For those curious to Bumby’s backstory: Angus Bumby was a student of Alice’s father when Alice was just a child. He became obsessed with Alice’s older sister Lizzy, making inappropriate advances towards her even though she had made it clear that she couldn’t stand him. He began stalking her, even once following her into the ladies room at Waterloo Station. Finally one night, Bumby snuck into the Liddell’s home where he had his way with poor Lizzie as she slept and then killed her. To cover his tracks, he set the whole house on fire, not anticipating that Alice would survive. Cut to the present time of the game: Bumby runs the orphanage where Alice lives, where he uses hypnotism to erase the memories of the children’s horrible pasts, including Alice’s. He’s actually erasing all of their memories, in order to make them living puppets that he pimps out to London’s elite. He’s a creepy af character, and now you understand why

He laughs in Alice's face when she confronts him and says that no one will believe her because of his title and the fact that she was in the asylum for 10 years due to the trauma of the fire. BTW, the time period of both of these stories indicate that we are talking about the actual asylums: treppening, using leeches, throwing new perscriptions on the wall to see if it sticks, everything. Alice was in hell.
Actually, Dr. Habit was abused by his father who beat him and messed up his teeth when he punished him for taking care of his flowers and giving them kisses. The poor bean just wanted to be a florist but his dad didn't want it.
If people here REALLY wanted to know why Angus is such a disturbing character, I will explain in an easy way or two: 1. He was *very* obsessed with Alice's older sister 2. One night, he sneaked inside and well...did "things" to her 3. After doing so, he set the house on fire ...Yeah, I have never played the game, but I have seen the full cutscenes of this game to make me understand more of this disgusting character. He is pretty much a perverted and manipulating child-abuser to sum it up.

Uhhh, blame his mother for his complex. He figured being hated was being better then being ignored by his mother since she was nothing but cruel to him. He figured by her hating him, it was her way of showing her 'love'. Monaca did take advantage of that though, and I don't think the other Warriors (besides Monaca) actually hated him.
While i understand not wanting to discuss the content on the last part of the list, if you're going to go out of your way to make a list and put angus bumby as the number one spot and refuse to even say what he did not only ruins the pacing of your own content, but also wastes your time and the viewers time. Aside from that, good video and overall tone, i subbed.

Another Danganronpa character i'd like to point out, though some, maybe most may not agree - Korekiyo Shinguji. Why? Aight lemme go off (SPOILERS FOR V3!!) So i'm a big fan of Kiyo, he's one of my top 3 characters and my favorite character. I know for a fact most people have found him to be a strange, creepy character, but in my opinion, when you take into account what you learn about him at the end of Chapter 3's trial, it ups the creepy factor. Despite the fake backstories created, the students were living with a serial killer who killed close to 100 girls. In Kaede's Free Time Events, Kiyo says she'd be a wonderful friend for his sister. Kaede, who dies before Chapter 2, just goes along with it and says she'd love to meet her one day. Especially in the manga anthologies, although they are non-canon, there's an entire story that takes place after Kaede is executed, and Kiyo starts the story off talking about how he's ranked the girls of the academy, figuring out which ones would be "worthy" to kill. Like i said, i know V3's ending was fake and the anthologies are non-canon, but i do think Korekiyo would be a good fit for a list like this. Maybe not for disturbing characters in *all* video games, but definitely on a list for disturbing Danganronpa characters next to Junko and Monaca.
Though Kiyo is creepy, i feel like he also has a lot of sympathy. It's implied his sister manipulated him and his execution gives a bitter end to his story, where his sister, the one person he really loved and cared about kills him. That, and though he is creepy when you know what his motives are and look back at previous actions, he doesn't feel like a looming threat. Not to mention, the Danganronpa series has a number of characters who have killed outside of the games, like Toko, Maki, and Peko (and likely Fuyuhiko, though he likely never killed someone he likely caused many deaths) (Mondo is technically responsible for his brothers death though did not kill him)(along with the entire cast of SDR2 sans Chiaki)
I think that list is cannon. If I remember straight, Korekiyo mentions that Maki and Miu were the only girls not worthy for his sister in the third trial.

