My 91 yr old husband is always thankful when anyone thanks him for his service. He was in Korea from Dec 1950 to Jan 1952...He said he had never been so cold. He is from a cold state, too. Thank you Toby Keith ......
That was my dad. He was a WWII and a Korean War veteran. He could have served in Vietnam but he retired the day before his unit got shipped out. He served for 22 faithful years until retiring in 1966. He was the reason why I went into the Army myself. He died while I was in the military and I devoted the rest of my military career to his memory. I love you and miss you, dad. I hoped I made you proud.
God bless you and your dad and thank you for your service. We can never repay men and women like you for what have given and sacrificed for us but please know that a lot of us still stand behind our military.

It's a sad time, especially for those in the military whom Toby supported, but to paraphrase General Patton, "We should rejoice that people such as this have lived among us." We must continue to pay tribute to Toby at the very least, by never apologizing for being a patriot, and voting. May God bless Toby's family and friends, and may his memory be a blessing.
I am a vet and when I go to the VA hospital I occasionally get to meet heros like this man. I am humbled by how humble they are. I called one a member of the greatest generation that saved the world at that time, he replied "no we just did what we had to", just like a hero would say. And not knowing his full story I do know this Manilla was a meat grinder, Korea was as well my dad was there and he never said one word about what he went through other than he had his left knee shattered, and in Vietnam the most dangerous job was being on a helicopter crew. So this hero has seen some serious shite, and survived. God Bless Him and America.

I would disagree my friends.. My father was a vet of the US Army ,my family lived around the world and many different places in the US. I was born on an army base. My father was in the Korean war for 2 years before being wounded. He first went to Viet Nam in 1961 and multiple times after. He taught me that THE USA is a FREE NATION ! ALL CITIZENS have a right to their opinions. He served those he didn't agree with,he served ATHE USA. I served the USA in the USN. As dad showed me FREEDOM is the right to be disrespectful! My father and I served under our FLAG. Both of us recognized FREEDOM meaning the right to burn that symbol! When our flag was placed on his casket and the honor guard carried dad to his grave and the salutes rendered ,Taps played... I saw our flag carefully folded by young men and women wearing the uniform of my father's Army,Our Army and feel the republic is in good hands. All the armed forces filled with the youth of Our nation carrying the colors forward into the future! The republic is safe! One day I too will lay under our nations flag ! I will rest easy as dad is! Long live our republic and our union !

Can we all just imagine the song Toby just finished writing. Hopefully with a video, too. Nobody else can tell a complete story of any mood in a 3-minute time frame. Yes, he is a legend, icon, genius, and patriot. I think due to the fact that he is a true, compassionate, Human being. I imagine we will all learn of many good deeds he did on Earth now, and did them privately. My dad was a Marine and guarded the Navajo Code Talkers on Iwo Jima in WWII. It was classified almost until he died on a Feb 5 many years ago and I wish we had been able to talk about it more. I wish even more that he had lived long enough to feel the appreciation of Toby Keith and to hear his touching music as well getting to laugh hysterically at his antics. You are needed in Heaven now, Toby, pain free. Thank you from Earth. ❤
OMG!! That wonderful man reminded me of my daddy. He also fought in WWI and Korea. He never talked about it to any of us kids. But I found out after he passed that he was suffering from PTSD which wasn’t a “thing” back then. He only talked about it to my nephew who was in the Navy. We never knew he was suffering because he never showed that to any of us. He always gave a lot to veterans charities. To honor my daddy, I took over the charities and added a couple more. To this veteran on stage, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service and sacrifice.

My father and his 2 brothers were Air Force and I have a uncle that retired from the U.S. NAVY. I'm the daughter of a WWII B-17 pilot, who stayed in the AF through Korea and Viet Nam when he retired. They ground the old boys so the young ones can take over. They are a dying breed. Every WW2 vet that I treat as a home health RN, I do it in my dad's memory. It is a generation that is truly unique.
You're so right, that generation was truly unique. My grandfathers also retired army vets, one WW2 vet and other was a helicopter pilot, medivac, during Vietnam and Korea. As a kid growing up, the B17 was always my favorite aircraft to build as a model or just to see one on a tv show. In 2015 I was able to go up on a flight in one, and immediately I had so much more admiration & respect for the flight crews of the B17 for all that they did & went through. I was fortunate enough once to meet Robert Morgan, who was the Pilot of the Memphis Bell, he was such an honorable man. And thank you as well for caring for the WWII Vets that you are around in your line of work!

