The side shot of your beard in this video is absolutely perfect. The contour of the mustache and beard is exactly how I'd like to grow mine, and it suits you excellently. I'm only 18 right now, I've got some scruff, but your shape (and Ricki Hall's) is always the vision I've had for my beard. Thanks for the encouragement and advice! I can't wait for my beard in a few years.
Thank you so much for addressing those horrible "in-between" months. I have almost shaved it all off twice a week every week this whole month. Im about 4.5 months and not an overly strong grower. Your vids are keeping me positive and in line. Thanks again Beard Baron
You are a lifesaver! I have never been able to get past 4-6 months because of that beard paralysis stage. You have answered so many of my questions and solved many of my problems from your other videos. I will be going by your advice exclusively from now on and will be purchasing from your website in the near future when my beard is of appropriate length. I just want to thank you so much! You really seem like you know what you're talking about
Great stuff. I discovered your channel a month ago when I was in the 2-3 week itch phase. Watching your videos has kept me from shaving, and now I'm almost 2 months into this journey for the first time in my life. You've got yourself another diehard fan, and future customer. I look forward to enjoying more videos, and testing out your beard care products!
I have been with my beard for 6 months, and I was tempted to cut it out, but I watch your video and then I realized I just need it to take of it, style it, and shape it. Now, I love it. Thank you man !
I really love your modern old fashion style. I wish men would sport the derby type hats that you wear. I am not brave like you to be out side of the box. I grew a 5 month beard last winter. I loved the experience. However, my wife threaten to leave me if I did shave it off. One day I shaved it off and REALLY had bad regret. I have started again for no shave November. let's see how far I can get this time. I may let her walk. ;) My one year update. I have let my beard grow out. I have about 6 months of growth and have loved the growing experience. Funny, I have taken the advice of the Beard Baron and its looks like his beard more and more everyday. My wife and I are divorcing. Its been a hard year, however, I keeping the my chin up.
+Mark Hoffman No shave november was my excuse to regrow mine too haha, decided this time I like it and I don't care what anyone says, no matter who :P. Keep getting told how thick mine is already but damn its nothing on this guys.
If your wife would leave you over a beard then you better check her ass. She doesn't love you to begin with and she is fuckin around already... Unless you're bullshitting
An old girlfriend, now best friend, has told me several times to not visit her if I grow a long beard. She's not seen me for maybe eight weeks and already it's probably more than she'll like. Mine grows thick and bushy with the biggest challenge keeping the hairs that stick out from getting too ragged looking. I trimmed it once and regretted it, and have adopted the sideburns trim.
I had dyed my beard pink in October for breast cancer support and pretty much shaved it down to nothing after that. Now I have decided to finally grow a full beard for the first time. I always only had the small groomed short "shadow" beard. Watching your videos has been really informative. Cheers!
Me too. I had to wear a respirator for thirty years, so I've chosen to grow my beard out, finally. All during my 20s and 30s I had a beard. The big difference now is that I want to learn how to best keep it.
My genetics served me extremely well considering I started growing a full thick beard with no patches at the age of 15, no idea how but I can say that even the teachers were envious of me, since then, over the years I have experimented with it, tried different shapes and different lengths but I never really let it grow that much being the impatient person I am, but you my good sir have sparked a flame of inspiration for me to grow out a long beautiful beard, and for that i thankyou
I agree with the personality thing, dude. Make it your own! Its great to see different types/styles. Everyone asks me when am I done??... truth is you're never done with a beard haha. Great video man! From the Wales in the UK.
Great video. I always appreciate the Beard Baron's simple and up front style of presenting information. No hipe, no exaggeration, just plan and matter of fact. He is a good spokesman for the educated beardsmen.
Best beard vids on TH-cam. I'm about 6 months in after being on and off for 20 years plus. Just hit 50 and loving my grey beard lol Just checked your picking vid out as I've always been a chronic picker. Great tips. Subscribed and loved :)
Just found you from a random product search and I really needed this vid to help me get to the next step. I've been trimming too much because I wasn't sure how to keep it going. Thanks so much!
