  • OK,
    Radio Ditty
    or
    Radio Oddity,
that's the question to answer in the comments file......
This is just a very first impressions video, more videos to follow.
This radio really kicks some goals and our next video goes much deeper into its capabilities and what it possibly shouldn't do but definitely does. I can't believe the price for what's being sold, its definitely feature packed for the low price it retails for. More on this radio very soon, and thank you to all who sent messages while I was back in hospital, so very much appreciated. Samantha also sends her thanks to those who stepped up in my absence to assist, you know who you are but your help will be long remembered, thank you so much.
    cheers Brenton vk3cm

Hi Brenton these are great radios. They are made by: Qixiang Electron Science & Technology Co., Ltd. Anytone is Qixiang house brand. I have the Anytone 5555 and I love it. No mater what label you buy under you are getting a well built radio. 73 Joe

I know the Anytone range well. Solid Chinese made radios.

Mic gain needs to be set in the menu to 27 to 36 and you'll get the full power output.

Thanks for the review! I've heard most people pronounce it Ray-dee-oddity.
The QT-60 is rated at 60 watts PEP on AM, explaining the Motorola Service Monitors low reading in RMS watts. Many CB'ers here in the States use those "Feel Good" wattmeter's that show artificially higher peak watts. Being a Ham I like my more accurate Daiwa CN-801HP Average/PEP reading meter.
I have a QT-60 ordered to play with on 12 and 10 meters mobile. I started out in CB in the late '60's and was a Technician when the FCC opened up a Tech SSB Phone section on 10 meters, and still love operating there. So this rig should be fun to play with on trips or to try out some POTA.

The one and only way to really see and understand AM modulation is with an analog scope on the RF. Then you can see the envelop and carrier very clearly and understand what’s going on. Regular analog meters are so slow, and even a good service monitor can hide some of the details you’ll want to see as you make adjustments.
Good AM is rare these days.
Keep it up and let us know what you find.

Check the microphone is set to dynamic/electric in the menu. Maybe that will change the output on your meter.

On AM the power is carrier plus both sidebands, if the PA is limited to 50 W, the carrier only will be 25 W. There are several factors limiting the output power: PA device heat dissipation, voltage & current limit, there are limits on other components.

I am in the USA and have that one. one great receiver. will do 12 meters just fine when MOD. made some 12 meter SSB contacts on a end fed half wave tuned for 12 meters . UNUN on ground and wire straight up DX commander pole. with counterpoise on ground. pulled my link off end and have 10 meters . was fun to use POTA with that QT 60. Josh from HRCC did it a few months back same radio. on you tube. this is sold under CRC name and anytone . is the same PC board inside. I got from NY,USA to UK England on 10 meters with it. just radio on LiFePo4 battery and my end fed half wave . 73's

Mate its a Anytone AT5555NII With a different label.. CRT call it a 7900 V Turbo with vapour trails.. Lol..I actually received mine from China today .. Very impressed with the RX and RX NR Function.. 237 USD Including shipping..Same board as the Stryker 955HP. But more refined on function and looks.. I never use AM mode . But for all the super bowl monkeys in the US of A. Dial back the AM dead key swing to 8 watts to avoid splatter and spurious immersions.. SSB is perfect.

Seems to be the same radio. You can cut a wire inside and move a jumper very easily ( no soldering). This makes it a 10-11 and 12 metre band radio. Voids your guarantee though.

You obviously dont know how pep power relates to AM carrier. The 15 watt carrier power is normal. In am the pep power equals 4 times the carrier power at 100 percent modulation, 15 watts carrier equals 60 watts peak envelope power under 100 percent AM modulation.