If we’re talking about disturbing in terms of abilities and stuff like that rather than physical appearance, I’d have to go with 47. The idea of a killer assassin who is unknown, have improved senses, strength, speed, intelligence, is able to control his surroundings just to kill someone without a trace is quite disturbing to think about. He’s killed 100s and shaped an entirely new world, and people don’t even know who he is.

Hello, I’m someone who’s played the game Smile For Me as well as its epilogue, and I’ve noticed some stuff you’ve missed in this video regarding Dr. Habit. (I apologize for the length of this comment) - While it’s true that he was planning on stealing the habitaticians’ teeth, this was actually for “the greater good”, as he later states in the epilogue. He wanted to find purpose in life after wasting many years of his life to the career his parents forced him into. -Said career is dentistry, which he puts towards his goal of making the world smile by taking the teeth of “frowners” and putting it towards helping others smile. While it’s unclear wether he would do this by implanting them into his own smile (evidenced by his three rowed smile during the big event and his statement of ‘If smiles are contagious, I am a bio weapon’) or giving them to people who have imperfect smiles but are still happy. -As for his backstory, his spite towards frowners can’t be drawn from him “not having teeth of his own as a child”, rather, it can be drawn from his abusive parents. His father was physically abusive and knocked out some of his teeth, leaving his smile “imperfect”. In Habit’s diary pages he states that they frown often and never smile, which is the reason he grew a flower in order to try to cheer them up. The only reason he went into dentistry was because he found a bright side to his predicament, seeing it as a way to help people smile. -And as for Habit’s puppet: he isn’t really that scary? Unless you have a phobia against puppets and such, he really doesn’t seem that disturbing? Sure, he’s slightly unsettling, but compared to most media in the horror genre it’s rather tame. -Staying up late in Smile For Me doesn’t result in Habit doing anything to you. He merely shows you a creepy video (often just footage of a dark hallway with Habit’s voice over, usually just him trying to scare you by using lines like ‘can you see what’s at the end of this hall?’ And ‘this is my domain’) -The big event was a last ditch attempt to make people happy. He tried to do something good, but his execution was terrible and unorthodox. This can be because of a mental breakdown or psychotic break he might have been experiencing, evidenced by his emotional issues. Multiple characters talk of him crying often and being a very kind person, such as Kamal stating him being a big softie and Tiff saying she’d hate to “make a big lug like him cry” by leaving her contract with him. Kamal even goes as far as saying that when Martha rusts because of the rain one day, he breaks down crying and steals everyone’s toothbrushes to clean her. What I’m basically trying to say is: I don’t think Habit belongs on this list. I’m not stating your opinion of him is wrong or anything of that magnitude, just that I don’t agree with this choice for the tenth spot. He’s not really a villain, more like an antagonist. “Villain” would imply he sought out to hurt others, (it’s stated that he hates violence, which is supported by the multitude of no punching posters plastered all over the habitat) which is far from the truth.

Honestly, Bumpy isn't as bad as everyone thinks (but that's mostly because I'm a fan of true crime stories and I've heard SO MUCH WORSE). I would honestly put Albert Desalvo as number 1 since if even the game refuse to show the aftermath, you know how f****d up the character is. Also I know it seems unfair to compare video games to real life crimes and I get that, but like how he said Desalvo is a name of a real life serial killer. Not to mention even in the games they can add such a brutal crimes like Desalvo did

What makes the Shadow Queen work as opposed to most generic "dark demons of darkness" is that TTYD foreshadows her existence pretty heavily. Throughout the entire game you have this creeping suspicion that the "treasure" behind the titular Thousand Year Door is something horrible, something that must'nt be unleashed. Her existence isn't the only conflict in TTYD, but she is a evil force if nature that must not be allowed back into the world.

I think the most disturbing video game character has to be the G-man from the Half Life series, just by his voice alone you can tell something is off about him, every time he’s on screen you know he’ll affect the plot in a major way. You don’t know who or what he’s is or anything about him and the fact that he follows you throughout the whole games is just unsettling to me.

