How is it wild. You players over estimate the weakness of kickers. You have 33 preflop. You call. How many times have you missed a set on the flop? Very often, right? Feels like you never hit it? Well...same goes for flopping top pair along with someone else. There is a 1 in 8 chance you flop a set. You have Ace 3? Opponent has AQ? There is a 1 in 8 chance and ace comes on the flop. Yes. The odds of you hitting an ace and being outkicked is the same odds of you flopping a set. How about whiffing the flop with your set? How many times did you call a bet, and bank a set on the turn? Even LESS likely right? What's that? A 4 percent chance? Same ODDS in this scenario. Both players spiking top pair on the turn together share the same rarity of you spiking a set on the turn. When he turns top pair, the majority of the time, it is good. This is why Dwan was in shock about Luda not shoving the turn. You're ahead of Kj, KQ that may have raised the flop....as well as Ace 4,ace5 type backdoor flop raises. The rarity of your hand in this situation extracts max value by shoving the turn. A lot of you berated Tom's play with ace 3 shows you're thinking from a 1-2 mindset.
