Ballade No.1 for Solo Violin - Chopin - Arr. JZ
มุมมอง 33หลายเดือนก่อน
This is Chopin's Ballade written for Solo Piano, which I turned into a solo violin score. The sheet music is available on musescore: musescore.com/user/43788965/scores/20259049?share=copy_link Though this is extremely difficult to play, as a violinist, I can confirm it is playable. The audio (due to its difficulty) is generated by musescore. Notes: - The harmonic (first beat of b. 65) at 2:40 i...

This is crazy difficult oml, I'd imagine you'd break your hands in 7 different ways trying to play this!
hear me out Roman, Chloe & Hilary
Oistrakh and Hilary and Jansen, best Oistrakh
Roman kim is underrated, the confidence is crazy 😂😂
Confidence sure, musicality not so much.
@@jackburgess8579 dude this is paganini does it seem like there needs to be musicality
@@Violin-Villain It isn't Paganini, it is Sauret, and yes, as always, musicality is paramount. In the full performance by Chloe Chua in particular, the cadenza (like Paganini's concerto) is revealed to have great lyrical beauty.
@@jackburgess8579 I do like Roman Kim's interpretation here... This cadenza is supposed to sound like one is showing off imo
@@Tripod-ld4qv Although it is rarely performed as such these days, Paganini's first violin concerto is in fact a bel canto work that is very lyrical, and even Mozartian in part. There is no such thing as "showing off" in music that is even half decent. You should avoid instrumentalists who indulge in it like the plague.
Hirschhorn the best
Hirschhorn's performance of this cadenza is vastly overrated. Here, it is strained and the vibrato is ghastly.
@@jackburgess8579 i respect your opinion, but in my point of view his cadenza is extremelly interesting in terms of music, his vibrato is very particular but Repin vibrato, for example, is aso very fast and intense, for me it just feels like he forgot the technic difficulties of this cadenza and just sang. Also to take on account, his cadenza is a live performance in Queen Elizabeth competition, which makes it even more impressive.
@@pedrosousa8694 Repin? Did you mistype? Chloe Chua and Tatsuo Narita are also live (not sure about Kim or Kogan).
As is so often the case, Kogan is the man to beat.
Man was his technique from another planet. Light, effortless, crystal clear, chords perfectly in tune. Only one who comes close is Hilary, but maybe her tempo is a tad slow for this cadenza.
Holy moly that is one RIDICULOUSLY difficult cadenza 🫨! My favourite out of these is either Hirschhorn's or Hahn's. Chloe Chua is amazing, but I don't think she can be compared to the other, much older violinists (yet) who have decades of career on top of her. Just my opinion. Also, can you perhaps make a video comparing Joachim's/Kreisler's cadenza for Brahms violin concerto? This is a selfish request as I'm currently learning this piece haha.
Here, Chloe is 17 while Hirschhorn and Narita are both 20 - and in their different ways, like Kim not as good.
Sure, coming out soon!
To be fair, this wasn’t chloe’s stage performance
@@twosettersgang Good spot! (That explains a lot.)

Kogan for sure ❤
Hilary 😊
Nice choice!
A very nice and useful video!
Thank you so much!
Kogan is the most perfect with impressive clarity and secure vibrato
The flexibility in Cho's left hand is just outstanding
I will always love Cho's version. His musicality is kind of modern and i feel very identified with it.
imo, even though horowitz's bass is too strong for my liking i absolutely love what he does at 7:53-7:54 onwards with the subito mp and then crescendo. now i can't unhear that part without those dynamics
Zimmerman has the greatest B section of all time same with Horowitz !
Horowitz Bass is mind-blowing, but Zimerman is the best among the pianists for Chopin's Ballades.
Zimerman solos anyone if we're talking about Chopin.
Thank you so much for watching.
I feel like you shouldve used seong jin chos studio recording rather than the live it sounds better
Good idea!
@@onemeeliondollars This live performance is very passionate
I think that Zimerman is the best
Yeah, I think he could achieve the balance between velocity and subtlety
agreed. zimerman's performance feels the more cathartic.
Same here! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for sharing!
No problem, thank you for watching!
i like kerson keong, ehnes, hahn
Good choice