Ok I have no idea what the n°1 did but I really don't want to know like heck nope. Also if we're on the disturbing page, my mind goes to the killer in Corpse Party (it's a twist so i'm not telling who), because... just holy crap the gory stuff they done for that reason, holy crap. And Kamoshida from P5 because he's already disturbing to see with all of his horrible actions but the fact we get a glimpse inside of his head *makes it so much worse* with all of the gross pervy imagerie in there... And his shadow is just ew.
I was kinda thinking of Nika or Agatha, but they're both disturbing in a hilarious yet screwed up way. Nika doesn't really care for humanity except for Agatha, and wishes to destroy it and make her own perfect world, not to mention her alcohol addiction. Agatha is also pretty screwed up, as she feels remorseful, yet finds pleasure in killing animals and she also lies to them talking about Carnivorism, her religion she made. These are just my own opinions though.
The following comment contains spoilers for the fangame super danganronpa another 2. Kanade Otokonoji is hands down more disturbing than desalvo. And maybe Bumby but that’s debatable. This girl found out she could brainwash her twin sister Hibiki through trauma of the loss of loved ones after butchering her beloved dog with a kitchen knife at 4 years old. So as her lifelong project, she would murder anyone who got close to her beloved sister in cold blood and used this to manipulate her psyche into just being her puppet. And it’s even revealed that she planned to kill her own parents just so her sister would have to rely on her. Like yeah desalvo is an absolute monster, but it takes a special kind of messed up to traumatize your own family through repeated torture and murder. And the worst part is she isn’t insane. I dare say she is the most intelligent character in the game and easily guided the students through the first 2 trials. Also her facial expressions put Monaca and Kokichi to shame. And her motive for murder is literally just that she killed (and dismembered) her sister’s current best friend just to keep her depending on her. And in the end she was executed by hanging after watching her beloved sister be decapitated in front of her. And how does she react to this? A euphoric smile that looks almost as if she herself feels immense pleasure in watching her sister die. And she continues to smile as she slowly dies from suffocation. Hell the fucking mastermind is scared of her. I rest my case

9) The trope of a powerful evil sealed away only to release and be forced to be defeated by your hero.... Sounds alot like the "fan favorite" Paper Mario Game The Thousand Year Door. If they ever "decided" to remake the game, I would like them to give Grodus, the Shadow Queen, Shadow Sirens, at least more lore involved with them. They are forgettable for me. Heck, I find Count Bleck and his minions more fascinating as villains and even as characters than I do with anyone in TTYD... Bar Admiral Bobbery edit: well I was right on who I figured would be on the list. But if I have to say anything about the shadow Queen, it is underwhelming for me. I saw Grodus getting duped a mile away, and the fact that if Super Paper Mario would have been in the same gameplay style as TTYD, it would have basically been overshadowed in every single way. Heck, When I played Origami King, I found myself enjoying the villain King Olly and his own Legion of Stationary as characters with hilarious personalities over Grodus, the Shadow Queen, Shadow Sirens, and Lord Crump. I know TTYD is a fan favorite, but my placement of the game in comparison to the 6 Paper Mario Games in general actually places it in the Bottom half of the 3 Paper Mario Games.

Personally I thought the part where she seemingly died was really well done, and I liked the cryptic letters you started getting from her afterwards, but her turning out to have been fine all along in the ending took a lot away from the impact of her previous scenes.
@@anonymoususer9197 No. Chara is a character in the game, addressing them doesn’t mean addressing the player. Saving and loading is cannon. So is exp and Lv. He does have you dodge the names but it’s hard for me to imagine that dodging credits is cannon, especially with the fact he enters a form he should not have access to at that point in the story. It’s an easter egg. The plot twist in Undertale isn’t that people are aware they are in a video game it’s that the 4th wall breaks aren’t really 4th wall breaks. With the obvious exceptions of the previously mentioned name list which I doubt is really happening. As well as the dirty hacker ending but that’s also almost if not certainly non-cannon.

