Garmin Pay should work in The Netherlands, which i am pretty stoked about, especially since there is no sign of banks yet that will support Google Pay (Suunto 7).
Thank you for your work! Great video! Very usefull! I just need to mention that your main camera is constantly pumping focus. I suggest considering you're stationary to switch to manual focus, it will look much better!
@@P8qzxnxfP85xZ2H3wDRV It also has much less on board. And it only gets its results because the screen isn't on all the time. I don't think the Fenix will last a long hike with maps and music enabled like it does now with that Venu screen installed. The battery life would be unacceptable.
@@StuntpilootStef Hmm, not sure. It's an amoled screen. My Samsung Galaxy also has an amoled screen and it shows a clock at low brightness all the time instead of turning the screen off completely. It doesn't really affect battery life and was enabled by default.

Is it possible to configure it to have an always on display, only during an activity? Without going in and changing the settings before you workout. It would be nice if there was 3 settings... always on, always on during activity, and raise to wake
Can you please show me how to hammer triples into the clock that they have given knowing when running intervals and forgluts. I think it’s supposed to beep or vibrate .
I just got mine yesterday. You can go into your notifications and choose what apps you want to have notifications. Text should work after that. It did on mine. Hope that helps.
I'd have to say Ray, its a great review, detailed and well attention to all of the functions and features of Venu - which had me thinking a couple of times whether to get it or not (after having my old Fenix 3 Titanium and the Sunnto 9 Baro with me, and wanting to get something in the mid range to replace my old vivosmart)
I do a HIIT workout on a treadmill. It consists of a warmup, the workout, and the cool down. The workout has 8 segments of 2 minutes each with 30 seconds running at 7.6 mph with 90 seconds of walking at 2.5 mph. Is there a fitness tracking watch that can contend with that? I'd like to add jumping rope to this routine with 8 segments of 30 seconds of speed jump roping and 90 seconds of rest. Can any fitness tracking watch deal with that?

When I walk on the treadmill, the venu is way under the distance given by my treadmill. Is there a way to calibrate the venu. I read that if you walk a mile, you can calibrate it, but I didn't see a way to do that after my walk.
I just bought the Venu 2 watch and I'm having issues with the volume control for the music. The music is blasting out of my wireless Bluetooth earbuds. When I try to turn the volume down, nothing happens. Any suggestions?
Hi, I downloaded a sleep score app to my Venu, but cannot find how to install the data field to make it work on the watch. Sleep doesn’t come up in the activity menu, so there is no obvious way to set it up. Have you made any videos which include that process? Tia
Do you know why my Venu doesn't display my incoming phone calls? Phone and watch are connected, I receive notification for missed call as text msg, and I receive all sorts of notifications. Any ideas as im going crazy here!
Garmin Venu just doesn't show degree celcius ? Why do i need to see degrees Farhenheit n UK ? GPS shows a near by neighbourhood and not the main town .
I don't know if either of you are still watching for updates on this but what you do is hold down the bottom button, click watch face, scroll all the way to the right, click the + button, scroll down or up to the background you want, then keep scrolling right and up and down for the rest of the settings you want. Last thing you want to do is scroll all the way left until it asked you if you want to save your settings. It won't show as live until you save it.

I just bought the venu and found this very helpful. However, I’ve done all the trouble shooting possible and although I see an incoming call on the watch, my text messages from my iPhone are not syncing to the watch. Please can anyone help with this. I’m getting so frustrated. Thanks.
Hi! I am looking to get a smartwatch for new year... The Venu is quite expensive where I live, about 230euros, but I have an option to get amazfit stratos 2 for only 60, new. I know they are not in the same league, but, if you have a couple of minutes to spare, I would like your opinion. I am also looking at samsung galaxy watch (about 140e), and amazfit gtr 47mm (about 100e). I am 58, and I only do a lot of walking, and tennis in summer... thanks!

How well does it track weight lifting? There’s always latency issues of course with wrist based activity trackers but the Apple Watch actually does very well so curious how this one is.
Michael Lee According to the review of Vivoactive 4 by Techy Agent Garmin seems to have beaten Apple in terms of heart rate accuracy even for weight lifting type workouts. Michael Lee I trust techy agent, actually he’s a bit apple fun :) But also some other details have an effect on heart rate measuring performance such as skin colour, hair density, blood flow quality etc. DcRainMaker doesn’t test it on weightlifting, you may wait for the review by Desfit.
Bjørn Are Østerlie got it. The whole auto rep is a gimmick anyways. I have a specific app (Strong) that I use specifically to log. With the Apple Watch you can log the workout directly on the watch and it also detects the heart rate the whole time.
Hello, nice review. Could you please tell us what the screen looks like when someone is calling? Do you see the name, number (or both) or the picture of the person if it is attached to your contact? Also can yo urespond to messages? And one more thing. Is it possible - like on Fenix watches - to personalize the screen so you can see as much info as possible? Like time, steps, heartbeat, stres etc?
I'm interested to know - have you found it to be an issue when you are running to have the image on your watch reappear? The only thing I'm hesitant about it the fact the display disappears. Not a huge problem, unless it doesn't want to pop back up when I need to look at my stats.

