    I am so sorry that you have ever recieved negative emails or comments. You are such a warm, open book. I never understand those on the internet that feel the need to leave nasty, rude or judgemental comments on content creators that are opening themselves up. Just turn the channel if it's not your cup of tea. Those kind of people unfortunately will always be here. It's their own deal. I know it is easy to say but I hope with time you can realize that unkind comments really does say more about the people that they are leaving them then any person that they directed to. My guess is that they feel superior for a minute. You are very refreshing. Wishing you a great year ahead, full of wonderful memories.

    I have had therapy about my (once) Fear of Flying. Took meds, drank to oblivion, anything to get up in the air and back down again. Then the COVID years came and (as a really large woman), I expected to die. I was prepared to die in every way possible and really thought I was not going to make it to 2022. But, here I am. I have flown 4 times since then and I have been able to relinquish trying to control the plane with angels or my mental telepathy and just understand that, if the plane goes, so do I. Letting go, for me, has made each flight fantastic. I am going to smile until the end... either with illness or on a plane.

    After I die I wanna come back as your dog! 🥰
    Yes, girl! I worked for myself for 15 years and, although I was an excellent employee, I NEVER, EVER worked as hard for someone else as I did for myself. Days, nights, weekends... yes ma'am! I think that's very common. Good for you recognizing that you need time for yourself AND for carving it out AND sticking with it! Good girl!
    Laura, you're THE BEST! I'm so blessed to have found you so many years ago!
    Happy and Healthy New Year to you and the fam. Hugs from the southern California desert, MK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗

    When I discovered I needed to do a lot of flying for my education, I dealt with fear of flying in an unusual way....I sought out every episode of Mayday/Air Crash Investigation I could find on TH-cam and became an expert on aviation accidents. I learned how much safer air travel has become as a result of this history. I'm the only one on the plane who watches the safety briefing, and I always thank the flight attendants and crew for their hard work. I've heard anxiety and anticipation are the same emotions, just framed differently...and yeah, now I enjoy the flying part, and identifying all the different planes at the airport.

    You did the right thing picking apart your fear of flying. If you have an answer for each part of the fear, you realize that the fear has no foundation. Here is mine: Taking off: This was always fun, like the beginning of a roller coaster. I love that moment of weightlessness. I become a soaring bird. Turbulence: Planes do not crash because of this. Might knock your drink over. Landing: The second the wheels touch the tarmac, I get this big sigh of relief and think Wow, this is finally over and I am here! Yeah! Nowadays, it is more about managing dry skin, hydration, boredom, and Number One: Comfort. I turned away from my fears and to the logistics like the weight of my bag. I am now obsessed with treating it like a hike and reducing my weight or finding the perfect gadget or hack to make my pack the smallest it can possibly be. Flying gives me a chance to test my rig out, so it is fun.

      Thank you. It was such a shock because we'd been exchanging really friendly emails up until that point. Then this really awful one came completely out of the blue.
      Yes, I can get sucked in by Instagram too. I now have an automatic time limit set so I get a notification once I've been on it for a total of 90 minutes that day.

    I also read right before going to sleep. I've learned that it helps me shut off the To Do list or worries in my head. I don't keep my phone in my bedroom at all. It's plugged in in the living room at night before I go to bed. This won't work obviously if you use your phone as an alarm clock.

    My husband did a fear of flying course, based in Dublin. He's still afraid, but gets on the plane and we've 1-2 unmedicated flights behind us now. He's got recordings of all the sounds and what thy are, he listens to them in the day or two before the flight - really helps. Best of luck with it.

    Glad you have found what has helped with the flying. I have only been on a plane a handful of times and it was two decades ago the last time. I am sure I will be nervous/ excited. I think it is very cool to see the clouds and how pretty everything is up there. It reminds me of what heaven could look like. I remember we went through a storm and came up over top of the clouds and you could see the sun and it was so beautiful. It was crazy to me how just above all that chaos was this beautiful thing and sunshine. Taking in the views is something I loved about flying. The pressure changes not so much. I also liked thinking of all the people/ kids down below in the city/ town that were looking up and saying plane and I waved to them. 😊 Because I wave at people in planes sometimes and it would be fun if we were waving at each other. I also have thrown up prayers or well wishes for planes over head. You never know who could use the encouragement or good will. 😊

      I actually find it helpful to imagine people on the ground looking up at the plane, because I know from down there it looks like perfectly smooth. And yes, it's wonderful if you can get above the clouds and see pure blue. I've seen a few sunsets and sunrises from planes too. Also magical.

    Speaking of the planes - I’ve never had a fear of flying and have always loved flying and taking off and watching planes . I flew more as a Child then as an adult. Lately, my dad started watching a show called Mayday and it’s about plane crashes over the years and how experts determined how the accidents happened. I watched a couple episodes and after that I developed a fear to fly and canceled a trip I was going to take early in 2023. It gave me the “Willies” to fly or go on a plane for fear it will crash.
    I should take those courses too! To ease my new fear! Hope we both get over our fears so that we can enjoy the experience and miracle of flying again!🤞

    • @valeriekravette787
      @valeriekravette787 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There's always a good reason for a plane crash, and a lesson to be learned. Keep watching! I've seen every episode, most of them several times, and after you get used to the adrenaline rush, it gets pretty fascinating. It's STILL the safest way to travel.

