    This is a great video for key start - not button start! When you want to shift the transfer case out of N you need to (1) start engine and shift to D, (2) stop engine then press brake and press and hold start button for 10 seconds to set in run position with engine off - very important, (3) shift tranny to Neutral then turn selector to 2 high. In answer to the person who did not know how to keep the steering from locking - Once you set the transfer case to neutral, shift to drive, shut engine off, set to accessory by hitting button without your foot on the brake so the engine doesn't start then disconnect battery and shift to park. The steering lock is electric so it won't set. Needs to be towed with battery disconnected because of the electric steering and steering lock

    On My 2018 Yukon Denali with RKE (push button IGN/ Start). if you put it in Park the Steering Column is LOCKED. Manual warns of damage if you Flat Tow with Steering Column LOCKED. I leave it the Transmission (lever) in NEUTRAL. After I verify the Transfer Case is in Neutral by checking for vehicle movement in Reverse and Drive. No movement then the Transmission Lever goes back to Neutral, shut engine off, ignore the “Put in Park” warning then OPEN the Battery Disconnect.

    I have a 2008 chevy Silverado. I noticed the truck seems to be in four wheel or at times it is slipping into it. High rpms and torque. So I tried this and the neutral light won't come on. Any suggestions?

    Can I tow it in Park??????? I have been following your steps for 6 months now, but have left the key in and 4x4 neutral and transmission in neutral to flat toe my 2014 suburban. I have add a connection from my 7 pin to my battery in my tow to keep the battery charged. It would be great to tow in with the key out, but I would have to put it in park.
    I asked lots of people at RV parks, family, and some dealerships. No one knows. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

    Why and when to use this ?

    • @don4802
      @don4802 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would use it when towing behind a RV Motorhome. It's called "Flat Towing". Prevents damage to the transfercase while the truck is moving when not running.

      @@Pam_Doddridge finally !!! Got it figured out ... the TH-cam poster flips it quite slowly to the right , I took my Yukon Denali to dealer and service manager said 90 percent of people flip know too slowly . He put car in neutral and then flipped the knob about 50 percent faster than in this video . My 2015 Yukon Denali now goes to dead neutral 100 percent of the time . I spent literally hours trying to get it to dead neutral , turns out I was flipping the knob from 2 to 4 high to four low to neutral too slowly and it wouldn’t disengage. Hope this helps ..

      Detox665 I mean they only make the truck with the electric or manual, if there’s a manual it says N on it you just push it
