Aloha everyone, Mahalo for the overwhelming support for our beautiful Lahaina town. We wanted to post a few charities that are available in case you wanted to help.. There are thousands of people and animals that have been displaced from the recent wildfires including an estimated $6 billion in damages with over 2,700 buildings destroyed. 😔 Please consider donating to one or more of the charities below. Anything helps! Again Mahalo for your support. Together we are #Lahainastrong
The Maui Strong Fund, run by the Hawai'i Community Foundation, is accepting donations for necessities like food, clothing and shelter for families who have lost their homes.
    www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/maui-strong
The Maui Food Bank is accepting donations that will pay for meals provided to displaced residents in Maui.
    mauifoodbank.org/
The Maui Humane Society is seeking contributions to fund care for pets displaced by the wildfire.

@@HawaiiWalkingToursMaybe the ppl can use this & your other videos as "blueprints" to rebuild the town back to the way it was. I've never been there, bit they like to replace quaint buildings with modern ugly, cold, buildings. I hope the ppl have strong leaders, find strong lawyers, because they're going to get screwed by the government. Happens every time. :(

Thank you for this video. It helps to see it the way I just did two weeks ago. I was born and raised on Maui and grew up in Lahaina. I remember when there used to be a Red Lobster, Planet Hollywood, & WB store. I remember climbing on the banyan tree and fort as a keiki (back when we were allowed to!). I remember hopping on those stumps in front of the Wharf, and jumping to try to reach every store front sign. I learned to surf right along the harbor at breakwall. I drove my bike down Lahainaluna to work at the Honolulu Cookie Company next to Lapperts. I parked right across from the wharf while working my shift at Crazy Shirts. I remember closing the store for a short break to catch the fireworks from the harbor with my parents. I took the ferry multiple times to Lana'i, and took boat rides out with the Pacific Whale Foundation. We went to the library often. My friends and I would cruise down the street, sometimes in a pickup truck bed or on a skateboard grabbing on the back of cars. I saw many movies at the theater in both the Wharf and at the shopping center that became the outlets. Longhis and Bubba Gumps were thriving, and we would close out the bar at Moose McGillycuddy's. I miss my home so much. It remains in my memories, but I physically can never go back there again. This place was everything to me and now it's gone.

I was there just three months ago, in May. I drove through Lahaina twice, along Front St. and this route. I recognize a lot of the businesses/shops. How could I ever know that in just a few months, the old Lahaina would be gone. Now I'm so glad I did get to experience it, but my heart goes out to the locals who have lost so much, and to all of Maui and Hawaii. But the Aloha spirit is strong and Lahaina will again rise from the ashes. We should help in any way we can!

Wow....this is how I'll always remember it. It's going to be so hard to recover from this tragedy. I mean, this was the tourist heartbeat of Maui. It's almost the same as if all of South Beach in Miami Beach caught fire and was destroyed. I'm sure that it can be rebuilt but it'll never be the same with the massive loss of all of those historic buildings.

Not easy to rebuild and older people usually can't afford it or have the emotional strength or physical strength to start over. When this happened in Oakland it changed the neighborhood because the old timers move on it took years to clear reinstall infrastructure and rebuild. Traditions are lost.

I keep rewinding parts of this great video and freezing frames along the tour of Front St, in an attempt to capture my memories of this wondrous place, and reminisce the time when I visited Lahaina back in May of 2018. I can’t believe it’s sadly gone now, like a beautiful fleeting dream. Thank you for sharing.

So sad, the fire that has destroyed this beautiful spot and taken so many lives. Thank you for this lovely film. Sending best wishes to you all at this difficult time.

I’m so happy that you shared this video. I have been watching through my tears grieving for what has been lost. In the end it’s buildings that can be replaced in a fashion but my heart goes out to those who lost their lives: they can never be replaced. Love and peace to Maui.

This is the most beautiful area I’ve ever seen. I took my wife to dinner for our anniversary years ago to Fleetwood’s on front Street and we are heartbroken that everything is now gone.
We are praying for the families and souls of all those affected. 😢😢🙏🏾🙏🏾

I lived there, right on Front Street, right next to Wharf Cinema Center and a couple other spots right behind Front Street, for all of 1998. An amazing year, one of the times of my life for sure. I had jobs at Wharf Cinema Center, Cheeseburger In Paradise, Moose McGillicuddy's, Kimo's, Lahaina Fish Co., Lahaina and Maui Princess dinner cruise boats, and Westin Kaanapaali Resort and O'Reilly's Steakhouse at Kaanapaali Golf Course. I was always busy and on-call and was able to work as much or little as I wanted My brother has lived there for 35 years and has been staying in Napili and working in Kaanapaali for the past 2 years so he and his areas are fine except for still being without power and internet. He undoubtedly lost some people in the fires that we both know but this is devastating for him and all the people there and everyone in the world who ever visited. My mom visited for a month every year for the past 20 years, right in Old Town, at Lahaina Shores resort. It wasnt damaged too much at all as it's made from brick and cement. My bro says to mail gently-used clothing to Lahaina Goodwill. I'm sending a couple of boxes to him directly and he will deliver and help disribute them, as well as staying put on the island to help any other way he can. He knows a ton of people and has been a construction worker for over 30 years as well as a star in local hospitality. I've never seen something like this happen to a world-class, world-famous vacation spot as well as a sacred historical area. And Ive never seen a place Ive lived at be destroyed. Unreal.

I have never heard of this town, but then again I only know so much about Hawaii. Although Chicago does have small Polynesian communities dotted around the city and suburbs. Prayers to Maui.

Born and raised on Maui, moved to Honolulu for high school, visited Lahaina many times. My heart just aches for this loss, and for the people who lived there, like my brother and his wife. Grief sucks!