Although Sato from The Hex was an obvious pick, i found myself more pants-wettingly freaked out by Reginald the barkeep. Even before the plot twist, i got this weird sinister feeling from him as he slowly stared at everyone from across the counter. It was like his whole personality from actions to dialogue felt designed to be uncomfortable. Not only that, but the subtle hints of his backstory like the genie cat saying Weasel Kid was built on a dead video game. Finally, when the backstory hits and you play the first game whilst him and Irving talk it out, and then he goes all on a cult-like spewl, saying the hard as hell line "Tonight we shall all be killers." Then KILLING THE GOD DAMN GAME DEVELOPER WITH A REAL LIFE HAND ALL THE WHILE CREEPY VIDEO GAME NOISES CONTAUGHT INTO SCREAMS ALMOST THAT PLAY INTO THE CREDITS, It's a creepy work of god damn art. Hex is good and underrated is what i'm saying.
I could make a case for a pick of my own for this list. Funnily, it's from a mobile game, and you wouldn't think from the look on the cover that it gets as dark as it does. But I would pick Mephisto from Arknights. Ok ok, lemme explain. For anyone that doesn't know, Arknights is a tower defense with Gacha style characters, but it has a really good and at times really depressing story. It revolves around a planet called Terra which is plagued by severe storms called Catastrophes that forced the inhabitants to make their cities mobile. With catastrophes came a dangerous but useful black mineral called originium, used in a variety of things including originium arts, a physics-based type of magic, pretty much. However, Originium exposure causes a terminal disease called Oripathy that's basically like Cancer, but it also makes black rocks form on your skin and turns you into a source to spread the infection when you eventually die. However, infected that have the disease are badly mistreated, leading to a revolt by a group called "The reunion movement" led by Talulah Atlas. And so, to combat the disease and stop Reunion, "Rhodes Island" formed, a medical R&D company with a paramilitary branch working from a mobile landship of the same name, and Led by Amiya, Dr. Kal'tsit, and the player character, known as "The doctor". On a side note, no true humans exist on the planet and all are the typical "looks human but has animal ears or features" type. Though some of them are legit animals and some are anthro animals. So Who is mephisto? Well, He's one of Reunion's squad leaders, all of which are infected. Long story short, Mephisto used to be known as Eno/Ino, and had a rough home life and became infected when a shard of originium was shoved down his throat, making him unable to sing anymore, which was a favorite thing for him and his friend Sasha A.K.A Faust. As a result, He cracked and joined reunion as their Medic and squad leader, Faust becoming another squad leader with a crossbow and always staying by mephisto. So why is Mephisto specifically disturbing? Well, He lost his mind and is now the type of kid to torture his own soldiers and anyone else around him for fun, to the point that most squad leaders except Faust hate his guts. But that's not the worst of it. The worst...was what happened when they took over Chernobog city in Ursus (A.K.A Russia.) Spoilers ahead for arknights fans. And if you're squeamish don't read. From the Children of ursus event and an ursus operator known as Rosa, we learn that mephisto gathered a massive group of highschool students (says middle school but i've heard that's a translation error, the devs aren't American) including a bunch of students from noble bloodlines (Aristocrats) and put them in a forced lockdown for ten days with only one food reserve as the other was burned. The kids had free will within the school, but couldn't leave. as a result, the regular students formed a gang led by Sonya A.K.A "General Zima", and Rosa, then known as Natalya Rostova, noble student council, led the nobles'. Rosa couldn't stop the nobles' from fighting, and fearing she had no other choice as the students were all willing to kill eachother, let them take from the regular students. When a 2nd fire broke out by accident, which was Zima's fault, the nobles gang disbanded and Rosa fled, Saved by Zima. But that's not all. Because of the 2nd fire, the last food reserve burned down and the students murdered eachother, some resorting to cannibalism. Zima, feeling responsible for the fire, which she caused in an attempt to kill Rosa prior to disband the nobles and give them more food, and having to kill so many students, now has PTSD with recurring nightmares of being blamed by herself and her friends. Rosa, Feeling guilt over letting The nobles steal, And realizing she may not be the kind noble she once believed she was, considered killing herself with a letter opener multiple times to atone for it. Istina, one of Zima's closest friends, Lost her friend Vika who fell to her death and Istina couldn't save her, leading to guilt and hallucinating Vika to still be there, even talking to her. Gummy, Was trapped in a dark space and was starving so bad that she had to eat the dead students to survive. Now she hates the dark and can't chop 3 times in a row when cooking, otherwise she puts her full power into the third swing, because she used the third chop to chop through bones. And then there's Leto, the unreleased Operator, who tried to reason with mephisto to get them more food. All he told her was "your suffering's just beginning" and let her go back empty handed. She's probably the least affected but still has her own smaller troubles. Eventually Zima and the others, becoming part of the "ursus student Self-governing group" made it out of the school and into the ruins of the city which was even more dangerous and lacking in resources. Though they all eventually were rescued by Amiya in a humanitarian relief effort, they all still suffered from the event and refuse to speak about it. Why did mephisto do it? He was ordered to keep the students out of the way to prevent them from getting infected. Causing the first fire and letting them start to butcher eachother was something he did all on his own. So yeah, He's a really messed up character.
I feel like the one thing about Monaca that dampens her disturbing factor is her second and final appearance, The Danganronpa 3 anime. It starts off creepy enough with her hair being styled in the same way as Junko to imply she's become the successor and the implication that she snuck into the Future Foundation building and has been hiding through the air vents....buuut over the course of the next few episodes she becomes a bit more comedic and then by the time they confront her she's written off the show in the silliest way possible....by shooting herself into space.
Who else thought the second Katana Zero was brought up and he shot down V as the contender that he was going to talk about Comedy and Tragedy (And who else is dying for the part two update)?

