    There are SO MANY products to choose from - which would you buy for someone just starting MTG???

      Not the latest set since the boosters are reduced to 12 cards per pack. Maybe an older set which the boosters are 15 cards per pack so he/she can have a larger card pool. And I wouldn't recommend him/her to play commander as a beginner to MTG 😂 it'll destroy his/her interest in the game because other older players already have decks that are a lot stronger.

      set boosters are great for new players to get inspired! For a baseline product though, I think friends should help them build super focused budget decks that they can tweak and edit, or they should pick up precons.

    It might be a good idea to incorporate budget into the discussion.

    I think The MtG: Arena tutorial is a good way to learn the game first. It's visual and interactive so you get you get a better experience of learning it. Then I'd actually say the starter kits do a good job of introducing someone to actually start playing.
    I agree with what someone said earlier. Commander isn't really a good way to start leaning magic, especially since it's so different from other formats.

    The first Magic product I bought was a Bundle. Thinking back on it, I probably would have started with a precon if I knew I was mainly gonna play commander.

    The product new players need is someone to teach them basic rules and concepts.... then 6 draft boosters.

  • @papaflowers5726
    @papaflowers5726 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    However it might be cool to have a format that is restricted on its rules text? 2 lines-16 words without reminder text?

    I have so many cards, I'm more liable to build someone a mono colored 60 card deck and bring up a TH-cam video of how to play. I'm a horrible teacher, myself.

    I know it's about sealed products, but, apart from decks, buy singles have been better... The prices and taxes at Brasil are astronomic to buy boosters (25 to 50 Bucks).

    • @QMTG
      @QMTG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wow. Yeah, buy singles then!

    can you use the collector's cards to play?

    When there are multiple paragraphs on each card, there is no such thing as beginner product.

  • @Zjivarra

    My opinion... Commander is not a great starting point if you’ve never played a TCG card game.
    • Step 1 : Help a beginner download Arena to do the tutorial and learn the basics.😮
    • Step 2 : Buy bulk commons, and make pauper decks with them, or custom jumpstart packs to play and build a pauper cube to draft with them. My way is to get a box of commons from 2-3 sets only, and build a cube and decks from that because fewer keywords and mechanics to learn, and more intented synergies.