Do the men in your family have beards? A lot of the times it's genetics but sometimes, SOMETIMES it's a lack of two things: Testosterone and proper skin care.
mustafa ahmed It's a mixture of factors really: testosterone does play a factor. Think of the woman who have sex changes, they have testosterone injections and as a result grow facial hair. The opposite is true if you inject men with oestrogen (female hormone) they lose facial hair, and grow thicker head hair (even if bold). You do however also grow perky boobs, and become an emotional mess. Depends on your priorities I guess!
Yea, my understanding is it’s more about how your body reacts to the testosterone. You could have high levels of testosterone but if you don’t have the generics you won’t grow a beard. So just be happy you’ll most likely have a good head of hair for most of your life. This coming from a 26 year old bearded, shaved headed (balding) guy.
I have to say that your videos have helped to boost my confidence like nothing else. Every time I get a bout of "beard panic" I watch one of your videos and you never fail to reign me back in. Keep the great videos and awesome info coming! PS. you have one of the most epic beards I've seen. Straight awesome.
Ur doing good bro, we need to spread the benefits of having a beard. These people just don't understand, that IF YOU ARE A MAN, THEN YOU MUST HAVE A BEARD.
Sons of Axe Compound weightlifting (Deadlifts, press, Squats etc.) increases testosterone which increases hair growth. It also makes you strong and healthy. You will get extra points for squatting heavy with a glorious beard/moustache.
Great video and logic with shaping and trimming. Best advice is the "When you're not sure if you're done, you've answered that question". When in doubt, grow it out!
all i got to say is thank you. in the past i looked at beard models and was envious and kept shaving my beard becausr it was patchy but now i will be growing it and rocking it!! and i have your videos to guide me thrue
You have inspired me my man. I'm 16 can grow facial hair but not that much since I haven't grown it out but you've inspired me to grow it out. Thanks my man
I think this is the best channel on utube I wish a lot more people on here gave good honest advice just like this chap, keep it up mate its lovely too have so much positivity about the Baird.
You have given me confidence to just let it grow. And now I can rock it for all it's worth and I love it. Just want to see where it can go in the future
This is my 5th month with my beard, and I started to get frustrated by the grown curly hair on the sides but your video have explained this phase very well. Keep up the good work.Thank you man!
But seriously man, that is a nice style you got going there. Love your style too man, going old fashioned I like that. Best beard and mustache I've ever seen
Your videos are outstanding. I think back over the last few years and I've been in some - if not all - of the scenarios you cover here. This time I'm really committed to growing a longer beard, so I'm looking forward to watching the rest of your videos on grooming to maintain some semblance of control. Keep up the good work, it's appreciated.
I'm attempting the beard 'solo' and in the midst of beard paralysis - an opportune time to come across your YT channel (the wife also thanks you). Thanks for your time and effort: very inspiring!
I love the motivation you give your viewers including me its great. I almost shaved mine off once but I plowed through it and now am looking to style it shape it and grow it more. Thanks man...
You saved a beard! I started growing my beard in February. It's been about 5 months. The wife has been telling me to shape it up. I had no idea on how to do that or what I want to do with my beard. JUST TODAY, I was thinking about just shaving it off (beard paralysis). Glad I watched your video. I'm going to think about what I want over the next few days and look at pictures, as you have suggested. I'm thinking ZZ Top but my beard is ALL bushy -- especially on the sides. If I trim off the really bushy stuff, I can see through my beard and see the skin underneath. I don't like that. I'm a big (very overweight) guy with a very round face.
I'm partial to the Ducktail style; but I also really liked Gerard Butler's Leonidas beard in 300. I personally wear my own combination of both. Very comfortable for, and I'm very happy with it. Just on point with what you were saying, "It's your beard. Have it your way."
I have a Texas beard (big wide-open spaces) but I've let it grow for about a year and even though I don't have a lot of growth yet, or maybe at all, but it has grown together since it got longer. Even though it looks kind of shaggy, I know it's going to be a big beard when the time comes. So if any of you guys have little to no growth, stick it out for a few months or a year or two. Trust me, it's worth it. You can do it!
the beard whisperer! im only a month in this is gonna be my first beard. I wanted to thank you for your videos! oil helped me fight the dreaded itch. the deal with a ptchy beard help me stay confidant knowing it'll get better.(looks kinda weird right now) im sure these videos are what kept me from shaving it off so i thank you.
Thank you for the encouraging words! I know there are some patches on my face, but this and your other video "How to Deal with a Patchy Beard" gave me the courage to try to grow it out! Thanks!
