He also gave both Lafayette and Jefferson different ‘Colors’ that if you're new to the show, you'll definitely think they have different actors. So yeah. TLDR: Daveed Diggs is an amazing actor and deserves more award and recognition.
When I first saw the musical I didn't hear "What'd I Miss" clearly and therefore didn't connect the cast singing "Thomas Jefferson" to the appearance of Daveed and till Jefferson is saying "did you forget Lafayette?" I didn't realize Daveed wasn't still playing Lafayette 😅

But Lafayette has a not-so-good reputation in France, he ended up not really supporting the people of France during their revolt like in America because he was a part of France's high society. He ended up being considered a hypocrite in France and supporting the people AND the Monarchy. Oops. Anyway, he ended up fleeing for his life to Austria and getting bailed out of there by Angelica. Yes, THAT Angelica. In a weird way, Hamilton made good on his claim that he will be there for him, just not how we expected it. I love a good plot twist.
