    I bought the same car back in 1971 when I came back to the states as a 19 year old Marine. Great road car. Fast and fun around town. I put alot of miles on that car and probably should have kept it. Gas was $.28 a gal in them days leaded gas and no emissions. Big back seat and trunk. Mine was dark Green with black interior. Paid $800.00 for it and had it 4 years, sold it when I moved to Hawaii. Thats a really clean car your showing but I'm not sure that's a factory paint job really pretty color tho.
    THANK FOR The MEMORIES.

    Beautiful car Nick. My Dad got one of those brand-new for a company car in '66. The single guys in his company got Corvettes, my Dad got the Impala SS because he was a family man.
    My Dad''s was a lighter blue, but still a looker. I remember all the guys in my neighborhood came over to see my Dad and wanted to check out the new car.
    We went everywhere in that car.
    What a beauty you have there. I wish my Dad was still alive, what a great Christmas surprise your car would make.
    Thank you for making these great videos. Brings back lots of memories. One of these days I'm going to see a car in one of your videos I need to buy.
    Take care. See you then.

    Big Block 4 speed impalas with the guage cluster had the clock moved to the upper right quadrant of the guage cluster as the dash clock was replaced with the tach. Being the clock is in the dash, this was originally a small block car.

    Decent driver quality car. 2 dr hardtop, SS, big block and 4-speed make it desirable. Engine might be a bit tired. Note the blue (oil) smoke when he guns it. So either watch the oil comsumption closely or pull the engine and freshen it up. Looks like it could use a bit of work just fixing mostly little things. Be prepared to invest some dough, depending on how particular you are - or just drive it and put up with its (mostly pretty minor) shortcomings.

  • @robboid
    @robboid ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Gorgeous impala, but $32,900 for a driver quality car is a bit much. Really needs a repaint, might need an engine rebuild due to all the blue smoke , I guess at least the exhaust matches the car color. Tremendous potential, but would need $$$$ to make it worth the price.

    After the 70 Chevelle SS, the 66 Impalas and Biscaynes are my fav Chevy's. The 66's had the best tail-light design. Clean car Nick.

    Great car Nick, if I only had $33k sitting around. But then my 69 Chevelle would be just the way I would want it.! Lol. It's a driver, looks good from 15 feet away.! My friend had this car back in the early '90s , 454 4spd, but Pro Street was popular then, I begged him not to cut it up. He tubbed it, roll cage, 468 , 600 hp. automatic, 5.13 rear end, fuel cell. All black. Had to run racing gas. Grew tired of it after 2 years. Took a $25,000 loss to sell it.! Some people just won't listen to reason. Lol Ran into him years later, he's looking for another 66 Impala project car. Lol.

    Had a small block 327 in mine. Street raced it. One problem I had with it was I ripped the frame out twice after having it welded. The 3rd time replaced the frame again but this time with ladder bars. That really made it a solid rearend.

    The squeaky steering wheel is not a problem. When you take the steering wheel off to replace the turn signal switch, if that's the issue, that top bearing shouldn't be that difficult to put some lube in. Then replace that stock wheel with a 3 spoke 3 hole Grant wheel with either the hard vinyl black rim, my favorite or the foam grip, and make sure that the horn still works. Then start gathering up parts to freshen that 396 up. No big deal, it's a Chevy, so parts availability is easy compared to an FE Ford and it's so easy to pull a big block out of one of these. Seriously, beginner level.
