    Old mate spends half his sanity to find a problem that can be fixed by wiping away some grime with his fingers. Then posts a video to save everyone else the same trouble. Not all hero's wear capes.

    Thank you very much, we never open the sunroof. It rained very hard and water came in. Searched for a leaky roof Rav4, found your video, went to the car, checked on the drains and sure enough, the passenger side had mud clogging the drain. I'm sure that was the reason. thank you so much for saving us a lot of money and headache. Truly appreciate you taking the time to do this video.

    Thanks for your video. It was really helpful but my MK2 Rav4 had a different solution. The water was leaking from the sunroof rails where the screws are. I put some silicone sealant over and around the screws and the plastic and metal connections and it got fixed. I also put silicone on the metal drain nozzle and at the connection with the plastic tube just to be sure. I hope future users who search for a solution will read my comment and fix their cars too.

      Thank you for this! I’m having the same issue. 2015 rav and coming inside through the sun visor screws.. sounds like that’s my issue.. I’ll try that!

    I have had the same problem. I filed a complaint with Toyota, I suggest everyone does the same thing! This should be a recall. Also filed a complaint with the NTSB.

    I watched at least 12 videos for various problems and this one helped!!! Thank you. I put blue antifreeze up there as suggested by another video. The antifreeze sat so I got a thin reusable straw pipe cleaner and stuck it in the hole where u showed but on the passenger side and it immediately drained. Blueness on my driveway!!!
    You saved me money and tears! Thank u!!
    Now to just dry my soaked carpets 🤢

    Thank you! Wife's rav4 started leaking in this way and I had thought the windshield gasket was gone. Turns out the drain was covered by leaves and pine needles. Easy fix.

    I had water on both of the fron "A' columns in my Rav4 and this was the culprit. Opened sunroof and saw ponded water. Used a pipe cleaner to unclog them and then flushed with water. Seems to have solved problem. THANK YOU!

    THANK YOU!!!!!! Took two minutes. Been getting rained on for several weeks and putting garbage bags over the sunroof dreading taking it in to see how much it was going to be to fix! This totally did the trick. I used a piece of pine straw to clear the tube and put everything went!!!

    2 cents advice:
    Never open sunroof/moonroof when is extremely hot or extremely cold. It damages the rubber around. Never let the tree leaves breakdown on top of your car, the debris get stuck in the rails.

    1st off, I’m so happy I found this video. Thank you for sharing. I’ve had the exact same problem, water on the floor, boards, and fogged up windows.
    But I have an additional problem, and maybe you all can help. I think I let the problem linger for too long, and maybe let water damage my sunroof motor… because now my sunroof is acting up. Opening by itself and not letting me close it sometimes. I had to put plastic over the sunroof until I can see a mechanic, (not cool) but after watching this video, I think I should look to see if it’s clogged first and then address the problem of the glitch in the sunroof opening by itself. Any thoughts?

    (Like the comment below about a pipe cleaner...) no debris at top of drain, but the clog was in the drain tube. Wire or pipe cleaner was necessary to clear it. BUT YOU PUT ME ON THE TRAIL! Thanks.

    • @Cm-de5sb
      @Cm-de5sb ปีที่แล้ว

      dont use a wire, it can poke a hole you can't get too and it will leak and can cause electrical problems. Use an air hose and try blowing it out from above after clearing as much as possible at the top of the drain with your finger, or very carefully with a q-tip.

  • @kinsolaful

    Just noticed some moisture inside me moonroof that dripped onto the passenger seat. It's been happening a while because the metal frame of the window is corroded under the paint at a couple points. I think you found my problem, and I'll see if I can't fix. Thanks!

    Does anyone know the correct location for where the water should exit under the car? I cleared the lines, but the water seems to be draining out through two pieces of pressed metal. Should the water drain through the body like that or is there an actual spout?

    Just discovered wet headliner on driver and passenger sides in my 2019 Rav4- dealer wants $138 to unclog. Is there supposed to be a good seal between the metal roof and rubber? I’m about fed up with the dealer wanting lots of $$$$$$$$

    • @tamaraparks4827
      @tamaraparks4827 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the same problem and was told by the service director that the sunroof DOES NOT seal completely and is made to drain through the tubes in the front and back. Not sure why they would design it this way. My Nissan Murano did not work this way and I never had leak even after 12 years.

    • @craig9843
      @craig9843 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tamaraparks4827 found out that it’s the roof rails and not the sunroof after the dealer tracked it down. $2100 repair but thank goodness Toyota covered it outside of warranty.

      @tamaraparks4827 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@craig9843 Yes, mine was the rails as well and they replaced them. It is still leaking so now they are going to look at the sunroof drainage system.
