What Mike Portnoy brings to any song he plays, puts him on another level. His chops are insane. I’ve been playing drums almost thirty years and try as I might, I can never sound like him. Dream Theater May no longer be his family, but he’s still one of the best drummers alive.
OSI is awesome. Gavin Harrison really took the drumming to a different level. He really is the drummer of choice nowadays. Too bad the band never toured.

I don't care what people think of Mike, he brings so much feel to a song. Just look at how DT turned out we he left... DT sounds robotic now.
One of the few metal drummers I can tolerate, always musical, never full on sport drumming, always plays the song.
