    Ah yes, thank you youtube, I was looking for a way to build a pool. On my 1st floor apartment in the city. Thanks.
    Great explanation Karsten looks like it took a lot of effort.

    I love natural pools and most of them come in natural settings like they have always been there, with big rocks and falls. However, I am also a fan of clean lines, aesthetics, etc. I love that there IS an option for a natural swimming pool to look sleek and modern too. Thank you!

    I work on a chemical plant and it doesn't take as long as you'd think for pipes to freeze up, especially if they aren't lagged., I would definitely recommend some insulation for around the pipes if you don't have any. Last thing you want is for all your pipes to burst. This is in the UK by the way so similar winters to yourself, with colder temperatures not quite reaching the -20s that you were talking about.

    Probably already mentioned but it maybe worth looking in to a Bubble pump, you'd need to increase the size of you feed pipes to 100mm (4") but it would be far more efficient at around only 70watts so could easily be run 24/7 on a small solar all year round :) great Job by the way as the other design I saw else where used a lot more plastic and a lot more complex for no reason.
    thanks for the effort.

    • @cros13
      @cros13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bubble pump would not be able to maintain the required flow rate for this system. Likely need a larger filtration area to use that.

    Hey, that's a great video !
    Regarding the tall plants that didn't thrive due to (fortunate) low phosphate levels, I could only recommend you to keep puttin a few of them every year, so that you'll know if your phosphate levels rise, because they'll start to do really well and warn you that way :)

    • @DocLindgaard
      @DocLindgaard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks! That is a great idea. The iris plant is quite cheap, so it would not cost much to put a few in each year.

    • @TDREXrx9
      @TDREXrx9 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I was thinking a deficiency to but with it being a new built Iris like some silt it he used mostly gravel there may not be the proper for the roots you could try to add silt to the filter area or just give it time to naturally built up. As for adding Phosphate try adding a bird feeder near by all the poop will really boost those levels.

    Cooles Projekt. Sauber gemacht. Ich würde dir empfehlen das Wasser zirkulieren zu lassen, dann setzt sich weniger Dreck in den Ecken ab. Außerdem kannst du den Teich aufsalzen. Mögen die Algen nicht, überleben aber die Pflanzen. Das machen die Koiteichbesitzer auch. Auch mit Bepflanzung. Wenn es immer noch viel Algen hat, dann zusätzlichen Teichfilter und UVC.

    • @DocLindgaard
      @DocLindgaard  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Torben. Yes we did give it a thought, but with the system we build, we pushed the limit for filtration vs. swimming area ration, so I wanted to be sure that I could turn up the flow if it was needed. But if you build more like a natural pond with af 50% filtration area vs. 50% swimming area I think you might do fine with the airlift system.

    @jpfalk11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great job! I really appreciate the detailed description and wish I had seen your video before I started my own build. I’m using a gravel and planted regeneration zone with airlift pumps which is separate from the swim area. This spills into a traditional style pool with an infinity edge, then flows into four ibc 275 gallon containers with filter media providing more surface area for beneficial bacteria. Then pumped back to then ‘pond’ area. Essentially two filter systems/ one on air pumps and the other mechanical. Fairly simple without uv for now. 95% done and regeneration zone is full of water and plants…hoping it all works with all the amount of time and money spent🤞🏼Here in Santa Barbara, California- born and raised here but visit Denmark often to visit cousins (parents moved here from Copenhagen). Wonderful country and people and will be there this summer 🇩🇰 thanks again!
    One question- I have frogs moving in. Would you remove eggs and tadpoles? Like the idea of a balanced eco system moving in and finding balance but concerned about nutrients…

    • @DocLindgaard
      @DocLindgaard  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jens. Thanks for your comments. Yes, we do get a few frogs and salamanders in the regen area. But I see them as a natural part of an organic pool and do not remove them 🙂
      Best of luck with your project in California.

    From the research I’ve been doing the plants compete with the algae for nutrients, so adding plants into your system should get rid of the algae, the more leaves on the plant the more nutrients it sucks up. Oh, and little fish get rid of mosquitos.