Doof's backstories varied from extremely goofy to downright disturbing abuse like his mother pretty much turning the Drusselstenian Santa Claus into a horror story to keep him from "misbeheaving"
For those curious to Bumby’s backstory:
Angus Bumby was a student of Alice’s father when Alice was just a child. He became obsessed with Alice’s older sister Lizzy, making inappropriate advances towards her even though she had made it clear that she couldn’t stand him. He began stalking her, even once following her into the ladies room at Waterloo Station. Finally one night, Bumby snuck into the Liddell’s home where he had his way with poor Lizzie as she slept and then killed her. To cover his tracks, he set the whole house on fire, not anticipating that Alice would survive.
Cut to the present time of the game:
Bumby runs the orphanage where Alice lives, where he uses hypnotism to erase the memories of the children’s horrible pasts, including Alice’s. He’s actually erasing all of their memories, in order to make them living puppets that he pimps out to London’s elite.
He’s a creepy af character, and now you understand why

BTW, the time period of both of these stories indicate that we are talking about the actual asylums: treppening, using leeches, throwing new perscriptions on the wall to see if it sticks, everything. Alice was in hell.

Another Danganronpa character i'd like to point out, though some, maybe most may not agree - Korekiyo Shinguji.
Why? Aight lemme go off (SPOILERS FOR V3!!)
So i'm a big fan of Kiyo, he's one of my top 3 characters and my favorite character. I know for a fact most people have found him to be a strange, creepy character, but in my opinion, when you take into account what you learn about him at the end of Chapter 3's trial, it ups the creepy factor. Despite the fake backstories created, the students were living with a serial killer who killed close to 100 girls. In Kaede's Free Time Events, Kiyo says she'd be a wonderful friend for his sister. Kaede, who dies before Chapter 2, just goes along with it and says she'd love to meet her one day. Especially in the manga anthologies, although they are non-canon, there's an entire story that takes place after Kaede is executed, and Kiyo starts the story off talking about how he's ranked the girls of the academy, figuring out which ones would be "worthy" to kill.
Like i said, i know V3's ending was fake and the anthologies are non-canon, but i do think Korekiyo would be a good fit for a list like this. Maybe not for disturbing characters in *all* video games, but definitely on a list for disturbing Danganronpa characters next to Junko and Monaca.
Though Kiyo is creepy, i feel like he also has a lot of sympathy. It's implied his sister manipulated him and his execution gives a bitter end to his story, where his sister, the one person he really loved and cared about kills him. That, and though he is creepy when you know what his motives are and look back at previous actions, he doesn't feel like a looming threat. Not to mention, the Danganronpa series has a number of characters who have killed outside of the games, like Toko, Maki, and Peko (and likely Fuyuhiko, though he likely never killed someone he likely caused many deaths) (Mondo is technically responsible for his brothers death though did not kill him)(along with the entire cast of SDR2 sans Chiaki)
I think that list is cannon. If I remember straight, Korekiyo mentions that Maki and Miu were the only girls not worthy for his sister in the third trial.

If we’re talking about disturbing in terms of abilities and stuff like that rather than physical appearance, I’d have to go with 47. The idea of a killer assassin who is unknown, have improved senses, strength, speed, intelligence, is able to control his surroundings just to kill someone without a trace is quite disturbing to think about. He’s killed 100s and shaped an entirely new world, and people don’t even know who he is.