I served in the Air Force and US COASTGUARD for 22 years and am proud of my service. I am proud of him and anyone else that was serving our great country. I always thank any other veteran I meet and I wish all other people would do the same. God bless America and all of our military.
I served 13 years in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. When we were deployed to Afghanistan in 2004 Toby was on tour with Ted Nugent. I was in Kabul. Toby was supposed to come to our base and do a meet and greet then go to Bagram airbase to do a big concert. Toby and Ted got of their chopper and saw our Thunderbirds and realized we were his Oklahoma family. He got on the horn with Bagram and told them he wouldn’t be doing a show with them that night. Instead some of OUr guys who had their guitars and amps there set Toby and Ted up on a flatbed truck and they sang to us for four hours. Then after the show they stayed until nearly dawn making sure that anyone who wanted a picture and autograph got one without complaint. Toby Keith will ALWAYS have my support because he saw his family and chose us at that time. Not to mention he’s a Sooner fan! Boomer! Thank you Toby and Ted for giving this Veteran a break from the rigors of combat even for just a few hours!

My father was also a WWII veteran and he served in France, Belgium and Bremerhaven Germany. I will always stand in solute to our wonderful veterans past and current. Our flag is a great symbol of freedom that they have sacrificed and protected so we can be free to do what we want and sleep safe at night. Anyone who kneels during a national anthem honoring our flag or burning it, should have their citizenship revoked and kicked out of this great country. If you don’t like it here and the freedom you have just leave. @FUNERAL BILL II, I am a military veteran and no, I did not receive that kind of welcome when I came home but you know what, I don't mind. Knowing that I came home safe and I did my job to the best of my ability and getting a "thank you for your service" from people is good enough for me.

Guy's like this man is the reason I served for my county
I'm the daughter of a WWII B-17 pilot, who stayed in the AF through Korea and Viet Nam when he retired. They ground the old boys so the young ones can take over. They are a dying breed. Every WW2 vet that I treat as a home health RN, I do it in my dad's memory. It is a generation that is truly unique.

You're so right, that generation was truly unique. My grandfathers also retired army vets, one WW2 vet and other was a helicopter pilot, medivac, during Vietnam and Korea. I miss them dearly and their stories. I'm sure your father is so proud of you, for caring for his brothers in arms, I have the upmost respect for nurses! Take care 🙂 ❤
As a kid growing up, the B17 was always my favorite aircraft to build as a model or just to see one on a tv show. In 2015 I was able to go up on a flight in one, and immediately I had so much more admiration & respect for the flight crews of the B17 for all that they did & went through. I was fortunate enough once to meet Robert Morgan, who was the Pilot of the Memphis Bell, he was such an honorable man. And thank you as well for caring for the WWII Vets that you are around in your line of work!

I served in the Air Force and US COASTGUARD for 22 years and am proud of my service. I am proud of him and anyone else that was serving our great country.
I always thank any other veteran I meet and I wish all other people would do the same.

I served 13 years in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. When we were deployed to Afghanistan in 2004 Toby was on tour with Ted Nugent. I was in Kabul. Toby was supposed to come to our base and do a meet and greet then go to Bagram airbase to do a big concert. Toby and Ted got of their chopper and saw our Thunderbirds and realized we were his Oklahoma family. He got on the horn with Bagram and told them he wouldn’t be doing a show with them that night. Instead some of OUr guys who had their guitars and amps there set Toby and Ted up on a flatbed truck and they sang to us for four hours. Then after the show they stayed until nearly dawn making sure that anyone who wanted a picture and autograph got one without complaint. Toby Keith will ALWAYS have my support because he saw his family and chose us at that time. Not to mention he’s a Sooner fan! Boomer! Thank you Toby and Ted for giving this Veteran a break from the rigors of combat even for just a few hours!
That is what makes America Great. My dad is 86 and served in Korea as a kid, Froze some nights and was afraid but stood his ground and fought like a man. I'm blessed to still have my dad with me. Collage age kids fought and died so collage kids today can wear mask and protest this country. What a world

My father was also a WWII veteran and he served in France, Belgium and Bremerhaven Germany. I will always stand in solute to our wonderful veterans past and current. Our flag is a great symbol of freedom that they have sacrificed and protected so we can be free to do what we want and sleep safe at night. Anyone who kneels during a national anthem honoring our flag or burning it, should have their citizenship revoked and kicked out of this great country. If you don’t like it here and the freedom you have just leave. Eugene Dexter Johnson, my father is buried in Igo State Cemetery for veterans near Redding California along with many other great veterans.

I served 12 years in the U.S. Army. I always wear my Army Veteran hat proudly and due to that and the Army tattoo on my arm, many come up to me and thank me for my service. Well, I would like to say to you all that are showing your gratitude for our service, THANK YOU for YOUR support! The oath of enlistment I took in 1980 at the age of 17 will NEVER expire.
