Thursday arrivals for The Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford 2024, I've included most arrivals from this day with a great variety. check out some of the practice displays from this day and there will be more to follow over the next four days.

1:22 - Cinderella followed by an Ugly Sister!!! Throw in a Tonka every now and then and I'm happy😂😂 The old A-4 has put on a bit of weight, nearly didn't recognise it!!! Are you doing one with more heavies🤔?? (please!!!!!😂😂😂) Top stuff as always Elwyn👍👍👍👍
My school is near to the air tatoo. At lunch time we saw fighter jets and Boeing sentreys.
Went on Friday and loved it.
German tornado manoeuvre here should be standard from all jets on arrival 🙏😁

There were a couple oddballs where I hadn't a clue.
I hope the show is safe and yet exciting for all in attendance.

Its a technique called aerobraking when they hold that wheelie they get extra drag from the wings so they can slow down quicker
Brilliant stuff! I had travelled over from Carmarthen, three hours on the road, got into Cheltenham at 0900, did my stuff in there and then thought to myself, 'hang on... Fairford is only a short diversion'... so that's what I did! Good decision too as I managed to get some really superb pics. Maybe I should have done Fairford first and then head towards Cheltenham, because looking at your post here, I missed the F35's!!! Still, a great Day though, and did get to see the Red Arrows perform their shortest transit ever from Oxford to Fairford 😛 but what a return back to base!!! I noticed too that there are TWO spares this Season! Is this a new idea, to have two spares??

Were you there Wednesday? I watched a twin, not sure what was, diesel engines, Italian or German? in a holding pattern over Highworth for an age - I wondered if something had gone wrong on the rwy?🤔🤔

The aircraft was in a holding pattern for an hour according to some, tight turns at 500' +/- Prior s heavy had gone in with fighter escort too🤔🤔

Interesting that the KC-46 is replacing the KC-10, but the 767 is a rather old design that's being phased out of service itself now. Why not a 777 tanker? That'd be pretty impressive

6:39 - I was going to say. That F-16 must have come from VERY VERY far away to be carrying a full complement of drop tanks. Romania is around 2200km from the UK. The F-16 shouldnt need that much fuel to complete the trip.
Im curious as to why unless it was leaving one or two of them behind before flying back after the air show.
I think it's more km... come from the MK NATO base (Constanța)...or maybe they have other missions after this show and need more fuel. who knows what is the reason to come with so much fuel or simply to show how much fuel they can carry :)))

huh, KC-10's...still in use. Guess nothing fills up the 3 strategic bombers quite like it.

F-14's WERE the best back in the day. Lmao😂. In the '70's I was attached to VA-34 BLUEBLASTERS A6 Intruders out of N.A.S. Oceana, VA. I actually love all military aircraft.
The F-15 and F-16 are some of the best-looking planes ever. And the F-35 wasn't designed to look pretty.
