As much as I understand the wanting to keep the game to having simpler cards, I think its really important to give players meaningful decisions during the game. If a start deck is just one drop, two drop, three drop then its not really interesting beyond going through the motions.
I literally have no idea what to do with some cards. Got this starter set and 2022. Paid like £23 for both. Just starting with it. Not sure I'll be buying anymore but I'm happy so far as I got 240 cards in total atm it'll be enough for someone with like 5 days of experience. Thanks for the video.
Yeah, I think you'll get at least a few weeks worth out of the decks. There's still a bit of a learning curve even though they've tried to simplify them for new players.
@@MTGUnpacked yes. I'm sure I'll get more than that. I'm super busy in life, playing a bit of warhammer and literally last Saturday I was introduced to cards. Do like it though. Not going to make it a lifelong obsession but i do appreciate the gameplay graphics and the idea so will definitely have a play every now and then. Thanks.
The izzet deck seems a little bit better organized and structured. I honestly like this kind of product, but I always get confused if I choose something like this, or a pioneer challenger deck, for example. These days, I'm only buying singles
I think I like the older kits, these decks aren’t bad, but I can see how a lot of the rare/mythic cards could be confusing to a new player unless elaborated upon.
This is miles better than the intro stuff that was around when I first started magic. Expert decks and such were such garbage haha. Fun, mind you, but the cards within were borderline unplayable. These at least have some value staples and more than like 2 rares
I learned how to play from one of the family night game sets (or whatever they are called) that my friend had a couple years ago. I felt like that was a great introduction to what the different colors specialize in, however this starter set has some of my fav cards in it... I am debating on getting this, or my own game night set to teach my brother how to play when I visit my family next month.
I play a Lot of commamder. My decks are: Mono black Vito vampire tribal life gain worth 240 usd, Gruul Tovalvar werewolves worth 170 usd, And mono green Rishkar +1/+1 counter deck worth 50 usd.v
I have been watching those videos to try to understand about those decks before deciding what to buy. The 2022 version was very simple and i could understand it really well, even knowing close to nothing about Magic. This 2023 version seems a lot more complicated to me, lot of counters and keywords.
Hi there, I have been playing MTG arena and finished my colour challenges still learning game I don’t feel confident on reading cards yet but I had a good go against sparky and colour challenges won all, however when I go against a “beginner deck player” with the decks given on the online game I stand no chance. Was looking at decks to buy instead in the hope of a win but would you reckon this could be a good one?
If you play these decks against each other, you will likely score some wins. However, they're pretty underpowered and unlikely to do well against a basic beginner constructed deck. Any of the Commander preconstructed decks are good picks if you want to play that format. Otherwise for Standard format, you can get some deck ideas from MTG Goldfish here: www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/standard#paper
I also recommend checking out the 3 most recent decks on my deck tech playlist (rats, bunnicorn or faeries) here: Deck Techs th-cam.com/play/PLngr3MXyWo3EuEovw8HLVU9SGBpEqn-SC.html
Thinking of getting this to play with my wife. Doesn't seem too fancy, we're absolute noobs and just want to have a fun compact game to take with us on holidays. Any other recommendations, or should this starter kit do it?
As a certified Yugimans enjoyer I actually got into MTG from the jumpstart booster packs via my buddy's at my LGS. Recently we picked up one of these boxes at Target which led me to this video. So far I'm enjoying the product, but from what I know about magic this seems like It was intended for people who have little to no experience with card games at all....for example this probably would have made a great holiday gift for my sister and I when we were kids.
Yes, next month there will be an Assassin's Creed MTG starter kit, and in August there will be one including cards from Bloomburrow (an upcoming set). All the 2023 starter kits should be identical.
@MTGUnpacked what's with baldurs gate and DND? Is there a story mode for that uses the dungeon card? Is baldurs gate still good to buy? I'm new to this and I'm from the Philippines. Thanks for answering. 🤩🤩🤩
The D&D set introduced the Venture into the dungeon mechanic. Only certain cards use that mechanic, but I don't think it was in the Baldur's Gate set. Battle for Baldur's Gate is still a decent set to buy, but only if you play the Commander format. The full list of cards using that dungeon mechanic are here: scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=oracle%3A%22Venture+into%22+%28game%3Apaper%29
Hey i have this deck i just strated playing it makes fun but i have a problem i mostly play on mtg arenar because i dont know much peopell who play and im now in bronze and i dont win anymore ist i because of me? Is it the deck? Happens the same stuff if i go to turnement at my store? If its the deck whats the next step, by a challenger deck? Ps:sry for my bad englisch
That's pretty normal. This deck is meant for total beginners, so it's not particularly competitive. That said, there's always an element of chance, so no deck will win all the time. There are older Pioneer challenger decks available in paper, but that format isn't available on MTG Arena yet. I suggest trying out some of the other free decks available on MTG Arena next, then take a look at some of the more competitive Standard-format decks listed on mtggoldfish.com

This is design for first timers. When they get bored, they move on to stronger cards. Redesign their deck and thus begins the addition...

I just bought these set in Germany, compare to English version, my deck just like i'm a real wizard reading ancient language spell

You’re tripping, the new kits are so much better and always worth getting. The new player can learn.

I learned how to play at the WOE prerelease draft event. I need to get mtg arena lol
why wouldn't they include token cards in the kit even though there were cards creating tokens in the decks.
I love that playmat its shiny

I' just purchased this and still learning how to begin lol

Yes, this is a good starting point. It also comes with MTG Arena codes so you can get a feel for how the decks play online before you play in paper.
I got the code for MTG Arena! Thank you! Also nice vids :)

i think this is kinda hard for someone who is starting to play now
I agree bro trying to teach someone whos never played MTG before is a nightmare.
Is there a 2024 starter? Does all 2023 star kit have identical cards?

@@MTGUnpacked thank you
It’s commander deck?
No, though you could use cards from this in a Commander deck if you wanted.
Videolarınız muhteşem. Bir şey sormak istiyorum: Türkiye'ye gönderim yapıyor musunuz setlerinizden alsak?
Evet, Patreon bağlantısı her videonun açıklamasındadır.

My starter kit was 6th edition 😂
This one doesn't seem as good of choice as the other previous ones