Hello, I’m someone who’s played the game Smile For Me as well as its epilogue, and I’ve noticed some stuff you’ve missed in this video regarding Dr. Habit. (I apologize for the length of this comment)
- While it’s true that he was planning on stealing the habitaticians’ teeth, this was actually for “the greater good”, as he later states in the epilogue. He wanted to find purpose in life after wasting many years of his life to the career his parents forced him into.
-Said career is dentistry, which he puts towards his goal of making the world smile by taking the teeth of “frowners” and putting it towards helping others smile. While it’s unclear wether he would do this by implanting them into his own smile (evidenced by his three rowed smile during the big event and his statement of ‘If smiles are contagious, I am a bio weapon’) or giving them to people who have imperfect smiles but are still happy.
-As for his backstory, his spite towards frowners can’t be drawn from him “not having teeth of his own as a child”, rather, it can be drawn from his abusive parents. His father was physically abusive and knocked out some of his teeth, leaving his smile “imperfect”. In Habit’s diary pages he states that they frown often and never smile, which is the reason he grew a flower in order to try to cheer them up. The only reason he went into dentistry was because he found a bright side to his predicament, seeing it as a way to help people smile.
-And as for Habit’s puppet: he isn’t really that scary? Unless you have a phobia against puppets and such, he really doesn’t seem that disturbing? Sure, he’s slightly unsettling, but compared to most media in the horror genre it’s rather tame.
-Staying up late in Smile For Me doesn’t result in Habit doing anything to you. He merely shows you a creepy video (often just footage of a dark hallway with Habit’s voice over, usually just him trying to scare you by using lines like ‘can you see what’s at the end of this hall?’ And ‘this is my domain’)
-The big event was a last ditch attempt to make people happy. He tried to do something good, but his execution was terrible and unorthodox. This can be because of a mental breakdown or psychotic break he might have been experiencing, evidenced by his emotional issues. Multiple characters talk of him crying often and being a very kind person, such as Kamal stating him being a big softie and Tiff saying she’d hate to “make a big lug like him cry” by leaving her contract with him. Kamal even goes as far as saying that when Martha rusts because of the rain one day, he breaks down crying and steals everyone’s toothbrushes to clean her.
What I’m basically trying to say is:
I don’t think Habit belongs on this list. I’m not stating your opinion of him is wrong or anything of that magnitude, just that I don’t agree with this choice for the tenth spot. He’s not really a villain, more like an antagonist. “Villain” would imply he sought out to hurt others, (it’s stated that he hates violence, which is supported by the multitude of no punching posters plastered all over the habitat) which is far from the truth.

What makes the Shadow Queen work as opposed to most generic "dark demons of darkness" is that TTYD foreshadows her existence pretty heavily. Throughout the entire game you have this creeping suspicion that the "treasure" behind the titular Thousand Year Door is something horrible, something that must'nt be unleashed. Her existence isn't the only conflict in TTYD, but she is a evil force if nature that must not be allowed back into the world.
If you don’t know, Bumby “did” Lizzie and then killed her. After that, He burned down the house. This is probably why He is wanted to erase Alice’s memories.

I think the most disturbing video game character has to be the G-man from the Half Life series, just by his voice alone you can tell something is off about him, every time he’s on screen you know he’ll affect the plot in a major way. I was kinda thinking of Nika or Agatha, but they're both disturbing in a hilarious yet screwed up way. Nika doesn't really care for humanity except for Agatha, and wishes to destroy it and make her own perfect world, not to mention her alcohol addiction. Agatha is also pretty screwed up, as she feels remorseful, yet finds pleasure in killing animals and she also lies to them talking about Carnivorism, her religion she made. These are just my own opinions though.

Kanade Otokonoji is hands down more disturbing than desalvo. And maybe Bumby but that’s debatable. This girl found out she could brainwash her twin sister Hibiki through trauma of the loss of loved ones after butchering her beloved dog with a kitchen knife at 4 years old. So as her lifelong project, she would murder anyone who got close to her beloved sister in cold blood and used this to manipulate her psyche into just being her puppet. And it’s even revealed that she planned to kill her own parents just so her sister would have to rely on her. Like yeah desalvo is an absolute monster, but it takes a special kind of messed up to traumatize your own family through repeated torture and murder. And the worst part is she isn’t insane. I dare say she is the most intelligent character in the game and easily guided the students through the first 2 trials. Also her facial expressions put Monaca and Kokichi to shame. And her motive for murder is literally just that she killed (and dismembered) her sister’s current best friend just to keep her depending on her. And in the end she was executed by hanging after watching her beloved sister be decapitated in front of her. And how does she react to this? A euphoric smile that looks almost as if she herself feels immense pleasure in watching her sister die. And she continues to smile as she slowly dies from suffocation. Hell the fucking mastermind is scared of her.

