Given the overall circumstances of her grief and that of the family, she did a remarkable job accepting this award for Toby under extraordinarily difficult circumstances. I know why Toby loves her and why they were together for a lifetime. She is soft spoken, but genuine. Her love radiates out to all who cross her path. I never got to meet Toby Keith unfortunately. Loved his music and his music is the soundtrack of so many people's life's his impact surpasseses more than what he will ever know. Some can't afford or are well to do enough to see big names like him in concert or get the opportunity to meet him those he did are fortunate and again he's touched more people's life with his music than he will ever possibly know. Maybe on the other side when we meet him in Heaven maybe then he'll realize his impact. The amount of people musicians touch with their music and the people they meet just barely scratches the surface on how many fans Toby Keith had. And I'm sure I'm not the only one that never had the opportunity to meet him. There was one time many years ago down in Oklahoma when my brother Matt lived down there many years ago that I could of met him but he was having a bad day at his restaurant when they had a I love the Bar and Grill in OKC where I could have met him. But being he was not having a good day I didn't go upstairs to get his autograph and you never want to meet one of your hero's especially on a bad day and they disappoint you so I didn't meet him and get his autograph that day. But that was the one and only time I actually did have a chance at possibly meeting him. He doesn't know it but I really wanted to meet him that day but because of what happened we didn't want to upset him further. Evidently a fan before I got to the Bar & Grill had ticked Toby off and in true Toby fashion I think had suplex the guy through the table that we were going to sit at. My brother said hey wasn't that, the table we were going to sit at. And Matt my older brother found out he'd either suplex or thrown a guy off the top balcony of his restaurant this was probably a good 15 to 20 years ago when my brother lived in OKC. So Toby at times I heard could be a real sweetheart but also don't tick the guy off either. It kinda put a bad taste in my brother's mouth about Toby. To me I found it kinda of funny and reminds me of the time Toby suplex Jeff Jarrett in a TNA ring. Yes, Toby got in the ring with TNA founder and WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett and suplex him in the middle of the ring to the roar of the TNA fans. So that was what it reminded me off when Toby threw the guy off the top balcony of his restaurant that's the only memory I have of actually almost meeting Toby was one of the times going to his restuarant. I was so star struck going into his restuarant though and seeing his musical gold and platinum plaques on the wall was really bummed that I couldn't meet him that day and that he was having a bad day. So that is my Toby Keith story.
I'm still struggling with his death, as a lot of people. I truly can't imagine how his family feels. I listen to him and remember him happy and living life to his fullest.

We became really good friends during that time I was working at country connection another bar in Dallas and at the time I was dating Trace Adkins who was our house band the name of his band was bayou. So many memories of this wonderful man. Through the years I would go and see him at different places I would always send a napkin with the words remember bayou love Sheila and he would stand on the stage and say hi to me it always thrilled me that he would remember me

San Antonio is home to Fort Sam Houston Army Post and located there is Brooke Army Medical Center. The Center is where a big number of the military casualties are, especially those who were burn victims . Needless to say, before Toby came to the rodeo he spent many hours visiting with the troops. Then before it was time for his performance at the rodeo, wounded soldiers were brought out in wheel chairs, crutches, walkers, stretchers, etc, and put close to the rotating stage.
