Fireworks are great to watch and even better to photograph:). Capturing the burst of lights and unique/interesting patterns is awesome! Regardless of your camera, I take you through the steps to make it happen. I used a Nikon D3400 for this video, but my technique/settings apply to any camera.

Which one would I choose? The generic - should work fine in my opinion and is a fraction of the Nikon's cost

Amazon Basic Tripod (currently runs about $17; similar to my Velbon in the video - low cost but served me well over the years:)):

Zomei Z666 (in video; currently runs about $90):

Dolica (NOT in video but offers Aluminum build and ball head but does not convert to monopod - a slight cheaper alternative; uses lever locks; runs about $50):

After watching this video I shot some Fireworks last night 7/4/18 they came out great. I used my 10yr old Nikon D60. Proof is in the pictures that you don’t need expensive gear to get great photos. Thank you so much you sir are a natural teacher and I had so much fun with my new knowledge.

Since there is a solar eclipse coming up on August 21st, could you do a video about that as well? I'd be very interested to give taking pictures of that a shot as well!

I’m so excited, I am waiting on my first DSLR Nikon D5600 and I had so many questions before the camera even gets here. You are answering everyone of them. I even started a file on your info so that I can find it quickly. Thank you
