It doesn't seem like much but he said "Im glad I'm Glad I Came outside today" That speaks volumes about anxiety and the way he appreciates the little things
I caught that too
You can tell just by his body language he's super anxious
I related to that the most
@@ashleybrown4754for sure. Makes what the guy is doing even more impressive, he can overcome.
Definitely relatable, as someone who also struggles. Appreciate the message around leaning into discomfort.
Used to skate with ben as a kid near where we grew up. He taught me how to drop in. Told me “pretend your biggest enemies face is on the ramp, and stomp as hard as you can on it”. It worked
good stuff
Epic Story💯🤘🏻
Classic
Amazing
this never happened
I met Ben at the Hockey premiere in Chicago, he signed this lady’s LV bag as “Tony Hawk”
Identity theft is so cool....
That's hilarious
😂
that's fucking sick
woohhh totally edgy bro.. whata wild card
"well he's very culinary" cut to him with the cig in the open fridge killed me
Pretty much every cook i know smokes cigs, drinks or does drugs and most of those i know do all three combined. It can be a very stressing job lol
He works in NYC kitchens.
You clearly have less than no idea as to how demanding/draining that is.
@@trippinmoonjuice6734 100% see: the bear - this whole episode gave me that imagery just remixed with a new sub plot
@@dpclerks09 What about the guy's comment makes you think that he has 'less than no idea' about working in a kitchen?
@@davidhughes8795 No for real, why is brother such a hater lol. He's on the wrong video
I'm not really familiar with skating and its scenes but i really like free spirited people like this dude. The world would be a boring place without people like this.
You might be surprised. It has taken roughly half a century for skating to actually be cool with free spirits.
@@shaunsolomon3229 you sound like a snob
That Dill and Ave are worried what Ben thinks about him speaks volumes. Dude must be a real one.
LOL I'm sorry but you're giving Jason Dill way too much credit he's just a try-hard dork pretending to be a artist off his meds at all time and not just some rich kid from Huntington Beach pretending
@@rhettfreeman8186 I agree, Dill is a bit of a kook and seems quite self centred but I had the same thought about Ben's opinion mattering to Ave and how much weight that carries
Jason Dill now looks like he ate Anthony Van Engelen
I laughed so hard when Ave said that 😂😂. No one thinks you're a kook Anthony I promise
Yeah, that was funny.
I mean Dill, you could write another 10 paragraphs about, his 'kook V. cool' levels, etc....
But AVE is AVE! He doesn't go around spewing BS from the mouth. His skating does most of the talking and AVE's got to be one of the best to ever do it.
Also, BA, a gentleman and a scholar. Such a well spoken and down to earth person.
"I don't do graffiti I just cover up stuff I hate seeing" 😂Then he points at the "You get me so high" 😂😂
nasty ass neoliberal art
Given that he isn't a real graff head, but realizing that street skating is graffiti is so on point
Liberal graffiti
That graffiti design was awesome!!
I highly enjoyed this video!
Ben is one of the few skaters that is truly pushing boundaries. One can only get so buck and so tech, but Ben shows us that through personality and style there are infinite paths to take.
Amen, Brother.
The 'Epicly Later'd' we all needed.
It's strange, I've never been inspired to watch one before now. There was just something different about the skater. The thumbnail just didn't look typical, I knew nothing about him. I enjoyed that video. Cheers Vice.
frfr, he reminds me of the better days and that dude that didnt make it. but he did. legend
@@CrapKerouac There are so many cool episodes. Get to it!
I didn’t know it till now but yes you’re absolutely right. His Authenticity and humility is amazing. He’s like the east coast heath kirchart with the anxiety of Alex Olson. Just a fascinating human.
I just want to hug Ben Kadow. I can feel the anxious energy. It reminds me of myself when I skate. Very aggressive, yet self conscious of your tricks and being annoyed after not landing some thing perfect. Mad respect.
Same here man, same here
“FA is up River , and Hockey is down River.” Lol 💀 I love Ben
FA about to sink. Got 1 hitter and a bunch of mediocrity.
@@johnmeehan7884 your best trick doesnt make the throwaway pile of FA lmao
what does he mean by that?
