Human, elf, dwarf, hobbit, goblin, orc, troll, worgs, treefolk, I like how this starter deck includes all the main lotr creatures you'll want. Such a cool starter set!
They did it justice for real. I play exclusively with lotr cards now! Fits right in to the game
honestly both of those decks look like they're playable and dangerous but still really simple. good job wotc and lotr!
I bought mine for 18.99 and it's funny how the starter kit as a lot of valuable rare cards that overcome that price 😌✨

Last time I played Mtg was in 01/02 during Odyssey! But I'm a huge Lotr fan soI just picked up this kit for €19. The first store I went it was sold out tho
Compared to the cost of everything else this is a cheaper and fun option.

I have this Starter Kit, and it is fun. May I ask where to go from here? What LOTR booster or package should I buy next?
If you're just after LOTR, the Commander decks are pretty good. Otherwise I'd recommend downloading MTG Arena to play. In paper, MTG Pioneer Challenger decks or any of the regular MTG pre-constructed decks are worthwhile.
I was able to order one! I love the lotr one of my favorite fantasy movies of all time.
I held off buying this Starter set because the Artwork (although very impressive) resembled virtually nothing I had come to know as LotR from watching the movies so many times over. However, I finally bought a set "on special" just for the "hell of it" and must admit the cards are surprisingly fun and are growing on me. I only play Mtg VERY casually, so this very well priced starter set is ideal.
Interesting. Since I'm interested in this set precisely because it doesn't look like the movies. It feels almost trippy to see lotr in different visual light than through the Jackson films which is how i always primarily knew it.
The art is more based on the books / traditional magic art. It’s Lotr through a magic lens. Took me a second to get use to it not being the actors from the film

Absolutely! Though these cards are only legal in a handful of formats (Commander, Modern, etc) and not the Standard format.
Would be nice if the decks actually had some more tokens.

Mines was a factory error ended up getting like 6 of the goblin assailant and like a bunch of the same cards in multiples and missing some cards

Brand new to MTG but massive LOTR fan I own this starter pack but don’t know where to go from here as there are so many different packs for cards. Can I just buy booster packs and add them to these decks?
That's the most expensive way to go! I suggest first playing with a bunch of decks on MTG Arena to get familiar with how they play. You can also get Starter Commander decks and Pioneer decks in paper, but both of those formats are more complicated than Standard. Check out the competitive decks (and others) on mtggoldfish.com and if you find something you like, you can buy individual cards from local game stores or online via sites like tcgplayer.com

No, I guess they wanted to keep these decks as simple as possible for new players.
Hi there, as a new comer (pure beginner) I am going to but this Starter Kit but you said it can’t be played in Standard Format, can it be upgraded by Booster so it still playable in Standard Format?
No, I don't think any of the cards are Standard-legal, though they're perfectly fine in the Commander format. There's another 2023 MTG starter kit that should be mostly Standard-legal, which I reviewed on the channel here: th-cam.com/video/9ZTRFRpdrO0/w-d-xo.html

They are LotR-specific, but not the full-art Middle Earth map lands, if that's what you mean?
Disappointed they don't have the LOTR maps on, like I've got in boosters.
I was planning to buy all these LOTR decks, but honestly I didn't like the way they went with main characters art.

And yet no one seems to be noting Magic is MORE faithful to Tolkien with Tom Bombadil, who was omitted completely from the Peter Jackson movies!