    I can even sense your anxiety when you talk about it. I am so sorry for you and hope some day it gets much easier. My dad took us kids to a small local airport frequently in the summer months. We would just park the car and watch the little planes for what seemed like hours. We couldn't wait for the day when he would let us go on our first (of many) plane rides. It was beautiful. I'm much older of course, but still love flying and wish I could do it more often - but during take off I always say a heartfelt prayer to God to watch over us. I'm not afraid of dying so even if it's my final prayer, I'm ok.

      I seem to be making some improvements so fingers crossed. I had a few bad flights that really didn't help. I think if I had a few good flights in a row it would ease an immense amount of anxiety for me.

      @@HowToGYST Laura I really resonate with your fear of flying (which I have largely overcome now). The Dr Bach Remedy "Rock Rose" is very helpful for panic attacks. The regrettable thing is, that my bottle of Rock Rose was confiscated at the airport as it was over the specified 100 ml or whatever. How silly is that!!! I think you are doing a great job tackling this particular phobia. Good luck with overcoming it.

  • @goodenoughgirl8102
    @goodenoughgirl8102 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Hmm. 90 min chunks. I’m personally noticing that I grab things and run with them 100mph…and I don’t want to stop…and all the other things get totally ignored…like obsessive tendencies. I’m looking to work on more pacing myself. Self control. Temperance. Etc. If I like doing a thing tho, it’s so easy to not even eat, or to keep running until I collapse or to keep going until I tip over and just can’t anymore. Lol. And I can equally stay in “lay on my arse” mode in the same way as well (once I’m there lol)…again esp when I love a thing (such as a book or a show etc). I guess part of all of the minimalism stuff has been good tho. Learning to do daily routines. But once I hit some binge mode with some things, it’s a lot harder to stay on track. I guess the goal is learning to be able to better change gears back and forth better or not see all things as a fast sprint to the finish line etc. Or to just stop with the clock…even when I don’t want to. Lol.
    Ugh. I’m sorry they did that to you. The “nasty speaks” used to be a multiple daily occurrence with my toxic fam. It’s like being shredded really. For real things like that can ruin a whole day or week. I’ve had to learn a whole lot about detaching and depersonalizing. But yah. It’s what a narcissist does tho. Lure you in just so they can attack you later. Or ruin your day or your special event etc. I couldn’t win, as I have “parents” like this. I have to be VERY careful when I let them around me etc. It can’t be when I need to focus or when I lm tired or sick or weak or emotionally raw etc. For sure these folks can “smell” such things and it’s best to avoid them in every way until it can’t be avoided and when you’re more “up” and on your game. Or when it is possible, cut them right off entirely and never look back. But as it goes, I had to realize that some folks are just that way (awful and mean and full of envy or hate etc) and it really has nothing to do with me or my worth or how I am or if I’m right or wrong etc. I guess the hardest part is recognizing who they are, like when you think someone is great or “normal” and then they wind up being “one of those.” And I might go so far as to say I’d bet money on it being some kind of mean girl envy on their part. Bcuz who does that? Not people who care about you and who rejoice with you and your triumphs and who weep with you in your sorrows and who support you in your struggles. These kinds of folks are NOT our “friends.” They are our enemies. Or in cases like some “frenemies.” They are very sneaky and hide their true motives.
    I may use my phone before bed for something like a solo game etc. But generally yah. I do only solo things that don’t involve other humans right before bed. 😬 I also do it when I sense that I need to unplug from peopleing for awhile. I also don’t like to “people” first thing in the morning either. Lol.

    Phobias are generally irrational, although flying seems quite rational. My daughter was cabin crew for an airline and she always had a fear of heights 🙄, don't ask me how she did it but she loved it. As for nasty comments etc, those peoples opinions do not belong in your head! Your videos are always so lovely to see and you hwfe such a natural, soft manner ( although I sense a fiesty minx when necessary 😂). Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I am afraid of flying, too. I hate the speed of the take off and I hate cruising, especially during turbulence. I can feel every movement of the plane. Landing is a gift. I know that the descent is gentle, so I’m okay by then. I have avoided CBD, but you’ve given me something to think about. Merry Christmas!

    • @HowToGYST

      Oh yes, turbulence can be stressful. I sometimes find it helps to wriggle around in my seat a little, like I'm adjusting my position, or even reaching down and pretending to look for something in my bag. Moving my body means I don't feel the movement of the plane quite so much. I also picture myself standing on the ground and looking up at the plane. From the ground it always looks like planes are gliding really smoothly.

    My most helpful habits in 2023: starting my schedule process every week with a brain dump then sorting that into an Eisenhower matrix, letting myself go to bed early rather than napping in the afternoon, and tracking how much I’m making per hour each of my shifts as a server (depending on business level/tips it can vary from $10 to $20+ per hour).

    It helps to know other people are also afraid of flying. I used to fly a lot for work and was able to pretend I was okay. I learned I was pretending very well, when on a flight, the woman across the aisle asked me for reassurance and went so far as to grab my hand as we landed. It was an unusual experience for me.

      I tried to do it for my daughter's sake because I didn't want her to see that I was scared but it actually ended up making me worse, I think. 😂 I need to be 100% focused or I can quickly spiral. I once had a poor man sitting next to me ask if I was OK. I was white-knuckling it as we took off over the Rocky Mountains. (I was 100% convinced we were about to drop out of the sky.) He was just casually sitting there nursing a whiskey while I was hyperventilating. 😂

      @@HowToGYST that definitely helps. Try to work ahead a couple of weeks, if you know your schedule. I still use an anchor point (pressing my thumb and first finger together, something set during hypnosis years ago) to calm down in tense situations. You can do it yourself, too (with audios) although there's something nice about seeing a pro. They can tailor the script to you, and it's wonderful.