@@johnmeehan7884 couple hitters still. Berle, Louie, Jake and Curren.
@@usernamed4642 in the Dylan Rieder episode when he’s talking about Alien Workshop. Dill is interviewed mentioning that the team was split into guys who really get dirty and are in the trenches street skating. Those are the “down river” kids. And then he says Berra, Mikey Taylor and Dyrdek are up river where they have the internet and the fishing is good. That’s why dill was embarrassed when he heard Ben said that lol 😅
As a line cook. I can honestly say the coolest people to work with is skaters. Super funny and super dedicated to culinary skills
Instant respect when I saw that he worked in kitchens, not everyone can do it.
Same I've had like 8 years in kitchens it's always great to meet another cook on the street or another skater in the kitchen
There's gotta be something similar in the attitudes of cooks and skaters. Repeat the same thing over and over again, constantly looking to improve. Stamina. Tolerance for pain and discomfort.
Never thought about it, or imagined I’d be reading this in TH-cam comments.
But as a guy who’s skated for 53 years, and cooked for over 40, this makes a lot of sense.
@@enneff You've gotta be a glutton for punishment for both.
Ben is the epitome of real street skating, high Ollie's, fat slappies, wallies, pop shoves and everything he does it the heart of street skating
A Comment at it’s finnest 😂❤
This is just words. Words that dont actually mean a damn thing. He could be a skaters favorite skater but he not what you say he is.
@@jimboshrumprelax on the acid, ur perspective meaning nothing, we don’t know the guy😊
@@jimboshrump So is your comment. They're just words. Words that don't actually mean a damn thing.
He has also a real nasty tre flip
I remember seeing him for the first time as an 18yr old. It messed with my head, I adored him a lot
Really cool how he stopped to say hi and appreciate that woman’s art. What a guy.
Loved this. Ben Kadow has been one of my favorites since Hockey II. I can’t believe that Patrick was able to get Benny Maglinao to talk on camera.
Dude, I am an adult and want to be like Ben. Maybe less anxiety but more have the ability to accept and understand yourself.
It's never too late. Just so you know.
I could watch a 2 hour episode of Ben
I dont skate but I paint, skating is an art, and this dudes an inspiration to artists everywhere.
i think you're doing that thing where you call something "art" to make it above criticism. majority of art is actually shitty. do you really think there's that many masters of art out there?
@@i-never-look-at-replies-lol I think you have no idea what you just said
You wrote what I was thinking. Watching this gives me energy for my next painting
Went into this thinking why does he have an episode. Left it thinking how grateful i am to have watched this.
Never judge a book by its cover. I don't know him but he must be awesome. A joy to watch skating.
I grew up in the 80’s riding skateboards and I can totally relate with him. I too was the quiet kid in the corner that nobody really understood, dressed “funny”and didn’t speak even when spoken to. Keep doing whatever makes sense in your head and never stop being genuine 👊
kinda sad cooper winterson didn’t get a interview, he’s honestly my favorite filmer and skater of all time dropping classics like \m/ which got so many people into skating his story deserves a epicly latered in its own to be honest.
Shouts out coop. TH-cam skate legend
For real
him and daniel dent need an episode, underrated goats
All these years I've imagined Ben to be a Russian immigrant unable to speak English and staying in the United States illegaly. Weird to hear him talk. Great video, what a legend
Ben’s part in Blessed really changed my entire perspective on what skateboarding could be. There is no one like him
I love skate culture for its ability to celebrate unique characters who don’t conform to the archetype! Ben’s a keeper 😊
been watching Ben for almost 10 years now. glad to see this video
Ben shows more art in his skating than anyone else in the game and is the first pro to truly influence me since PJ Ladd came out with WHL and that says something. Ben Kadow I’m rooting for you to get SOTY 2025. Think about it he brought a whole new style to skating so raw and artistic. Mad respect 💯
don’t think i’ve even heard ben talk before. need to do a sage episode next!!
So pumped that this series is still going. Make more!!!
Skateboarding is the ultimate challenge
😂
Thank you for this, goated quote
Mine was the og comment from that one vid
this is my all time favorite episode, ben k has always been such an enigma and getting this unfiltered genuine look into his life is an absolute treat, thank you patrick!!
