Rest Easy to the goat MF DOOM
I feel grateful to know that his family could afford the privacy deserved by all to make this announcement in their own time, rest in peace Doom
Really and truly, looking upon his talent from the KMD days, there was really no reason why Zev Love X wouldn't become this prolific artist. He was destined to. His rhymes even back then, were tremendous. MF DOOM forever.
I can only imagine the loss he felt with the passing of his boy. DOOM was other worldly and I have no doubt his soul is everywhere.
It is. When you sing his songs he comes back.
when i listen to him rhyming to his mesmerising production - everything else stops, like gone, and im just standing there in the moment of serenity, grasping the narrative... rest in piece, my hero
I love your comment and I know what you mean - doom figured out how to navigate his ship and stay true north through all the storms and seas of life and so he could find the calm in the eye of the storm - right in the middle of it.. no lie at all - I love that man (craft a quote to keep the craft afloat- aye aye captain)
@@eliasWsfc absolutely true... cheers to you, my friend!
Got me through a lot. Thank you for wearing the mask for all of us, rest in peace.

MF DOOM FOREVER AND A DAY.
That shit gives me the chills now.
This makes me appreciate madlib so much... This man really made all the madvillian beats high in a basement on a hill😭 god shit like that is what I wish for
Dude made the whole Quasimoto Greenery album on mushrooms
Man, I’m crushed. I just got into DOOM’s music during the quarantine, having learned that I was listening to his music back in his KMD days. He’s a genius. His ideas and aliases was a clever and well thought out concept. The music was always first and he never gave up his artistic integrity. DOOM epitomized the Hip Hop sound and culture. You can listen to his music and hear elements of 70s, 80s, and 90s hip hop. And of course, he was at the forefront of modern Hip Hop and always had a new sound.
I'm not crying. There's something in my eye. Seriously
Real shit my eye too
Gotdam allergies 😢

born in 1987. I mainly grew up with the late 90s and early 2000s hip hop. Mf doom was apart of my adolescence along with the whole stones throw family.
DOOM dying , is like a part of my childhood dying. His death literally tore a hole in my heart.
His music resonates with me in a very special way , much like j dilla , madlib , nujabes. I'm scared. My era is getting older, and time eats away at our body and souls.
Tomorrow is not promised. I hope my generation of hip hop strives and drops as many joints as possible.
To quote dr Seuss: " dont cry because it's over, smile because it happened".
Simply put - The Greatest Artist in the History of Hip Hop. I've been with hip hop since it started, NO ONE else has been the level of mc AND producer as Daniel Dumile. Safe travels Villian. Thanks for stopping by

"I sell rhymes like dimes...."
That beat will always give me 1 trillion goosebumps everytime I hear it. I was listening to that in NYC around the time I started getting into indie rap, so it brings me to a happy place. Aw I'm gonna miss DOOM
he wasent popular, never in bullshit. stayed out the news, was a good dude just rapped and thats it. I hope he wasent in any pain, but after his brother and son. thats hard to be happy, i cant imagine
what about London? he made a healthy pound there too

There's something beautiful about MF DOOM honking out out-of-tune notes when he tries to sing.
Just feels exactly how it should🙏🏽
Still can't believe he's gone, just the thought of knowing there wont be another new doom album ever just saddens me. He was handsdown my favorite lyricists of all time, there will never be another Doom. Rip
R.I.P M.F. DOOM!!!! Just so you know, I never changed this profile pic since the first time I heard "Operation: Doomsday" way back in 2008. I was fucked up for a minute after I heard about your transcendence to the next level; but I am glad we had your musical (superior rhyme skills/production) magnificence while you was here with us. Now, I guess the DOOM-BOT's will take over from here. Excelsior My G!!!
I wish we got around to a ODB & MF DOOM collab.
It’s still so hard to believe he’s gone. When you hear him speak, you can hear the passion about the music. When you hear the music, you can feel the unique style. He was a legend. RIP
Wish I could like this more than once.
1st celeb death that actually truly upset me.
I was pretty broken up about losing Bowie, this devistated me.
This the hardest celeb death for me man doom like an inspiration I don’t rap but like he jus makes me have so much of a deeper appreciation for the craft
Bro, started 2020 with Kobe Bryant dying, then finished the year off with DOOM...

I looked it up online and have been listening to MF DOOM constantly since Vaudeville Villian is probably my favourite at the moment. Thank you to whoever the person was that played the music for me to hear , and thank you MF DOOM for making some of the best music I've came across. R.I.P
His name will forever echo in the LA underground RIP
Yup. From Highland Park to New York he'll be remembered.

DOOM should have all this recognition since the man was alive, I hate to see the artist get their roses after
DOOM got alot of love while he was alive, not just from fans but from alot ofnother artists too. He wasnt mainstream, and didnt need or want to be and its better off that way. DOOM deserves eternal praise. Even for being a villain, he knew he was loved by many.
Robert Glasper Experiment & Doom combo at the end is pure Fire 🔥.
I still can’t comprehend that he’s really gone. He will always be the master. The roach is never dead.
Mad props to all those involved in makin this doc proper. Respect. The footage is priceless, and finishing with the MF/Robert Glasper Rhinestone remix was just beauty.
From Zev to MF and all the monikers we know him by, Daniel Dumile will never be forgotten. Only remembered as the truly unique Artist and force of nature that he most definitely was.

Rest In Riches, my guy. You deserve so much more than you received while alive. I'm sorry your son died at 14 in 2017, your brother in the early 90s. You left a huge print on the hip hop scene and history and I'm so sad that you're actually gone.
With the tragedies in his life, I just hope he passed on good terms with his family, friends, and with God.
Damn... hope the villain smacked his hype man after the show (very beginning of the video).
Hype man didn’t know any of the words when he was supposed to help out.

Facts!
what a great documentary. really paints doom in a positive light. I love how he was purely about the music. Truely a master of his craft. The one and only MF DOOM. Also had no idea madlib was from the westcoast. Mixing the westcoast and eastcoast sound is a match made in heaven
Its mad to see no one with their phone out at the concert. Everyone was full in it 🤘
I never understood why people do that shit recording will sound like ass cuz the phone mic and its so loud, I feel like people do it to "prove" they where there or some shit. imagine being more concerned about your shot than the artist you came to see.
@@GrandDawggy yeah man, its 100% just to prove they were there. Quite sad tbh
The best emcee with no chain ya ever heard
Hip hop is all American, and hip hop is universal. That's my main takeaways from this. Even old news reporters can quote some DOOM
His father is Zimbabwean and mother Trinidadian. Let's see how many Americans are pissed off by this fact.
Without him explaining the idea of the mask, fans still understand the idea of it. Thats what is spectacular about him. Not to many emcees represent that "Hip Hop is universal" concept. Doom and maybe2 or 3 others do or did.
Under the persona he seemed like such nice funny guy. R.I.P DOOM you changed my life.
DOOM was on another level in every aspect..absolute wizard on the mic
Gives me so much chills, this man is such an inspiration. Bumping DOOM til I die!
Beautiful video thank you for this. R.I.P DOOM. I cried the last at the last part of this. He can never be duplicated.
"Just say 'Ho' - I'll test the yayo, Wild West, style fest, yall best to lay low."
Just doesnt get better... No one will ever compare.
DOOM gone live forever like Henrietta Lack's cells 🙌✊
Very Unique figure in Hip Hop... R.I.P to the legendary MF DOOM
