So... you know the point of the blood games is to test the security of the defences and pretending to assassinate the Emperor? The video overblows it a bit but there's no way she would've actually destroyed Terra, it was just a different path to reaching the end goal of the blood games. Same end result, just different methods.
The point of the Blood Games is for the Custodian assigned to accomplish it to try to assassinate the Emperor by any means possible while the rest stop them, so that the Custodes can root out any vulnerabilities and better defend the Emperor and his Imperium. Seeing as killing Big E would roundly destroy Terra no matter how it's done, any truly successful Blood Games run would destroy the Imperium. Thankfully that's never happened, either because the plan failed (like it did here) or because the Custodian in question didn't take the shot that theoretically may have killed the Emperor.
As if no one ever thought of using exterminatus on Terra. It's just bad writing just to add a strong and independent woman.

Maybe that was the point of making a female custodian to begin with. After 10,000 years of attempts I believe the Custodes are getting out of ideas on how to challenge their own defenses, so they are now desperatelly trying to get different perspectives. If that was the plan It definitelly worked out, nobody had ever tried this one before.

Yeah, I'm good. I'm fine with sisters of silence. Sisters of battle are badass. Culexus assassins are rad. But a female custodes isnt really it. If one were possible, then it wouldn't be out of left field for a female space marine. They've opened the box and questions wont stop coming for why they dont exist.

Custodes : Human that is modified geneticly to Perfection. Like there is not really a restriction to who can became one.
(Why The first Custodes has no female mainly because they are Noble son (because they are usually heir of the family) from Terra Warlord and that is loyal and adversary to the emporer. Like offering a symbol of loyalty to emperor. )
Space Marine : Human Augmented Super Soldier with gene seed according to the primarch.
(Cant make Female space marine unless there is female primarch with female gene seed, maybe the missing 2 or Fabius Bile shit).
It’s less of a leap with custodes since they’re hand crafted and not based on geneseed

-age difference: astartes start the procedure at around 8-12 years old, custodes at 6 MONTHS of Age
-selection: astartes pass a screening test, custodes are all handpicked in the crib (and no, they are not all from noble families, but likely relatives are made noble to ensure future base materials were breed)
-purpose: astartes are weapon meant to be throw away at the end (they are in universe considered human Just on paper) with Only the 1st and 2nd founding being given rigth of retirment, custodes would have guided humanity and elevated It (aka breed to improve humanity)

Not really. One Custodian tried to drop an orbital platform onto the Imperial Palace, and another released a Genestealer infestation onto the planet. This is actually quite tame.
It is a retcon when
1- Previous Codexes, including the 9th edition one, and Black Library books state that the Custodes were taken from *sons* of Terran nobles. References to "Children" or "Daughters" did not exist until a week ago.
2- More importantly, until now, we had dozens of named Custode characters and models who appear throughout the lore and tabletop that were always male. Meanwhile, other factions from quite early on were full of mixed gender presence, including the inquisition, officio assasinorum, ecclesiarchy, mechanicum, and the imperial guard. If indeed having females was the plan all along GW would have inserted them much sooner, not waited a decade. Add to this the fact that when the tabletop models rolled out no plans were made to include female designs or even female heads, which is an implicit admission of intention
3- Because of points 1 and 2, to pretend that this move is not motivated by modern-day politics is extremely disingenuous.
You can like this change, you can if you want buy into the explanation of custodes being modified on a molecular level so regardless females can participate and survive the process compared to space Marines that are pumped full of androgynous hormones. But don't pretend this is not a retcon.
It has been stated that the writers wanted this change for over a decade and it was an EXECUTIVE that shot them down for over a decade. The writers have been leaving enough shit ambiguous for them to make it possible when the Executive that was stopping them is finally changed. These are the words from Aaron-Drembski Bowden, one of the main writers for Black Library and a massive Chaos fanboy.

@noneofyourbusiness I’m about 4 months late in replying to you, but your post is so staggeringly dumb I just had to chip in. The failure rate for Custodes creation is astronomically high. It’s some absurd 1 in a 1000 chance of working. If you allow women into that recruitment pool, then bam, you have twice as many potentially viable candidates.
Plus, the process remakes the person so completely that there’s no reason that a post-transformation female Custodes would be weaker than a male. There’s almost nothing left of their original body, and they only qualify as human in appearance alone. I imagine female Custodes would look just as hulked out without their armor as the men do.

