True story. Mid 80s. I'm playing bass in a bar band. Supertramp is in Cleveland for a concert. About midnight people start requesting Supertramp songs, which we don't do. I look over at the bar and see John Helliwell sitting at the bar. I say; hey, I think that guy knows some Supertramp. Ask him up on stage. Turns out the whole band was there. They all come up! Owner locks the doors. We're doing shots and hanging/jamming with the band. We're there till like 5AM. A memory I'll never forget. Thank you, Jamel for the reaction. Stay safe. Peace out.
"I say, now watch what you say, or they'll be calling you a radical, a liberal, oh, fanatical, criminal. Oh won't you sign up your name? We'd like to feel you're acceptable, oh presentable, a vegetable." Some of my favourite lyrics in the history of pop and *still* IMO, as relevant today, as they were, when written.
This song was incredibly comforting to me as a 14 year old misfit. Now that I'm a fifty something year old misfit, it's very comforting to see you enjoying it too. :)
No bullshit, I sincerely enjoy your spirit. I am noticeably more relaxed and focused after spending a couple of songs with you, I thank you for your decency and kindness, Your not going unnoticed...we're listening and fortunate. A better world for all.

“Bloody Well Right”... the band’s breakthrough hit in the U.S. (#35 Billboard Hot 100), a classic rock radio standard to this day, and arguably Supertramp’s hardest rocking song. Love the main riff. Love your videos, brother! Keep ‘em comin’.
"School", "Crime of the Century", "Even In The Quietest Moments", "Fool's Overture", "Child of Vision", "Take the Long Way Home" all very much worth a listen.
Supertramp makes me think of my aunt's husband so much. He was a huge Supertramp fan that unfortunately died of cancer. I was always trying to get him in to Phish but I get his love if this band. RIP Peter.
I love how many songs you've heard but didn't know that you get to rediscover here. I don't know why it's so enjoyable to see other people hear songs you've grown to love, but it is.
Something worth mentioning on this song is that it is a “Pop” song. Very hard to find a pop song with a quality chord progression and arrangement like that today.
Esperanza Spalding, Laura Mvula, Janelle Monate, Hiatus Kaiyote, Anderson .Paak, Sampha, Little Dragon, Robert Glasper, etc. I could go on. All outstanding musicians creating intricate arrangements and they can sound Pop if they want to at times. It's just that your local classic rock station won't play them because they are stuck in the past.
Breakfast in America & Take the Long Way Home... Supertramp must hear songs( you've heard them at work! Edited- put Road in title instead of Way... sorry my bad!

“Take the Long Way Home”- best Super Tramp song. A few months ago TH-cam for some reason started suggesting reaction videos. I mainly like them because they showed black people liking music by white artists. I really thought of that as unifying, like military service without the danger. However, once yours came up, I said “I like this brother,” and your channel is the first and only of its type that I have subscribed to. You have a winsome spirit that really comes through. “Roger Hodson” and Micheal Jackson, both have one thing in common. They both uttered the word VEGETABLE in a song. Getty Lee (Rush), Jon Anderson (Yes) and Roger all have that very high talking voice that truly makes them unique. Breakfast in America album could be listened to front to back. Not a concept album necessarily but every track is just awesome. Good string of hits on this one!