Amen, Brother.
Absolutely loving these Epicly Later'd Docs! Been watching for a decade!
Ben has been my favorite skater for the past 3 years this is awesome
This was amazing. Individuality and creativity are always so rad to see in skateboarding. The Thiebaud half flip Speed Freaks reference was a stoker.
So proud of you Ben. Seeing the van clip sent me down watching old videos again. Feel like I remember us watching Epicly Later’d videos together way back and now I’m watching you in one, you’re the man ❤
Maximum respect to Pat, Ky and Heath. Keep them coming Vice
Got to skate and hang with Ben and his close group of homies one time. I was from outta town and knew one of his friends who invited me to come chill with em for the day. To this day one of my favorite memories as a teen. Skated New York street all day seeing and seshing iconic spot after spot and then driving to his bros house off Manhattan smoking blunts on the highway listening to Acid King. Hit up Mickey Ds and another lil shop park and then went to his buddies home where we proceeded to get drunk and go wandering the woodsy neighborhood half naked bumming cigs off each other laughing our faces off and cutting up before going inside watching skate videos and passing out on the floor.
You never know at the time when you are making memories that will last a lifetime. That was definitely one of those days for me! ❤
Surprised there was no mention of lurknyc, I feel like that's where most people found out about Ben...
came here to say this
I didn't but I'm going there r/n
definitely where i first saw him skate...
his footy was too good to not mention
Bro forgot his roots. Too cool for school smh
Can’t believe you got Ben K from Ben K gluten free pasta reviews for this episode
I just always loved his style. Just so easy and at the same time so gnarly.
Big props to his cool ass sister for having the board that got him into this in the first place 🤙🏾
In a world where people conform to societal norms in attempts to stand out while using mental strife in place of personality, Ben is a completely original breath of fresh air that not only the skate scene but the world in general needs being unapologetically true to himself.
This has most certainly become an instant favorite Epicly Later'd!
I also snowboarded regular and skated goofy :)
kynan tait, and heath kirchart really did an amazing job with this one. so aesthetically pleasing to watch. the grade is so good
I LOVE how O'Dell compares Ben to Darby Crash at 4:22. Great pull. This is a stellar episode from the beginning.
That was some of the best 26:47 video watching i ever had.
I wanted more
Well deserved. My favorite skater since 2019.
Up river and down river quote was legendary
Awesome video. I love this series cause it introduces me to skaters and their stories that I’ve never seen before. It’s super inspiring, not only as a skater but as a person. Ben seems really down to earth and is a great skater.
Dill has morphed into my old shop teacher.
He’s starting to look and sound like an old lesbian librarian
@@Jeradjjames barbra dill
Hes prolly knitting them sweaters at home with a cat on his lap.
they were talking about kadow's grandma and then dill's voice came in and i thought "oh cool they interviewed his grandma" and then dill popped up lmao
So what@@Jeradjjames
These episodes never disappoint. I’ve never heard of Ben before but he seems like an awesome dude. Yall picked the right person to feature.
Always carry a flashlight in case someone tries to attack you. Nobody has a defence for bright light. They won’t be able to touch you. 3:49
That scene with the old man with the walking cane is great. Great clip.
I love that they got the "downriver" poke at Dill. Priceless!
can you explain this?
as someone who’s been following the Ben lore for years this is so great to see. love the cooking to skating pipeline and think he represents working class street skateboarding with humor and intensity. plus the dude has swagger up the ass
this is why i love this series
Needed this one for a while
Really surprised LurkNYC wasn’t mentioned, especially seeing as some footage from him was used :/
this was dope , always wondered what his deal was because he always stood out as unique and authentic , best episode ive seen
BA seems like the coolest fucking dude not many people can take themselves out of situations they're involved with and just want the best for there friend
It's because he did the same thing when he left toy machine , biw he was on the other end and he couldn't hate.
Definition of authentic. Regardless of skill, he is who he is and doesn’t try to be anything but himself.
