that depends on which Philippine region you refer to. There are so many languages used in the Philippines. Those in Luzon use different terms from those in Visayas and those in mindanao. And even in those three divisions, there are differences in different provinces.
Tagalog, one of the languages in Luzon and probably the biggest foundation of Filipino (the national language), is more influenced by Spanish, Mandarin, and English.

majority of the filipino languages have spanish roots although recently english is taking over.
    tagalog/filipino - 15% spanish
    Visayan - 20+ % spanish
    Chavacano creole - 70-80% spanish
although as a spanish speaker and a tagalog speaker myself
i would say filipinos would understand more to a spanish speaker (depends on the dialect of spanish personally carribean and chilean spanish are harder because of the accent and slangs) than a spanish speaker hearing tagalog

I have an easier time understanding mexican spanish, than spanish from spain itself.. I'm from zamboanga city btw.

@@deancafe4739 its because castillian spanish has a distinct accent (lisp). they pronounce the s or z like "th" example. corazon (heart) its pronounced "corathon" . formal mexican spanish is pretty easy to understand cuz they dont skip a letter and pronounce everything as it is

Filipino has a bit of Spanish origins into them. Cause back in the day the Spanish conquered most of the Philippines and most of the Spanish married Filipino women so we are kinda 1/4 Spanish. I like how we are getting closer together as a community

Fabio Restrepo A lot of Mexicans now are half native and half Spanish but look all native or all spanish, how someone looks really doesn't determine their origins all the time

this reminds me of a day at school,
me and some of my friends would speak our native languages all day and I would speak Russian, one of my friends spoke Italian, another spoke Albanian (which i understood bits of, and he understood me a bit) another spoke Persian. We could barely understand but it was fun as we had a drama lesson and we had to cooperate without understanding each other!
