@angiepanjie I was born the same year but in Sheffield, England and according to my mother my " rock out" song was " Woolly Bully" by Sam the Sham and The Pharaohs 😂. I used to go so crazy as a 2 and 3 yr old she was forced to buy the record for me. It was my first record, but we always had the Supremes playing in the house and years later when I was 17 I bought a 4 record anthology album and when I played it all my early years ( before 5 yrs old) came flashing back.

My heart is heavy and I feel immense loss, but will be forever grateful for his beautiful songs and the mark that he left in the world of music. Rest on Lamont! They don't make 'em like you anymore!! I was born in the 70's but my father listens a lot to The Supremes, The Drifters, Patty Page, Engelbert Humperdick, Frank Sinatra so I know most of their songs and guess what it is what I prefer to listen...an era whe music is a proper music:)

Diana Ross was known as one of the top 10 most beautiful women of her day. This was in the 60's. Diana and the Supremes broke ground, paved it with their talent. They helped to build bridges, not shatter them. The Supremes will always be an inspiration to me, as a kid, in an alley, listening to a radio, at 11 years old, loving their voices.

This was a great era to grow up in. The cars, the music, the news when it told the truth, leaders who respected each other, safe schools, when kids could be kids, family times, television with 13 channels, but those few channels had more variety and talent than the 200, 300 or whatever is out there today, and of course, The Supremes. Baby, I Loved It!

Almost everyone has heard at least part of "The Nutcracker Suite," so they grew up listening to "real" music too.
There there's the Kingston Trio, and the late, great Eva Cassidy, and The Glen Miller Orchestra playing "Chattanooga Choo Choo" in the film, "Sun Valley Serenade."
      th-cam.com/video/V2aj0zhXlLA/w-d-xo.html
      There's nothing better than that.
And what would the Supremes have been without the groundbreaking of Dorothy Dandridge who appears in the last segment? She was the real deal a whole generation earlier.

There not the most successful female group of all time anymore, they had a great run tho. The top 10 are 1. Spice Girls, 2. The Andrews Sisters, 3. TLC, 4. Destiny's Child, 5. AKB48, 6. The Pussycat Dolls, 7. Bananarama, 8. The Pointer Sisters, 9. The Nolans, 10. The Supremes, and that list is worldwide and based off sales. But in my opinion i would put them at #1 also, just because i like there songs more that the others, well i like TLC too but id put them at #2.

I think it was the scary hair-dos, and hearing yet again that compared to the other two ladies, Diana's voice was annoyingly nasal such that I always wondered how she always had the lead. I suppose her appeal was more about her inflection than the actual tonal quality of her voice.

the Supremes were the most commercially successful of Motown's acts and are, to date, America's most successful vocal group[2] with 12 number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

What has happened to modern music, this incredible Motown classic is getting on for fifty years old, and it still sounds incredible.
Few songs written today will have the same impact in 2065.

Peter Lewis for every classic song theres disco duck, the only reason the oldies seem soo golden is because only the good music stood the test of time, now theres plenty good music but its all underground or at least not on the radio, but that shit wont last like good music does

music is aimed for kids now, so they get some teenager to preform. no kids are going to by music with grown people now singing about real things.

I love this song! I always sing this to my cat when he starts scratching on my door and wants to leave me. Instead of “baby love” I use “baby boy” sometimes it works and he actually comes back!
“Baby boy, my baby boy, I need you oh how I need you
But all you do is treat me bad
Break my heart and leave me sad”

Got my first dog a while back, hated dogs. He came with a toy that would play this song. This dog changed my life, brought something out in me that I didnt know was there. When I listen to this song it takes me back. Music like this is so powerful that it allows us to travel though time.

while i agree to the pure talent, auto tune isnt a “gimmick” just like the talkbox wasn’t a gimmick either. its meant to be used as a tool for making something sound less human, not a crutch to make someone sound better
