Yes we watched a documentary on whales in the desert, they looked like giant serpents. Fun facts 😂as always Martin. @@myrustygarden I genuinely don’t think the landowner knows what a state the site is in. At some point our wonderful autumn weather is going to break, but right now it is wonderful. We are getting a steady stream of viewers, but so far no offers! 🤞Had a viewing today and have another one tomorrow. What I could do with that poly tunnel! All the best Ali.
Thanks Helen. Isn’t this dry spell great! I think it is about due to end, but I have really enjoyed working in dry conditions. And of course you’re right, the irrigation ditches are bone dry!👍🤞
People on your site need to be kicked off the plots if they don't grow veg etc. In my street and as far as I can tell only 2 of us grow food, I only eat what I grow I don't buy any veg, I think that less and less people grow food because they can go up Tesco and get veg that looks perfect and is easy to buy, in the summer I gave my friend a Cucumber as he likes them, He said it taste's strange, I said this is an Organic cucumber that has just been picked and that strange taste is the taste of freshness, I cant get some people. @@grahamrdyer6322 It is a sad state of affairs. Of the 25 plots on our site, I am the only person genuinely growing food on a scale to support a family. I grow and harvest the vast majority of the food we eat. Many days our plates are filled exclusively from the plot. John grows a fair amount, but the vast majority of his produce goes to the shop, as he and his wife don’t eat many vegetables. Of the remainder, maybe a couple of others grow a few crops, but most as you have seen are overgrown waste ground. The land owner has no interest in the site, and as strangely most if not all plots are paid for each year, he is happy. Next year will be a crunch time, as I know several tenants are not renewing. As you know Graham, growing your own food is hard work. It requires resilience, determination, commitment, hard work and not a little knowledge. These sadly are all qualities in decline. I had to laugh at your friend’s comment about the taste. We are so disconnected from nature. So keep growing Graham, we are a rare breed! 👍
