  • The car in this video is 2000 Lexus GS300. The oil control valve was good. The MIL was on because the filter was completely blocked by Sludge Buildup. The code never comes back after replace with the cleaned filter.

    I just redid my 2zz lift OCV today and I got my lift back with no clicking or RPM cutoff early on.
    My filter screen was SUPER clean and spotless. The OCV itself is super clean but it malfunctioned because the unit won't engage at lift.
    Installed a brand new aftermarket one and the car is back to its old self again.

    was thinking this was reason for a sporadic miss now I believe it is an injector leaking at idle and not under load causing a misss

      Yes, those codes mean timing belt is off and not the solenoids

  • @glennoc8585

    Clean the filters first then reset the code/s.

    Hi @expandableme , where do I locate my valve in 2006 IS250? Much help needed.

      This link may give you the answer. Looks like there are two valves. One is on intake and the other is on the exhaust side.

    • @ExpandableMe
      @ExpandableMe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. Very likely due to problems with the timing belt replacement.

    what was your symptom of error for those of us that don't have check engine lights and like to work on cars like its the 70s

    • @ExpandableMe
      @ExpandableMe  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't know the symptom was there if the check engine light wasn't on. Sensitive drivers might notice a small power loss in high rpm and fuel economy.

      FYI is is no longer the 1970s, you couldn't ask people online for help then either.

    Perfect way to bench test this..Clips are firmly attached to the solenoid and tapping the Battery with the loose lead.. The GS motor is uniquely different than the ES.. His OIL is filthy...Just saying

    What did you use to clean it?

    • @ExpandableMe
      @ExpandableMe  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clean with brakes cleaner along with a tiny glasses flat head screw driver to remove oil sludge. I would head to dealer for a new filter if it wasn't on the weekend.

      I would Check for cracks/broken wires. If good, replace the oil control valve or require some advance computer diagnostic. Assuming you have no other codes?