Man... you are a real inspiration. I'm working to rock out a big/long goatee to the best of my genetic potential. I need to start feeling more confident with my beard. My biggest upset is that my mustache grows separate than my beard. I have to do many tricks to keep the kind of goatee I like.
Loving the advice made me feel so much better about my beard Cos I do get jealous of other guys beards and I’ve learnt that patience is the key to everything with beards thankyou for your channel bruva
i am on my second beard. i shaved it once and then i was sad. i'm 2.5 months in now and thinking how to shape. love your vids. subbed. great beard man!
Great videos. Something else that I didn't notice you touching on is the considerations of one's own beard shape. So, I have a long face vice round, but my beard also is kind of different from most other folks. I've got a lot of Irish in my blood, so my beard comes in sort of thinner and patchier (particularly when it's shorter). It's very curly under my chin, and I've got one of the thickest mustaches I've ever seen. So, I recently attempted to reshape things, since it was getting a bit out of control with generally looking long and unkept. I trimmed back some fuzzies underneath and on the sides and trimmed my mustache as well. Only now to I realize that my mustache was one of the most prominent parts of my beard. Anyhow, I think people's strong and weak areas need to be taken into account when considering how to shape it.
after 1 whole year without shaving, i trimmed my beard today. only trimmed it so it was even all around, gonna let it grow and try different beard styles.
this guy is awesome lol. i grew a beard about 11 years ago but shaved it because it was itchy. since then for jobs and a ladies and such kept it clean shaven. sort of inspired by don draper from madmen. lately for some odd reason ive been feeling compelled to grow a beard. specifically a bushy goatee with shorter side beard. this channel has helped a lot and i ordered some beard oil from his website. god bless
Awesome Vids, I've been working on my own stiletto style myself, about 7 months in, lots of work to shape it right and to get the custom stuff in the beard that fits my face.
So glad I watched this! I just hit "beard paralysis" for the second time and was about to give in. After seeing a few of your videos I feel much more confident. Definitely subscribed.
Nice video man! I was in the Marines for 8 years and had to shave my face every single day!! Hated it...I got out last year and grew my beard until the "paralysis" point you described in the video and then shaved it off. I'm on month two of my second beard and really appreciate the tips on getting a good style for my beard when I reach that point again! Thanks bro!
I am a first time grower and loving my beard and your videos are great love how calm and collective you are! I am a slow grower and am three months in and can't wait to get some length to my beard so I can shape it and see what looks good on my face, maybe the six month mark I can have that length I want haha
Great Video Beard Baron! I let my beard grow for 2 months, and now it's pretty big. The sides grew and left my face with a round format. I'm thinking of trimming the sides to let my face thin, however I am afraid to trim too much and ruin everything. A suggestion for future videos is to add visual examples, as photos (before and after) or even real guys going to barber, showing how to shape the beard. It will certainly help and encourage many people.
Hey Kleber, just take it slow when trimming/shaping and if you feel you're not heading the right direction just stop immediately and let it grow out :)
Hi John, congratulations on your significant TH-cam & Facebook following, your personal responses to peoples queries has imo really contributed to your success, so please keep it up :) you mention in this video that you trim your cheek & neck lines. Like yours, my neck growth is quite full & wild but my cheeks are a little thinner, making me reluctant to trim anything above my jaw even though I would love to achieve a sharp line. Any advice (perhaps a video) on how you shape your neck & cheek lives would i'm sure be gratefully received. Many thanks, Dan (England)
Thanks for this video and the trimming video. I have reached the sixth month mark and I have been at that stage of " what am I going to do!?!?!?!" Thanks for the practical advice and tips and bringing some calm to my beard anxiety. This is my second attempt and it's been going well but now I think it will only get better. Thanks again.

Hey Gabriel, great to hear you're loving your beard! More videos are on the way!
This vid reminded me of the many times I've cut my beard because I thought I had to start over to add/subtract something. Now I know better.
New subscriber. I was in a line of work that prohibited beards. Now I'm retired after 30 years I growing it out. Unfortunately it's all gray now! 😟
+Hiker63 Thank you for subscribing!
