    Angkor Wat is definitely the best place to visit in Cambodia. If you live here for two years, it's FREE! Wonder where you are now, as you mentioned that it was two days before Valentine's Day. Safe travels 😎😎

    After the war ended, I moved to Siemp Reap. Back then, Angkor Wat was deserted, barely anyone there. I was there alone someday, I could almost do whatever I want back then because no one took charge of the building. At noon time, I took a nap inside Angkor Wat because it was cooler. I could smell bat, smell the building. I was lucky and unlucky the same time. I had a chance to explore the entire Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom. There was a deep hole in the middle of Angkor Wat. I wish I could have a flashlight to see how deep and to see what was in there. I am now in America and never went back since I left the country. I have a lot of stories about Siem Reap and Angkor Wat which I don't want to share.

      Wow I live in England UK and something is drawing me to go there. I have had spiritual experiences nobody will believe. I am glad I didn't do a PHD because I may let a few secrets and go missing.

    Great video! I really enjoyed your tour and commentary of the sites. If I could make one critique, the clips of the sites/buildings are too short. You showed the "landscape" shot of the buildings only for one or two seconds. This is my first time seeing these places and it would be appreciated to have a few more seconds to "drink in" the scenery that you are experiencing. Otherwise, I enjoyed this video. I wish you the best on your travels together. I will be watching more. Thank you.

    The steps are steep not because human’s feet back then were small and anything. The reason is just because the temple is dedicated to god, so they made it hard to climb to represent the devinity of gods.

  • @bdaralan
    @bdaralan ปีที่แล้ว +6

    The temple’s steps are steep by design. Angkor Wat was where the King lived; so if there were to be an enemy invasion or infiltration, they won’t be able to maneuver up the temple very easily.

    • @cecilschmid7167
      @cecilschmid7167 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry, but that's just wrong. No Khmer king ever lived inside Angkor Wat, as it was a temple, not a palace. The steps are steep partly by design, in order to make it more challenging to ascend towards heaven and the realm of the gods (of which Angkor Wat is a representation), and partly due to 850 yeara of erosion.

    Too much nationalism.
    We want tourists and archaeologists to learn the true history of what they saw or traveled thousands of miles to see. You don't just come to see it because of its beauty or amazingness. But you should also be aware of the true history. Not here to be tricked into believing.
    It should not be acceptable the distortion of history just so that the Khmer rulers can create nationalism for political purposes among the people and be able to influence them. Easier to govern.

    • @starmorning6197
      @starmorning6197 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It was made from muddy stones.

    • @cecilschmid7167
      @cecilschmid7167 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It was not made from "muddy stones" - the older temples in Angkor are mostly brick constructions, while the "newer" ones (like Angkor Wat itself) are mostly made out of sandstone.