9) The trope of a powerful evil sealed away only to release and be forced to be defeated by your hero.... Sounds alot like the "fan favorite" Paper Mario Game The Thousand Year Door. If they ever "decided" to remake the game, I would like them to give Grodus, the Shadow Queen, Shadow Sirens, at least more lore involved with them. They are forgettable for me. Heck, I find Count Bleck and his minions more fascinating as villains and even as characters than I do with anyone in TTYD... Bar Admiral Bobbery
edit: well I was right on who I figured would be on the list. But if I have to say anything about the shadow Queen, it is underwhelming for me. I saw Grodus getting duped a mile away, and the fact that if Super Paper Mario would have been in the same gameplay style as TTYD, it would have basically been overshadowed in every single way. Heck, When I played Origami King, I found myself enjoying the villain King Olly and his own Legion of Stationary as characters with hilarious personalities over Grodus, the Shadow Queen, Shadow Sirens, and Lord Crump. I know TTYD is a fan favorite, but my placement of the game in comparison to the 6 Paper Mario Games in general actually places it in the Bottom half of the 3 Paper Mario Games.
Honestly, if Origami King didn't have an absolute dumpster fire of a battle system, there's a good chance I would've liked it.

Out of curiosity, why was Sugar Plumps originally Number 10? I've played the game a while back and I can't remember her being that disturbing.

Personally I thought the part where she seemingly died was really well done, and I liked the cryptic letters you started getting from her afterwards, but her turning out to have been fine all along in the ending took a lot away from the impact of her previous scenes.

@@anonymoususer9197 No. Chara is a character in the game, addressing them doesn’t mean addressing the player. Saving and loading is cannon. So is exp and Lv. He does have you dodge the names but it’s hard for me to imagine that dodging credits is cannon, especially with the fact he enters a form he should not have access to at that point in the story. It’s an easter egg.
The plot twist in Undertale isn’t that people are aware they are in a video game it’s that the 4th wall breaks aren’t really 4th wall breaks. With the obvious exceptions of the previously mentioned name list which I doubt is really happening. As well as the dirty hacker ending but that’s also almost if not certainly non-cannon.