Thanks for the video! What does the Bike Indoor setting do vs the regular setting? Without an additional sensor is there any value to the Bike Indoor setting?
Bike indoor simply shuts off GPS (which saves on battery, and on having a weird GPS dot on a map for going nowhere). You'll want speed/cadence sensors on your bike if you want to measure that indoors. Some smart trainers also broadcast that too.
For a casual person,who want to record his sport activities, want to use the watch as daily driver and never had a smartwatch before(wont be an issue I think, but who knows), which watch do you recommend? Galaxy Watch Active 2 or Garmin Venu?

Hey Ray, any screen protectors you can recommend for this watch? After watching your reviews I decided for this one, over the Vivoactive 4, but coming from a Fenix 5 (no longer able to tri) where I didn’t need it (sapphire glass), I’m concerned about this screen.
It's one of the default watch faces. Hold down the bottom button, click watch face, scroll right until you get to the + and click on it. Then scroll up or down until you find that background. Scroll right and up and down until you get all the other settings where you want them. Last scroll all the way back to the left until it asks you if you want to save.
Does the Garmin Venu work better with iPhone OS than the Polar Vantage?? I’ve been using Polar for years, the old S710 with its training software on my old PC ( it had temperatures, nice feature) then the M400 before the updates and now the M600, short battery life with GPS. I like the Polar Flow for training Diary but Strava is fine too. What’s your thoughts? I travel, ride bikes and do lots of indoor and outdoor training.

Here is the way to do Hard Reset on Garmin Venu 1. Switch off the device. 2. Long press back key. 3. Press start key together for 8 seconds. 4. Loosen BACK key and long press START and BACK keys together. 5. After first vibration, loosen START key. 6. After second vibration, loosen BACK key You need to download Garmin Express to update or else risk to get frequent shut down.
GPS presentation is missing. When you buy a GPS watch, I think it's important to make a presentation about it. Unfortunately nobody does. How does it look like in this watch? Garmin has more or less precise GPS depending on their various watches. Can we use it to navigate?
Garmin should allow developers to utilize an always on display that has more available screen resolution. The always on display that is available for most 3rd party apps is very limited. Many users would gladly sacrifice some Battery life for a more robust always on display. This Would make it a much closer Competitor to the Apple watch 5.

It may be helpful to mention that the Venu does NOT support "courses" :-( You can create courses in the Garmin Connect app but upon sending to device it will tell you that the Venu is incompatible. Weird Garmin. Why?

That’s definitely not right/good. Give it a full fresh charge, and ensure the firmware is up to date.

What about text messages? Or phone calls? My phone alerts me when someone is calling but nothing to do with text messages.

Yup, you can specify the shortcut key, which is simply swiping left to right on the screen. Going straight to music is one of those options.

Had the Venu for a month. Sleep tracking and the auto rep detection during weight training were the most disappointing aspects of this watch.

How is venu’s build quality compared to fenix line?
It’s not as nice, but it’s also perfectly good. After all, the Fenix is 2-3x the price.

Yup
The watch itself seems to not be very smooth going from one screen to the other. Kind of laggy like the Fitbit Versa.
Yeah I think they trade the good battery life for a shitty processor, like the huawei watch gt2

GPS presentation is missing. When you buy a GPS watch, I think it's important to make a presentation about it. Unfortunately nobody does. How does it look like in this watch? Garmin has more or less precise GPS depending on their various watches. Can we use it to navigate?

Garmin should allow developers to utilize an always on display that has more available screen resolution. The always on display that is available for most 3rd party apps is very limited. Many users would gladly sacrifice some Battery life for a more robust always on display. This Would make it a much closer Competitor to the Apple watch 5.

Still looking for an android heart rate zone alert since active 2 is still working on it. Question is, does this watch have that alarm feature?
It has HR alerts for specified ranges. It doesn’t matter if it’s Android or iOS as alert only goes to watch.

It may be helpful to mention that the Venu does NOT support "courses" :-( You can create courses in the Garmin Connect app but upon sending to device it will tell you that the Venu is incompatible. Weird Garmin. Why?
