Goldfrapp are really interesting. They’ve been steeped in electronica but they can go from haunting ballads to straight up pop to dance to glam. Their career is such (like Beck) that you never know what’s going to come next. This is one of their ‘dark electronica’ songs. Their entire debut album sounded like this (not necessarily with the grooves). To get a sense of their variety, try “A&E”, and then “Train”, “Number 1” and “Rocket”.
This is reminding me of about 20 different things. I guess that's just part of music. No matter who you like.... they always have a little bit of other bands in them.
Female vox rocks.. great choice, I love this album above All her other great work.. You gotta try annakie van gersbergen (I have probably murdered the spelling) but check out the gathering Or her work with Devin Townsend.. she is essential ..
If you feel like opera, I have a gorgeous piece for you. La Wally by Wilhelmenia Wiggins Fernandez. You may cry, it's so beautiful. I am not a fan of opera, but oh boy. It's stunning. This piece has stuck with me since 1982? There's a translated piece, but I think the words get in the way of the music, it's so pure. TRUST ME. Saw them in Cornwall 15 years ago, never heard a band sound so close to their studio sound.

Goldfrapp is pretty cool. Her sound is usually more electric than this but it's always really good. I recommend the song "Strict Machine".
