Hi Melissa. FTM & I took your advice on pumping a bit after each nursing session in the early months to build a storage supply of frozen milk. Best advice ever! Now that I a have been back at work, I have found that I cannot pump the same amount that I use to and it is stressful! Good thing I have some milk saved up! But on the other hand, that does not solve my inability to pump as much milk as before. Perhaps you could do a vlog on getting you milk supply up again after returning to work?
I love your videos! My baby is 4 weeks today & on day 3 of birth my baby was cluster feeding but that evening he was weighed & lost 10% of his birth weight & his jaundice level went up & had to be taken to the nursery to be in the bilirubin light for 2 1/2 days. Immediately I was given a pump & I pumped every 3 hours & would bring that to my baby & then he would receive formula. (I had a c section so I was able to stay til the second evening of him being in the nursery & them went home so he went about 12 hours if strictly formula), since then I've been trying to get my milk supply up but still have been needing to formula feed & now it seems he has gone through a growth spurt & will need anywhere from 2-4 oz of formula. First I breastfeed, then if he falls asleep on each (can be 10 min per breast sometimes) then I formula feed. I want to exclusively formula feed tho....I've started pumping after the breast & formula now too & I don't get much after. I've missed one feeding revelry & pumped & I got about 40ml of the combined too, I've been taking fenugreek for a few days now too, I'm just wondering if it's possible that I just can't make a lot, is it me? Am I not doing enough breast? I'm a SAHM so I'm able to be here.
Hi. I wonder how much have I already harmed my baby? I thought that I was supplementing until my milk came in. I think that I misunderstood what supplementing was. Now I'm worried when it does or if it ever do then will she even want it. She always reaches for my breast and she used to suck now she just reaches and get so frustrated she don't even suck. Now I'm thinking I've given her too much formula and now I have no choice but to bottle feed. Is there a way to reverse this? Or did I just screw everything up?!
Can you do a video on people that wanna combine feed not because of any physical issues, but that they have to go back to work? That seems to be a lot of people but its talked about very little on mom channels. Im gonna be working at different times when I go back to work, one shift is from 0730-1500 and other shifts are from 1500-2200. Im thinking if Im gonna be able to breastfeed at consistent times Ill have to breastfeed only in the morning and at night? Will my baby still get all of the "good stuff" and benefits from breastfeeding? and how soon before going to work should I start this routine? There will likely be very little time for me to pump at work, maybe once during a shift maybe not. So I dont want engorged painful breasts either, but at the same time I want my baby to have the antibodies and the benefits from breastmilk. Ill be going back to work when the baby is about 3-4 months old
Hi ! My baby is 5 weeks, 3 lbs over her birth weight and I'm going back to work Monday. I started pumping 2 Weeks ago and I was pumping 4 Oz of milk per breast in between feedings now she seems to cluster eat and now I pump 2 Oz both breast combined. She is eating 4oz per feeding and I only have enough milk to feed her for a day while I work. I feel the need to supplement with formula for her day time feedings, pump at work, come home and breast feed her all night just until my stash is enough to where she can just eat breast milk. Do you think that's a good idea?
my baby is a month and not even close to her birth weight. despite nursing all day. she burns more then she takes in just because of her ULT. my pump output is no where close to enough to fully supplement her on top of bf to gain enough. so i have to supplement with formula.... i feel horrible about it.... but im doing what i have to
You should not feel horrible at all… just keep it up and over time, she might go back to EBF -- weight gain is the most important and you are doing a great, great job...
It's natural to feel defeated when you can't EBF, but women are much too hard on themselves when it comes to motherhood. You need to do what works best for you and baby and if she needs formula to thrive, you have NOT FAILED! Don't let your expectations or those of others make you feel bad about it. We do what we need to do and every baby is different. I'm wishing you and your LO all the best and that you may find comfort in whatever feeding method that ends up working for you both.
Hi. My baby is 18days old and she is 4.3 kg. my midwife said that she is growing very well. Actually I'm giving her both supplement and breastfeed because my milk is not enough for her at very first days and I give her only my milk but she cries and she wants every a hour and i was not feeling very well and I'm getting weaker day by day and yeah I had a lack of experience as well.. And now I'm feeling good, I can eat and I have milk too but I'm getting scard that if I give her only my milk then she might lose her weight!!!!
At night time I give her supplement milk which is like 3 time almost 90ml each time. And yeah when she was born, she was like 3.920kg I hope u can reply me as soon as u get It and get me out of these situations

I'm not sure how much my baby needs, and he's on formula. I do offer the breast, but he doesn't take a lot
