  • This is the construction video of a 20m2 = 215 square feet small natural swimming pool that works without technical support and without plants = a SWIMMTEICH!
We do not think you can build it any smaller than that.
    The advantages are:
it fits even into a small garden.
Moreover, the building costs are very low.
And, it is so easy to maintain it!

That was really helpful, interesting and I like the pictures a lot! In my opinion this is the best system to build a organic pool without technology! You really inspire me a lot, and thank you for all of your videos!

@@teichswimmer6746 construction begins in about a month, weather permitting. Just got permits from city this week. Have my liner (epdm) sitting in place to be unrolled, but right now I'm focusing on purchasing bags for rocks (want the type you use in these videos but can't find them in US... any ideas?) edging tape and steaks, gravel, etc. Also looking for excavator company, or I may rent an excavator and do it myself since it's really hard to hire anyone right now. Excited to start, but i still have a lot of details to complete before beginning construction. Wish you guys weren't on the other side of the planet!! 😆

@@cdurch1 Wow, sounds great. - Yeah, we would also prefer to be situated near you right now.....
Concerning the bags: As even in Europe those bags are quite impossible to get we have searched and found a company in Austria that will produce them for us. - In the near future we will make those bags available through our homepage. - The company is ready to deliver them world-wide. - But we haven't got a rate yet. - So in case you do not find anything, maybe we can help......
How come it is difficult to get an excavator?

Well, as far as the bags go, I found some black polypropylene mesh bags online that are 14 inches (36 cm) round and 26 inches (66 cm) long. They are mesh bags that allow the water through, and say that they are UV resistant and will last 5 years in direct sunlight. ( I'm sure they will last much longer underwater, away from direct sunlight.) They are to hold 50 lbs of rock/gravel and are black, but I guess that's fine as they will match our black epdm liner.
The only drawback is they don't have the extra little flap on them for putting the irrigation tubes thru, but they should still work ok.
Regarding excavation, I want a retaining wall to bring the rest of my back yard up to level, and want to use the excavated soil to backfill the wall. Building and backfilling the wall, (which will have overflow pipes coming out of it, too) while at the same time excavating the pool, complicates things. Calculating the soil still needed to be brought in (or extra soil left over to be hauled away) is a challenge. I can rent an excavator for a week and try to do it myself, or pay a LOT for a contractor to do it for me.
Still sourcing that out and hope to make that important decision very soon.

@@cdurch1 The bags sound good. Don't worry about the missing flaps for the tubes. - You can also fix those tubes between the filled bags. As you have another layer of gravel bags on top they sill sit very well between the bags....
I understand your concerns about the excavated soil and the wall and the money. I do not know what's the better choice, but when we did the digging and used the excavated soil for the backfill of our earth wall, we were happy that we had the professional excavator operator because he knew exactly what we wanted and did it in a way that there was no soil left over to get rid of..... And he did all (digging and "building" the embankment) in one day, so it did not cost us that much. - But of course I have no idea about the rates you are talking about....
      Wishing you success in deciding,

I am considering a swimteich in Ireland and this size would be perfect. What is the full size from the border of the gravel. Also, can you share the contact information of the liner installation guys?

@@teichswimmer6746 Hi Ines, thank you so much for getting back to me. I would love to work with a team that has already installed this kind of organic pool. If you know of anyone in Ireland (or even the UK) that would be great. I have purchased your book and that is very helpful but it is always good to have someone who has had hands on experience. I would like more info on installing the steps and also the run-off piping around the edge of the pool.

Great video! I’m really inspired. Does it have to be spring water, or we could use tap water?
I’m in northern Serbia, border with Hungary and Croatia.

      Dear Marita,
no problem, you can use tap water. Even if it slightly contains chlorine. - If it contains chlorine you should pay even more attention to the innoculation to have the right mixture of microorganisms after the chlorine has vanished.
      Best regards to Serbia,

What are the grey walls in the beginning made of? Also you say you don’t think it can be done smaller? Why is that? I am building one 6’x12’and 5ft depth but trying to decide which method to use for interior walls/filtration…also, have you ever done a waterfall with one of yours?

Did you end up finding out what type of linear material you're going to use? Currently trying to source material to Texas. Will be building something that is probably around 10'x15' w/ 5ft in depth.

Waterfalls are not difficult to install, but pls keep in mind that anything that adds oxygen to your water (like a water fall) can encourage the formation of filamentous algae......
the grey walls are just covered with geotextile......

Yes, probably, but you would have to pay more attention to the size of the deep zone and the ring drainage. And you might need to think about a rain cistern for refilling..... Best, Ines
