Holy moly that is one RIDICULOUSLY difficult cadenza 🫨! My favourite out of these is either Hirschhorn's or Hahn's. Chloe Chua is amazing, but I don't think she can be compared to the other, much older violinists (yet) who have decades of career on top of her. Just my opinion. Also, can you perhaps make a video comparing Joachim's/Kreisler's cadenza for Brahms violin concerto? This is a selfish request as I'm currently learning this piece haha.
Man was his technique from another planet. Light, effortless, crystal clear, chords perfectly in tune. Only one who comes close is Hilary, but maybe her tempo is a tad slow for this cadenza.
@@Violin-Villain It isn't Paganini, it is Sauret, and yes, as always, musicality is paramount. In the full performance by Chloe Chua in particular, the cadenza (like Paganini's concerto) is revealed to have great lyrical beauty.
@@Tripod-ld4qv Although it is rarely performed as such these days, Paganini's first violin concerto is in fact a bel canto work that is very lyrical, and even Mozartian in part. There is no such thing as "showing off" in music that is even half decent. You should avoid instrumentalists who indulge in it like the plague.
@@jackburgess8579 i respect your opinion, but in my point of view his cadenza is extremelly interesting in terms of music, his vibrato is very particular but Repin vibrato, for example, is aso very fast and intense, for me it just feels like he forgot the technic difficulties of this cadenza and just sang. Also to take on account, his cadenza is a live performance in Queen Elizabeth competition, which makes it even more impressive.
Hilary 😊
Nice choice!

Here, Chloe is 17 while Hirschhorn and Narita are both 20 - and in their different ways, like Kim not as good.
Sure, coming out soon!
To be fair, this wasn’t chloe’s stage performance

Good spot! (That explains a lot.)
A very nice and useful video!
Thank you so much!
Kogan is the most perfect with impressive clarity and secure vibrato
As is so often the case, Kogan is the man to beat.

Kogan for sure ❤
Roman kim is underrated, the confidence is crazy 😂😂
Confidence sure, musicality not so much.
@@jackburgess8579 dude this is paganini does it seem like there needs to be musicality

@@jackburgess8579 I do like Roman Kim's interpretation here... This cadenza is supposed to sound like one is showing off imo

Hirschhorn the best
Hirschhorn's performance of this cadenza is vastly overrated.
Here, it is strained and the vibrato is ghastly.

Repin? Did you mistype?
Chloe Chua and Tatsuo Narita are also live (not sure about Kim or Kogan).
