    Install a turbo on it, the turbo will not increase your top speed much but you will maintain the speed going up hills and at high elevations.

    I have the same machine. I debated getting the rear screen but decided to get the “bed seal kit” that is used on the sidekick instead. I found that the debris that gets down in my engine compartment was a bigger issue than breaking the rear glass. Time will tell.

      Hmmm
      I never thought about that. Good idea though.
      I’m not overly impressed with the quality of the screen that cost $300 + , but I really had no alternative.

    I have the same model and only use it for working in my forest. The reason for it lagging up the hill is the way the HST system is designed. I have several small inclines on my property and mine does the same. I can be fully loaded in the cargo area along with pulling a small trailer loaded and it will slow down, but it climbs it no problem. It just torques into climbing and not so much speed. I have a 60 gallon weed sprayer that fits in the cargo space and that's 500 lbs of water, the sprayer itself, which is probably another 100+ lbs. Climbs like a goat when loaded down. I also use it to plow snow when theres not enough fallen to bring out my tractor. I bought chains for it, but I keep it in 4 wheel drive the whole time and never had to use them yet. The gripe I have is the shifting is not as smooth as I wish it could be. I always have to push the brake to get it to stop and allow it to shift. Something I did was my foot kept slipping off the gas pedal. It's too smooth along with the brake pedal. I cleaned them with Acetone, roughed it with a wire wheel, taped them off with a large sheet of construction paper to protect the interior and sprayed both of them with Rustoleum Truck Bed spray. Let it cure for over a day and half. I noticed a big difference now. It leaves a nice thin textured surface.

      Great idea for the pedals ! I was thinking “no skid” tape. Like kids use on skateboards … or something you may use on stairs… but I think you hit on a better idea. I checked and I can’t find rubber pads to cover the petals. I could improvise but I don’t want them falling off. I get what you are saying about the speed. As a worksite vehicle it performs especially well with its ability to tow and haul, but with all that ability the loss of 10mph going up a slight incline is ridiculous. Oh, and yes…. The shifting is horrible. I actually need to release the brake, and “skoot” myself back and forth in my seat so that the transmission gears moves just enough to fall into place … annoying!!

      @@funnythirty yeah, I checked them yesterday and their not showing any signs of wear.

      @@funnythirty I usually pull my hand throttle all the way out and leave it out, use the foot feed to control the hydrostat. Helps on the hills and seems to help the shifting a little also. They get easier to shift over time.

    Can we get a follow-up on the wheel spacers? like to know how that turned out for you. I've put some on my bx tractor because of the hills in my yard, I believe it helped. even if it just makes me feel better.

    you were saying about speed drop when it comes to a hill if you have you air conditioner on turn it off,you may not have full speed but it will increase.

    • @funnythirty
      @funnythirty  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @davewight3748 haven’t had a chance to run the AC yet so I don’t think that’s the issue. It just bogs down to 14mph (max) when going up a hill on the street. Prob even slower off road. It’s not a game ender, it’s just annoying as there is no reason for it. No weight in the bed and the slope isnt even all that steep. My HST tractor doesn’t slow down, so why does this ? As I’ve mentioned. It’s nothing can’t deal with. Certainly not worth the extra $10k I’d spend on a Polaris Northstar . I’ll stick with it and complain, but I’ll have it forever because that diesel engine should never die the way I use the machine.

    It is designed much like a tractor, meaning not for speed, change it and you will break it.

    • @funnythirty
      @funnythirty  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure, and I absolutely get that. However, I’ve had a 25 horse tractor before and it had a hydrostatic transmission, and it never once slow down on hills, or lost any of its top speed ability, unless I was obviously pulling something extremely heavy or using a rear implement in the ground which would slow down any tractor not just a 25 hp one. It just doesn’t make sense to me that this 24 hp and diesel engine can’t make it uphill without losing half of its top speed. That being said, top speed is not a priority with me. It’s just annoying. I’ll keep it because I like itand I promise you I won’t break it

    My 2022 sidekick is junk. Bad Gas and water contamination of the crankcase oil. Been in the shop a month now with a warranty claim and dealer can not get help from the kubota rep to find the problem and a solution. Seems the 850 engines have a problem that can only be solved by throwing parts at them and Kubota is ignoring that. Don't waste your money on the sidekick look for a side by side from a reputable company that specializes in them. My buddybought a Ranger when I bought the sidekick and he has had zero problems and at 25 hours mine has been ib the shop a month with Kubota not caring..

      Dang… sorry to hear that…I’m hoping the diesel engine is tried and true. If not, I spent a boatload on a real problem unit