+Hiker63 Same here, after 24 years ... and gray as well :)

Great video. I always appreciate the Beard Baron's simple and up front style of presenting information. No hipe, no exaggeration, just plan and matter of fact. He is a good spokesman for the educated beardsmen.
Right on man, I'm glad I discovered you. Thanks for the tips and inspiration!
You're welcome Kenneth, glad to have you on here!

Richard Lewis Glad to have you aboard anyways Richard!
Lets cry together, its okay to dream right? 😭
Do the men in your family have beards?
A lot of the times it's genetics but sometimes, SOMETIMES it's a lack of two things:
Testosterone and proper skin care.
mustafa ahmed It's a mixture of factors really: testosterone does play a factor.
Weirdly enough, those with high amounts of facial hair are far more likely to go bold, as beard growth and boldness are both linked to the same reaction to testosterone. So just be happy you’ll most likely have a good head of hair for most of your life. This coming from a 26 year old bearded, shaved headed (balding) guy.
I have never seen anyone rock a bowler as well as you sir. Well done.
Thank you Andrew, I appreciate it !
Great tips man, thank you
I have to say that your videos have helped to boost my confidence like nothing else. Every time I get a bout of "beard panic" I watch one of your videos and you never fail to reign me back in. Jessy Cormier You're welcome Jessy, best of luck with your beard!
That message at the end about not being envious and jealous of these models and shit, damn man, truth.
Ur doing good bro, we need to spread the benefits of having a beard. These people just don't understand, that IF YOU ARE A MAN, THEN YOU MUST HAVE A BEARD.
Here here I agree.
Thanks to you i started growing my beard and i couldnt be happier with it!

When in doubt, grow it out!

i am on my second beard. i shaved it once and then i was sad. i'm 2.5 months in now and thinking how to shape. love your vids. subbed. great beard man!
Thanks dude soooo much, for a 15 year old i needed a style instead of a big bushy beard, i have couple ideas!
awesome motivation!!!!! I just trimmed my beard, and now I miss it. Thank you
Great videos.
I m in the beard paralysis stage .thanks your video helped alot !
I was thinking of shaving it off. but, you changed my mind. Thanks.
after 1 whole year without shaving, i trimmed my beard today. only trimmed it so it was even all around, gonna let it grow and try different beard styles.
Angel Razo Sounds like you are on the right path!
Good advise man. I'm just started. Hopefully I'll manage to get a beard like you. Nice job!
this guy is awesome lol. i grew a beard about 11 years ago but shaved it because it was itchy. since then for jobs and a ladies and such kept it clean shaven. sort of inspired by don draper from madmen. lately for some odd reason ive been feeling compelled to grow a beard. specifically a bushy goatee with shorter side beard. this channel has helped a lot and i ordered some beard oil from his website. god bless
Epic video. I have a feeling I caught it right at the paralysis phase. Lucky for me because I was starting to consider drastic measures.
Jason Bennett Glad you found my video in time!
your videos are inspiring and very educational. thanks for your hard work!
You're welcome Robby, thanks for watching!
Thanks bro!
Thank you for serving Bradley! Enjoy your beard and just keep powering through until you get where you want to be!
Great vid, I'm currently at the beard paralysis stage & was really getting worried and ready to shave it off, I now feel reassured thanks 👍
Thanks for these videos. I have watched a bunch of them. I am working on my first beard and mustache, so this is very helpful.
I am a first time grower and loving my beard and your videos are great love how calm and collective you are! I am a slow grower and am three months in and can't wait to get some length to my beard so I can shape it and see what looks good on my face, maybe the six month mark I can have that length I want haha
Hey Timothy, thanks for watching! Enjoy your beard and if you have any questions just let me know!
Dude the beard is soooo dope!
Dude, Thank you sooooooo much for creating this TH-cam channel
You're welcome Ed, glad you're enjoying it!
you guys are lucky im still waiting for my beard to grow i'm gonna keep my hopes up
Hi John, congratulations on your significant TH-cam & Facebook following, your personal responses to peoples queries has imo really contributed to your success, so please keep it up :) you mention in this video that you trim your cheek & neck lines.
Daniel Lane I'll see what I can do Daniel!
Great to hear things are going well for you! That stage of the game can be tricky but it sounds like you've got things under control :)
Thanks for the props brother . I like what you do and you have a home with the alliance in Maryland. Keep up the good work!
