The first harmonica blues I heard in 1966 (I was 16 years young) and it blew me away! Since then there has been one type of music for me above all others: blues! - Rythm&Blues and blues rock came along shortly afterwards. But I still think that good old classic folk blues is the best.
Theese two put me on that ol' Railroad track with the Blues In my mind 66years ago on a 78rpm record of this which I got at a Church Rummage sale with an old wind up HMV Gramophone. I couldn't even play any of the shellac recordings 'til I repaired the thing and even though I was eight years old that was a doddle because I had already tackled old Radios successfully. Well I played this track and I was hooked. As it turns out, for life. I'd always taken stuff apart, fixed it and put it back together since I was four. That doesn't sound like very long now but it did when I was eight. I was firm in my conviction that when I grew up I was going to be a Radio and TV engineer but now there was something else I wanted to be. I wanted to be a Musician and play the Blues. I got bith wishes although I left Radio and TV behind when Colour came in and all you could do was swap out the Panels and snd them back for repair or replacement to the manufacturer with your notes on the faults you had found. That made me want to sing the Blues, I can tell you. Well I played a little Guitar but mainly I played the drums and sang the words. Got my kit when I was fifteen and kept it until we had a baby on the way. Still played a bit here and there over the years but never found anything that inspired me like Sonny and Brownie had. Well maybe the Mac when they were a proper Blues band. I couldn't sit on that drum stool now, I'd fall off the bloody thing but I still play Blues and mumble on but on a Baritone Ukulele with Fluorocarbon strings 'cause I have arthritic hands and fingers and those Japanese strings are easy on the paws. So....... if you've got that Blues itch, keep on scrathin' it. I tried Harmonica but it wasn't for me but I can still bend a few notes on a rainy afternoon in Gloucestershire. 🤔😉
Cuando vinieron a México, no me llamaron mucho la atención, no tenían el arrastre de Mudy Waters o Willie Dixon, de todos fui a verlos, y el concierto fue el que más me a gustado de esa época.
