The signal i give as a lead is an impulse in the direction the follower should move or turn. Besides from being a signal, the impulse already has started the movement which the follower just have to continue the movement. I have danced bachata with some absolute beginners and as long as they can keep the basic step and just follow we can do a lot. I had an exercise partner. Sometimes when I gave her a signal she tried to figure out what combination we were doing. That hesitation made her loose the beat. I asked her not to think. Now half a year later she just responds. I'm not a follower, but I'd guess that getting control over balance is a key to be able to respond to unexpected signals. And don't be afraid to misinterpret the signals. As long as we can stay on beat we just turn it to something different. When I began to dance socially I realized that I can't do every move with every follower. It doesn't matter if its her or me, I'll just have to adapt. And I have problems with some more advanced followers too, so it isn't just about your skill level. So stay on beat, relax and just enjoy the dance. And ignore any hickups. I'm at the social to enjoy myself with you, not to make a show for some audience.

When you partner is off timing we try put him back on few times but if doesn't work we adapt to his timing for that song 😇. No point in fighting , hopefully with time his timing will get better 😉

People in my classes or at least myself are in the beginner level. I don’t know how to do body roll nicely. It look like a chicken roll or spring roll rather than body roll, so we tend to avoid that move. Anticipating is my major problem. I tend to lead myself a lot. I found I follow better with a strong experience lead

Not sure if you've mentioned this before in another video, but what is a good frame? All the time, the partners I dance with say I am tol tense and that it's difficult to lead. So, how do I keep enough stability and balance and strenght, while not moving like a rock? 🙃

I feel your pain, we all go through that, I promise but it does get easier, just give it a bit of time and consistent practice 🥰.
