As a beginner in bachata I’ve been doing back leading too often. I’ve never done partner dancing really so I’m super grateful for these tips. thank you!
Your bonus tip is the most important, since it is the main purpose for the lead (as I am), is for her to enjoy the dance even more so than myself. The slightest positive acknowledgement is uplifting, yet her lack of contentment or joy) is a spirit crusher. Thanks !
New to this style and it is crushing for women to be pulled all over the place and have their personal space invaded with inappropriate touches at times by inexperienced guys and then being told to smile!!! So sexist and backward for these times and doesn’t feel empowering for women

Wow, this was so helpful!! In terms of just following a person who is leading in the dance. That’s power control and when to read cues. It’s much different than reading body language. Lol I’m loving the videos!! Very fortunate to have gotten to take your classes in person years ago. I always wanted to take more classes, but it was hard to make the drive during the week at night with my work schedule. These are so convenient!!! Love the digital content!! Thank you ❤❤❤
Backleading is so hard! I find Sensual Bachata, there are a lot of moves that are lead badly and you follow through with a move because they haven't blocked you, for example.
Just be encouraging and grateful. We follows sometimes are searching for more cueing maybe in the lead's body. We could talk more about body intention and alignment as cues in a faster paced social dancing environment.
I don't think there's anything wrong with backleading in Bachata. A decade ago it used to be taught explicitly in Dominican Bachata classes. I find sensual Bachata where moves are initiated by both people also more fun. It's unfortunate that the last ten years of teaching very complex patterns at dance studios got the paradigm that the follow shouldn't initiate anything across.
That's a head scratcher. Two people leading a dance is chaotic! Who is this guy? 😂 And where the hell is back leading ever taught?? Point me out to a video or something! I gotta see this bs. Who let this guy in??! Lol
@@ynotspank1 it's chaotic when there's no connection but not when you have connection. Connection is not something that's taught well on video. My most specific experience of it being taught was with Inaki Fernandez who was one of the teachers back then who popularized Bachata in the UK and was at all the international Bachata Festivals.
Thanks for your comment! We understand how it might seem confusing as to whether it's a dance lesson or not, but in this particular video, we are focusing on addressing common mistakes that ladies make in Bachata dancing. While it's not a full dance lesson, we hope to provide some helpful tips for improving one's Bachata dancing skills. Let us know if you have any questions or if there's anything else we can clarify!

It's a dance lesson! Clearly you're guilty of all these faux pas based on that funky ass response! Watch it again. 🤡
