    Thanks, smaerd66! I've been hesitant for YEARS to tackle this repair, and yesterday I found your video, went to the store and got parts (including the model 17), and did the fix! Now I know, and soon I'll replace the hose bib in the front of the house. YAY! Thanks!

    Woodford recommends the spigot should have a slight downward pitch to aid in drainage.

    My old Watford spitgot doesn't have the anti siphon and it's soldered directly to the main outlet copper. I think they did it because the pipe is directly above my electrical panel. I don't even know why they would design something like this.
    I thought about cutting, switching it to work with PEX tubing and get the spigot that comes with connect fit. I'm not sure if that will hold in extreme cold weather on Chicago. I am not sure if the connect fit will work better than shark bite clamping ring though. Last thing I want is for the water to leak out on to the electrical panel

    Good job with the repair! I'm no plumber but should you have used CPVC cement instead of PVC cement?

      Yeah yes I would definitely be scared to death to put PVC glue on CPVC pipe

    The one that you put on is the one we had bust 1st winter

      Wow....mine is still doing good. Is yours sloped down a bit outside for drainage?

    What state is this ? I’m curious because the differences in construction codes state to state always amazes me. We could never do anything this way.

      You can't change a simple hose bib?

      @@DiyRick66 obviously I’m talking about how it’s done lol. We can’t use pvc on anything that connects to a bib. I’ve worked all over the country it’s always interesting to see the differences. Which is I was just curious what state.

      @@SticksAandstonesBozo CPVC was the cheapest & favorite way to do simple plumbing instead of more pricey copper. Now these days they went to pex tubing with crimp fittings that is even cheaper yet. Delaware

      @@DiyRick66 yeah we can’t use pex either. In Florida you can do all that.

    Why would you cut it??? Does it not have threads?

    • @DiyRick66
      @DiyRick66  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I had to shorten it up because I didn't have enough room on the other side of the wall to stick out. 🤔

    What a minute! You put a six foot piece of pvc to the adapter, then stuck it through the hole in the wall . Then in the basement, you show the silcock with a short piece of pvc and the adapter.

      @DiyRick66  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just glued it to a random piece then cut to length. 👍
