Around the world, old video games are becoming more and more expensive and I believe this is normal, especially because they no longer manufacture them and as time goes by the tendency is to increase more and more.
That is certainly true and a part of increasing prices. Other important factors to be aware of are the rising costs to operate a business, inflation, etc. My method is to buy, sell and trade. Another way to save money is to buy junk and repair it! I’ve saved some major cash this way. Regardless, the game hunt will continue! More videos are on the way, cheers!
Just getback from japan 2 weeks ago. Can confirm that the price getting more and more expensive. I hunt for 2ds or new 3ds regular. And I got my limited 2ds in Surugaya Osaka. But, I've only seen 1 new 3ds regular throughout my 10 daya journey in Japan
I must agree, prices have seen an increase. There are still some deals, but it certainly requires a time investment. The new 3DS is a hot item! I hope you scored loads of games and hardware during your trip. Cheers!
@@RetroReWire i didnt buy new 3ds though, but I buy my old 2ds green collection fullset with pristine box thanks to you recommend surugaya as one of the location to look up to
Oh wow. So much hardware in this Off House. I have to say that I visit a store at least once a day too haha! Oh and Alan Wake was one of the few games I played on 360! Stoked to play the second one too.
Great video as always. I am surprised with the amount of old hardware they had at this hard off. Then again Suzuka only has one hard off on a population of 200.000, having a bit more supply should be normal. I notice however that prices at the "off" houses are all over the place. You can have a discolored gamecube with nothing added for a huge amount and boxed almost mint and complete edition for half that price. You really need to know your prices and be lucky to run into the right one at the right price. Something else to consider is that the YEN dropped 18% since January 2023 in comparisson to the euro, should be similar to the dollar I reckon. That Dragon Slayer was MSX 2 :)
OFF House can be a real wild card as you say. I was able to find a boxed PS2 slim 90000 series priced well below those in this video. More to come, cheers!
@@RetroReWireI got a sealed japanese gamecube a few years back for 14 dollars Im sure that sealed conntroller is alot now the best i got recently was a boxed gameboy pocket for 70 I have a sealed mega drive to
Most Hard OFF stores will have a testing station equipped with power outlets, cords, batteries, and sometimes a multi-meter. Testing is usually limited to the goods found in the JUNK section. The stuff in the regular aisles marked with red tags are guaranteed to work and often include a warranty (that's only valid in Japan). They will open up boxes so you can see the cosmetic condition, however. Cheers!
Hey JJ is the lower price listed on those stickers without tax (is is called consumption tax or something?) How does that work? Another killer vid man! Keep em coming! 👊
Hard OFF is pretty good with listing both the regular price and the price that includes tax, which is usually larger and in bold. RED tags, like the one in the thumbnail, typically include a warranty. Green tags are used for JUNK and items sold without warranties. Warranties are only valid in Japan. Price tags for junk goods in the bins typically include the 10% tax. More is on the way! Cheers!
The us version of JoJo's bizarre adventure goes for $700 USDA how much was the japanese version i didn't really see the price because you put it back to fast!🤑

I'm from Brazil and any game like this here can cost up to 10x more, so for us Japan is still a paradise for gamers@@RetroReWire
Great video! It’s so much fun to watch your store tours. Lots of cool game stuff in this one!
This shops strong point was the retro hardware. And more content is on the way, cheers!
These niche Japanese games like Star Striders really needs to be preserved for future generations

Haha, yeah one store a day! I'm looking forward to Alan Wake 2. I hear it's better than the first, which is very very good.

I’m disappointed that you didn’t find the PC version of the ORIGINAL Persona from Atlus
I bet the game has some gnarly cover art. I’ll keep a lookout. Cheers!
That red psp was super clean
Yeah, that carnival red -- and the blue variant -- are really really want, haha! All in due time, patience is the key. Cheers!
Did you say you can test the hardware at this store? Even if it’s in plastic like the 7700 Saturn? Is that normal for Hardoff that you can test?

I don't ever see systems in the box anymore. I think if my local shop gets them in collector's snatch them up.
CIB is definitely sought after by the hardcore. Are you located in Japan?
@Retrorewire are you still planning to put out a pc engine hardware buying guide?
Yup, it’s in the works but still a ways off. It’ll happen though! Cheers!
Oh boy another hard off. I have a lot of explaining to do to my wife.
Great stuff as always.
Haha, I'm in the same boat. More videos on the way, cheers!

@@RetroReWireI saw a game cube you showed for $8000 yen how much is that in USDA money 💲??🎮🕹️🎮
cool stuff...prices were decent...some of the games were quite sunfaded though....
Some of the Saturn and PC Engine games were affected, which is a bummer. More on the way, cheers!
Wow that fujitsu fm7 computer! Good price..
I'm not too familiar with that old computer hardware, but they sure do look cool. Cheers!

For the PS1? It came in at ¥1650, less than $12. It's a decent fighter, but at $700 -- that would be a hard sale. Haha, cheers!
I'm planning to go to japan in Summer 2025!
Sweet, are you sticking to the major cities or venturing to other less crowded areas?
Decent prices on the hardware. The handhelds not so much
Haha those GBA SPs! They’re definitely pricey.
Lets find PS5 in junk section for $200!
It’s gonna happen sooner or later, haha. Just yesterday I saw a PS5 slim at a Hard OFF. Cheers!
I am so jealous of you, this store is my dream
Haha, that’s exactly what plays in-store: “hard off - your dream store!”
Probably not worth the price unless the condition is pretty much new
That model 2 Saturn comes to mind. It was pretty clean. Shame it was missing the box. Cheers!
You should also mention the difference between the yen and break it down to us currency since the majority of your viewers are from America ..