Really nice of John Waters to make a cameo in here
Ben Kadow keeping things in his fridge and basically growing things around his place like the dude from "EraserHead " and even saying" they're like my babies" and Dill saying to that ".. well he's very Culinary " made me pissmyself laughing 😆 .. yeah he was a mystery to all of us, but somehow I already knew that he's like the original eraserhead xD (I mean im the same erasehead)
as a person with bad anxiety in general and especially in skating i relate to ben so much
That was so fkn good. So relatable, he just did something huge for so many kids by showing himself just being who he is.
I have just seen something i love and someone doing it so uniquely
Finally Vice doing what it does best after 1o years. Keep it up.
I wish this episode was two hours long 😩. 😎 awesome stuff
back when i still skated, ben kadow and sean pablo was like one of the coolest dudes i saw
bro foreal. As well Aidan Mackey, he was always one of my favorites. They inspired me to get my impossibles to look good great
Dill is looking like he is in a skit where skaters are portrayed as the older version of themselves in the future 👴🔮
I have to admit- first time I seen this kid skate- angry punk rocker plain Jane 80s style unique af - was hyped to see this epicly latered
Ben kadow always skates like he is forced too but bro good af
He forces himself to go outside bc of the social anxiety aspect. Skateboarding is his escape I'm the same way
Epicly Later’d has gotta be the best series on youtube, love these videos so much!
I remember the first time I've seen Ben k videos I was blown away. His style and the way he skates was somthing I've look forward too. Very interesting skater and was hype they did a epicly laterd
I wish we could know how he got here mentally. I feel like if he was able to heal maybe some parts of his past that may need healing or have caused his anxiety, he would be a happier human overall and not have to subject himself to these habitual moods. Easier said than done but I think he deserves to be happy and enjoy life while he is still skating
So good. Ben, thank you for doing this.
ben kadow is a legend.
thanks everyone who makes these happpen. great work. keep skating.
We needed this one
Love this, need one of KROD, truly an enigmatic pro skater
was thinking the same thing
I managed to speak to Patrick back in February and that was his first choice to make an epicly later’d on, maybe KROD didn’t want to yet, tbh was just as surprised to see Ben was down tho
K Rod had one interview and supposedly he hated how he was portrayed and written about, he said he's never going to do another interview again
a krod interview is just delusion
the world loves you Ben
this is Bens world, and we’re just living in it ❤️
one of my favorite skaters from back in the day, super hyped on this
So good to see this, seeing his skating in the Supreme and Hockey always fired me up, loved the comment that was made about every trick being like an outfit reveal too! Also, stoked that he asked for a Skarfing Material article, would be happy to give some of that hot sauce a go!
Ben Kadow is my spirit animal. 😂
i feel like i just wathced a 80's british punkrock skate movie. genuine cool doc once again.
I think they forgot to make Cooper Winterson spoke , Ben appears in many of his videos and is part of that skate philosophy.
I think u mean history 💀
deadass was not until last year i found out he wasn’t british, i’ve been watching his clips for the past few years with the impression that he was british this whole time 😭😭
Sage episode!!
Sup .I'm Len from new Zealand. 3 years - 24 years I grew up skateboarding everyday allmost had a bad accident that's put me back Abit now but I really like this guy for his half flip .I was doing them when I was really young n a teen I mastered it in with alit of different things and I didint even think of it as a half flip or anything cool at all never seen it done I just started doing it naturally for some resone when going over cutrin hips n curbs n roots growing in the foot path ... Ps I used to skate around Christchurch everyday all-day !
I'm 54 and have always loved Street boarding more than any other.
The best dude, love his vibes and style. The reason why I keep pushing today
Skateboarding embraces diversity and originality, that's awesome. Also, let's not forget the importance of mental health.
Gay
Finally know what Benny Magliano looks like, been following since he was filming with Alien Workshop dude is just as much of an enigma as Ben is
"nollie heelflip"😂
So glad he kept skating after the lobotomy. Extremely brave.
Thank you Patrick - keep 'em coming. So well done
Dill is looking like a Nutty Professor character 👴🔮
Love Dill! FA for life
Tht or a “goofy movie” Disney character
These are great. Keep going.
I was stoked to see Ben on this. Great choice.
i saw him on the street once, told him i loved his skating and he didn't even bat an eye