I understand people are angry, but the Custodians are really the only faction where the change is valid and doesn't majorly break the lore. The Custodian creation process is vastly different to that of the Astartes, and because it's so different and doesn't use geneseed, I'm more surprised that people haven't questioned the possibility sooner. It's always been possible. Doesn't make the implementation any less stupid, but the fact of the matter is that it's not going to change anything.

By them adding this woman into the custodies like this destroys the whole premise of the sisters of silence as well as the sisters of battle. These women earn their place in the history of 40K, a perfect example, the sisters of battle have been told they cannot be corrupted while the space Marines have. When a sister of battle speaks in a room for a space Marines and primarks, everyone goes silent because she speaks with a purpose that can change the tide of worlds. The sisters of silence work so diligently to get the respect and seen as an equal by the custodies to a point that they said it themselves to them. And now you took that all away just to have a woman on there though. What was the point? Give me a primark then that's a woman. Also, you're already destroying the Lord.

Even if the destroyer reached within firing range of terra, the cyclonic torpedo still has to survive overlapping orbital point defence systems, and still be slow enough to bypass planetary void shields without being zapped into the warp. This isn't even the wildest plan that's been tried, so I can feel the disappointment. I mean, one guy decided to drop Genestealers onto Terra, which got far better results.

Custodes is gene crafting and precise manipulation, astartes is literally placing new organs into the body, also its a million times more invasive and dangerous than the custodian process due to also the trials, tell me as a matter of fact a woman can pull off either A spacewolf's trials or the black templars.. To be fair the pretty sure only the Custodeans know about the blood games. And the navy I believe is who has the torpedoes. And the Imperium is nothing if not capable of losing entire planets (as in, where was that planets). So I could believe the Navy could lose a torpedo.

Im not really active with the lore of Wh40k, but can somebody tell me why there are female custodians? Weren't they only male custodians because of the geneseed or something like that?
The process that makes Custodes is different from the one that makes Astartes, the process for the later involves implanting organs made with the genetic data of the Primarcs, and there seems to be an issue that makes it non-compatible with females; Custodes on the other hand have a more "perfect" process that involves enhancing the candidates body and metabolism to "perfection"... but there wasn't an OUTRIGHT claim that "the process is not compatible with women"...

No. Unlike the Custodians, there is no room for females. They've tried before. The Emperor gave it a shot and gave up immediately. The only one who's been successful is Bile, and that's because it's fucking Bile. The Geneseed is incompatible with female anatomy. That's just how it is. There is absolutely nothing stating that the Custodian process doesn't work on females.

On the subject of female custodes, I’d like to point out that Malcador suggested making the primarchs all female, so it would be possible to use the emperors geneseed to create female custodes,
the whole process being tailored to each individual custodes also helps a lot lore-wise.
But there couldn’t be female space marines because the process would twist their bodies to the point where they aren’t recognisably female.
Pretty much. Even if they were to survive the augments, the Geneseed would fuck them up.

There won't be. Unlike the Astartes, the Custodians actually have enough blank space that female Custodians are possible. The reason Female Astartes aren't possible is because Geneseed explodes them. Custodes don't use Geneseed and are altered from infancy. Also, it took ten years of the writers asking to make female Custodes for it to finally happen. They apparently wanted female Custodians to be a thing since day one.

I like the concept but games workshop were so lazy about it like they were afraid of making the people that would have pissed their pants over it anyway mad so they didn’t put any real effort into it. Hopefully we’ll get better expanded lore and books in the future, but for now the lore is shoddy.
As someone on the outside of the 40k fandom, can someone explain the hate to me? I know the Custodes are men, but I don't know why. Is there a reason the geneseed or whatever shouldn't work for women?
Because in the last 30 years there has never been a single mention of a female space marine and boom. Magically existed the whole time. It’s a cash grab with complete disregard to the lore of Warhammer. Its just disrespectful to the fans and they are blocking people who are asking questions on twitter. That alone shows you how weak this decision was.

@@Brandonious15987It’s not into a specific story. People are made that it’s inclusiveness stuff, and a retcon. But these retcons happen all the time in 40k, so they’re mainly just mad that more women got added.
@@tinyHIPPOclips Custodians are not Space Marines. Custodians don't use Geneseed and were made before the Space Marines were and only really have ten years of real lore. Their previous 30 years of lore doesn't exist and what does exist explains that Custodians back during the day were literally just weaker Space Marines. The Custodian creation process is completely different to the Space Marine creation process.