@@anonymoususer9197 Even if Chara is an in game version of the player which I do believe works. She is still in the game. It’s not a 4th wall break if it’s in universe what’s happening.
As a light-hearted topic for next year, how about top 10 creepy, yet funny characters?
Although Sato from The Hex was an obvious pick, i found myself more pants-wettingly freaked out by Reginald the barkeep. Even before the plot twist, i got this weird sinister feeling from him as he slowly stared at everyone from across the counter. It was like his whole personality from actions to dialogue felt designed to be uncomfortable. Not only that, but the subtle hints of his backstory like the genie cat saying Weasel Kid was built on a dead video game. Finally, when the backstory hits and you play the first game whilst him and Irving talk it out, and then he goes all on a cult-like spewl, saying the hard as hell line "Tonight we shall all be killers." Then KILLING THE GOD DAMN GAME DEVELOPER WITH A REAL LIFE HAND ALL THE WHILE CREEPY VIDEO GAME NOISES CONTAUGHT INTO SCREAMS ALMOST THAT PLAY INTO THE CREDITS, It's a creepy work of god damn art.
Hex is good and underrated is what i'm saying.
I could make a case for a pick of my own for this list. Funnily, it's from a mobile game, and you wouldn't think from the look on the cover that it gets as dark as it does. But I would pick Mephisto from Arknights.
Ok ok, lemme explain. For anyone that doesn't know, Arknights is a tower defense with Gacha style characters, but it has a really good and at times really depressing story. It revolves around a planet called Terra which is plagued by severe storms called Catastrophes that forced the inhabitants to make their cities mobile. With catastrophes came a dangerous but useful black mineral called originium, used in a variety of things including originium arts, a physics-based type of magic, pretty much. However, Originium exposure causes a terminal disease called Oripathy that's basically like Cancer, but it also makes black rocks form on your skin and turns you into a source to spread the infection when you eventually die. However, infected that have the disease are badly mistreated, leading to a revolt by a group called "The reunion movement" led by Talulah Atlas.
And so, to combat the disease and stop Reunion, "Rhodes Island" formed, a medical R&D company with a paramilitary branch working from a mobile landship of the same name, and Led by Amiya, Dr. Kal'tsit, and the player character, known as "The doctor". On a side note, no true humans exist on the planet and all are the typical "looks human but has animal ears or features" type. Though some of them are legit animals and some are anthro animals.
So Who is mephisto? Well, He's one of Reunion's squad leaders, all of which are infected. Long story short, Mephisto used to be known as Eno/Ino, and had a rough home life and became infected when a shard of originium was shoved down his throat, making him unable to sing anymore, which was a favorite thing for him and his friend Sasha A.K.A Faust. As a result, He cracked and joined reunion as their Medic and squad leader, Faust becoming another squad leader with a crossbow and always staying by mephisto.
So why is Mephisto specifically disturbing? Well, He lost his mind and is now the type of kid to torture his own soldiers and anyone else around him for fun, to the point that most squad leaders except Faust hate his guts. But that's not the worst of it. The worst...was what happened when they took over Chernobog city in Ursus (A.K.A Russia.) Spoilers ahead for arknights fans. And if you're squeamish don't read.
From the Children of ursus event and an ursus operator known as Rosa, we learn that mephisto gathered a massive group of highschool students (says middle school but i've heard that's a translation error, the devs aren't American) including a bunch of students from noble bloodlines (Aristocrats) and put them in a forced lockdown for ten days with only one food reserve as the other was burned. The kids had free will within the school, but couldn't leave. as a result, the regular students formed a gang led by Sonya A.K.A "General Zima", and Rosa, then known as Natalya Rostova, noble student council, led the nobles'. Rosa couldn't stop the nobles' from fighting, and fearing she had no other choice as the students were all willing to kill eachother, let them take from the regular students. When a 2nd fire broke out by accident, which was Zima's fault, the nobles gang disbanded and Rosa fled, Saved by Zima.
But that's not all.
Because of the 2nd fire, the last food reserve burned down and the students murdered eachother, some resorting to cannibalism. Zima, feeling responsible for the fire, which she caused in an attempt to kill Rosa prior to disband the nobles and give them more food, and having to kill so many students, now has PTSD with recurring nightmares of being blamed by herself and her friends.
Rosa, Feeling guilt over letting The nobles steal, And realizing she may not be the kind noble she once believed she was, considered killing herself with a letter opener multiple times to atone for it.
Istina, one of Zima's closest friends, Lost her friend Vika who fell to her death and Istina couldn't save her, leading to guilt and hallucinating Vika to still be there, even talking to her.
Gummy, Was trapped in a dark space and was starving so bad that she had to eat the dead students to survive. Now she hates the dark and can't chop 3 times in a row when cooking, otherwise she puts her full power into the third swing, because she used the third chop to chop through bones.
And then there's Leto, the unreleased Operator, who tried to reason with mephisto to get them more food. All he told her was "your suffering's just beginning" and let her go back empty handed. She's probably the least affected but still has her own smaller troubles.
Eventually Zima and the others, becoming part of the "ursus student Self-governing group" made it out of the school and into the ruins of the city which was even more dangerous and lacking in resources. Though they all eventually were rescued by Amiya in a humanitarian relief effort, they all still suffered from the event and refuse to speak about it.
Why did mephisto do it? He was ordered to keep the students out of the way to prevent them from getting infected. Causing the first fire and letting them start to butcher eachother was something he did all on his own. So yeah, He's a really messed up character.
This is indeed a disturbing universe
I feel like the one thing about Monaca that dampens her disturbing factor is her second and final appearance, The Danganronpa 3 anime. It starts off creepy enough with her hair being styled in the same way as Junko to imply she's become the successor and the implication that she snuck into the Future Foundation building and has been hiding through the air vents....buuut over the course of the next few episodes she becomes a bit more comedic and then by the time they confront her she's written off the show in the silliest way possible....by shooting herself into space.
