Goodbye Gia - a farewell video celebrating her end of life.

- This is a difficult episode to film and to edit, but I find this to be an important one as not many people will share the experience so openly about their pets end of life. All pet owners must face goodbyes with their pets invariably, and this is my experience. I chose to euthanize Gia (a humane way to end one's life and suffering), a decision most of you will respect, but some of you might be against. I respectfully ask for you to not view this content if this offends you or if you disagree with it.

Oh, Sean. I am so very sorry. It’s the last gift of love you can give her. Truly. It’s not fair for her to suffer. I’m glad you’ve honored her, loved her and respected her enough to end her suffering in a loving way. My prayers and heart are with you ❤️

Oh Sean, I’m so sorry. Sweet Gia, wow, what a beautiful girl she is. As an animal lover, this is something we all face at one time. Losing our loved ones is so hard❣️💔. Sean this video is so timely. My beloved 14 year old cat Cookie has terminal cancer and we have reached the stage where we don’t want her to suffer anymore pain. I am heartbroken but she has brought so much joy to our family for the past 10 years. Sending you lots of love 💜

Thank you so much for sharing such a difficult topic. I truly needed to see this video and I will be coming back for ideas and strength when it's my cats time to go. How commemorable of you, truly. So thankful there are good souls like you who will care for a once young healthy independent animal when they are old weak and needy. Honest and selfless love. ❤

Yes the names are just love and pet names. I had a kitty many years ago and he got cancer at 10 yrs old. We got his leg amputated and then just a few months later …it had returned everywhere. We gave him lots of love food and a plush long cured blanket to lay on when we got him euthanized. He was my baby. I can tell how much you love Gia. ❤️

Sean, I had a similar experience with your other girl (Gia’s late sister). I took the risk of putting my 12 years old golden retriever into surgery to remove his tumor. He passed during recovery at the vet. I wish I was there to hold him and had proper goodbye. If I could turn back time, I would have done it differently.
Oh nooo big hugs. But your dog would have forgiven you and been grateful to you for trying to save its life. They are such gracious beings.
I just watched this, I am very sad and tearful from beginning to end, you are so brave,I don't think I can do the same, Gia is such a sweet baby girl. I know she's forever alive in your hearts. Everytime I watch you videos and Gia is present I always have to see her. Take care.

We said good bye to our dog last month. It’s not easy, it’s so final and as we appreciate the love they gave us we also realize how much they were apart of our lives. I too find myself looking where he once laid and where he would stand and look into the house looking for us. It’s only natural that we miss anyone who was such big part of our family. Very important video for those who may be facing the same situation. Thank you for the video. I like your brothers sense of humor.

My 16 year old Siberian was euthanized a month ago due to old age and major health issues...i totally understand what you went through...it took us close to 6 months to decide and finally released her from her pain. Thanks for sharing Sean.

I had to let go of one of my cats in 2020. It was a hard decision to make but she was suffering. I still miss her. Sorry for your loss but you gave her a good home and lots of love. Celebrating a life is a positive way to look at it.

I am so sad that her life has to come to an end but you definitely are doing the right thing. I understand it completely. She is not living a life if she is suffering. You have given her a wonderful life. A life that a lot of dogs unfortunately don’t get to experience.
We have had to put down a dog and I have three dogs currently. One of them is my “fur brother” and he’s the last thing tied to my father who passed away 5 yrs ago. I don’t know if I’ll own dogs again because this part is so hard to handle. Even with all the years of love and happiness. The death is just too much to take.

I lost my Gia 5 months ago, and I lost my 12-year-old mix breed Midas last month. It is up to us to let them go and not be selfish and make them stay here longer for us because they do not show pain as we do. My two losses were not the only ones I experienced. I rescue dogs and they live with me till their final days. So I have had to make this decision for every one of them. We really need to decide for them. You chose to do the right thing. know in your heart that she went with dignity and know that you gave her a forever home and meant the world to her.
Thank you for sharing this. I saw a few daschund goodbye videos by other people after this and noticed the same pattern…. That they always put on a brave smile despite the pain they are in. This makes is so difficult to make these decisions.

Very sad story, thanks for sharing your dog's footage before her passing. You seem to be holding up and come to terms with it well. Reminds me of my dog suffering from pyometra, she was 8yo and surgery was risky and I cried buckets throughout the whole month watching her deteriorating day by day. She refused to eat, lying on her bed all day in excruciating pain. Admitted her at the vets and as much as I tried to avoid the inevitable to put her down, that's the reality of it. Her lips and tongue turned purple the day before her scheduled euthanasia. I wasn't sure I was strong enough to stay and watch but I'm glad I did to be there for her to bid our final goodbyes. Tears was just streaming down nonstop as the vet administered a pink injection. Just as you described within seconds the life in her eyes left the body and the entire body became limp and slumped on the floor. I'm tearing up as I type this. I understand what you are going through and share your grief 🥺😓

Totally feeling you. My cocker spaniel left me the same way. It takes time to get used for sure. Gia has joined Amber in pet heaven.
