    At the marathon, take the shoe that is stable enough with enough bounce and light as possible. I loved the AlphaFly V2 until about 32k and then I started to feel the weight and water soaked feet. But running a marathon on a very hilly course in a post tropical storm is NOT IDEAL! LOL This is where I'm hoping the AlphaFly V3 is going to be the perfect marathon shoe...for me.
    All the major brands need to work on their weight for their targeted marathon racers, they have had enough time to get their foams right to catch-up to ZoomX. We need a more level playing field for shoes, so then it comes down to the best shoe for each of our unique feet, and not feeling like you have to settle for a lesser product.

    I have the rebel v4 and sc elite v4. Both midsoles need approx. 30 mile break-in. I just crossed 30 miles in the elite v4 and they feel amazing. Very comfortable at all paces and more bouncy now than they were out of the box.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks man that's great to know - planning to do a 20+ long run in these within the next few weeks so they should be broken in after that. It's weird because I've never had a 100% PEBA shoe that needed break in before

    Would love to hear adios pro 3 vs tyr valkerie comparisons. I prefer the less squishy 6mm drop of the adios pro 3 over vaporfly. the tyr looks to have a far better upper! Was a fan of the speed 3 as well except the horrible achilles slant/dig in design.

  • @Klian159
    @Klian159 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hum very intersting, I think we are all fooled that the NB sc elite v4 would feel much softer and squishy than before, cause on video the compression makes it look so nice and comfy like a cloud.

    Any shoes (super or otherwise) that fit the 3:30 - 4hr paces are well received.
    No point wasting money on a super shoe that doesn’t work at your effective pace.

  • @hamoudalnasser
    @hamoudalnasser 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    NB is the only brand to offer a racer in a wide fit. Part of me wonders whether I should just race in a plated trainer, gives me more options, as many brands accommodate wider feet in their trainers (I'm Regular heel, 2E midfoot w high arches and 4E toe splay. 1080 Extra wide fits me well. Triumph wide was also a decent fit). I haven;'t got my speed back yet, and am not quite ready for a full marathon race (training for a half, hoping to get it back below 1:30).

    Just got the NB V4 and took it for 11mi at marathon pace..much better than V3 which goes flat within a mile for me..V4 isn't quite as nice upper as V3 but feels about the same squishy and rolls smooth thru the foot strike..the V4 and the rocket x2 feel much alike at step in but not alike when running..for me the V4 feels faster and smoother and takes less effort to make her go..the only one I haven't tried that interests me this year is the Puma fastr V2..V1 is still the best upper I ever raced in..

    @kuriosites 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Just from my outside observation, the NB seems to have more of a long, sloping rocker, like the Mach 5 or More v4, where the TYR has a shorter, sharper forefoot rocker, more like the Metaspeed Sky+ or the Hyperion Max. With the sharper rocker, I feel like, as soon as I hit that pivot point, I'm rolling forward really fast.

    @anthonytorgerson4175 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great video! Considering the TYR. I am a heavier runner because I strength train a lot as well. I also have wide feet. So Nike's are out. What do you think between the Tyr or the new Hoka cielo. Thanks. Also, which New Balance shoe would you recommend between the SC trainer and the 1080v13. Thanks

    • @supwell
      @supwell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      TYR Valkyrie has a much more traditional running shoe feel and the Cielo X-1 feels super tall and rockered. Running warehouse measured the stack on the Hoka at 46mm in the heel, 39mm in the forefoot (it comes in under the 40mm legal limit for the pros due to the way the heel is measured officially, but it feels like that 46 for sure). The TYR feels more normal to run in but the Hoka gives more speed assistance from the super bouncy foam and rocker. TYR has better stability and is lighter weight - will probably have a bit better durability from the rubber coverage and beaded PEBA (I usually get 300 miles from that in Saucony's shoes). I would suggest the Hoka if you only want something for racing a marathon and the TYR if you want something to train in and race in - it would be great to pair with the 1080 and you could use the TYR for long runs with marathon pace and speedwork. SC trainer v2 is great as well but i prefer running my relaxed days in non-plated shoes and the 1080 is a better option for that

    I think I would rather choose the racer from New Balance before the TYR shoe 🤔 But for racing and tempo workouts I‘m trusting my good old Vaporfly next%2. Of course for racing and tempo workouts I wear different pairs of the Vaporfly next%2 😃 Maybe I will change my mind about down the river but for now it works for me very well 🙌 In the next hour I will find out if my right leg fully recovers from what ever or I have to rest more time 😃 Wish me luck ✌️🔥😍

      Because in my eyes that are the two brands right now are rocking the running market and not only with top of the chain racers. The whole variety of their shoes are so awesome 🙌 I mean you‘re experiencing it first hand 🙏

    Looks your HR is quite a bit lower in the TYR??

    • @supwell
      @supwell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I did feel the effort was a bit easier on the set that I did in the TYRs because I was warmed up already but there's no way I was at a 145 bpm at that pace - that's a watch tracking error. This COROS heart rate monitor is great sometimes and completely off other times. I don't train by heart rate but I may need to strap on the chest strap next time for more accurate data for these comparisons

    How would you slot the Diadora Gara relative to these two?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a super fun shoe but not as stable as these two, a bit of that softer, easier to compress foam like the Nike ZoomX/old version of fuelcell and a more aggressive forefoot rocker feel than either of these. More comfortable for everyday training paces than the SC Elite v4 - almost felt like an SC trainer v2 at my warmup paces and then shifted character and came alive for faster running. Really good rubber coverage on the Gara as well - took them on a light trail for the first run and they were great. Upper runs a bit long and narrow in the Gara and lockdown didn't feel as clean as in the TYR. Still need to do a 20+ mile long run in the Gara so stay tuned for another update after that

      @johnwhitesides566 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for that comprehensive response. I expected no less from a fellow Carolinian (I'm in Greensboro)!
      Do you attribute the relative instability more to platform narrowness (if any) or to the midsole foam?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      hahah i love it! and both - the platform on the gara is a little narrower and foam is a little softer than the tyr and new balance. but it's still more stable than a shoe like the vaporfly; it's just that the sc elite v4 and tyr are two of the best racers for stability @@johnwhitesides566
