I love his reactions to the transitions between each of the songs. Like he's marvelling at Al's skill and speed the whole way through, but then you get the smooth shift from one song to the next and he's like 'holy shit how'd he make that work so well?'
Friendly reminder that back in the 80s and 90s (when Miranda grew up) an artist getting a spoof by weird al was a huge sign that you made it. I can only imagine what that felt like to him

Doing the fastest raps from Hamilton EVEN FASTER? Sure I might be able to do that. But doing the fastest raps from Hamilton even faster, and in five-part harmony? No one can do that except this guy. This is just 3 minutes of Lin smiling adorably.
I agree. We need more.
Lin has been a die-hard "Weird Al" fan since he was a kid, so this is simply his inner 10-year-old freaking out.
I'm fine with that
@@Unqualifiedtake so am i
Exactly
I love his reactions to the transitions between each of the songs. Like he's marvelling at Al's skill and speed the whole way through, but then you get the smooth shift from one song to the next and he's like 'holy shit how'd he make that work so well?'
This should be called "Hamilton in 3 minutes"
Lin On stage: prepared and Manly

Weird Al always wins!
Ahaajhasas I was going to say that
This was the moment Lin knew he'd finally made it big.
Friendly reminder that back in the 80s and 90s (when Miranda grew up) an artist getting a spoof by weird al was a huge sign that you made it. I can only imagine what that felt like to him
This. This is why I'm happy about this.
I think it was Dave Grohl who said - "you KNOW you've made it when Weird Al does a parody of your song
what do you mean was
I think Lin is realizing what Weird Al fans have known all along: Al and his band are terrific musicians. Also, they’re funny and supah-smaht.
He was a fan of Weird Al as a kid!
I misread the word ‘terrific’ as ‘terrible’ and I was about to start a war
If you didn't know, he works with the same exact people he worked with over 40 years ago
Are you from Maine?
Darwin Kochis 🤣 No, actually Alabama. But I did go to boarding school in Nyew Hampshuh. Wicked awesome.
Can we just acknowledge what a great writer Lin is? Hearing this version, I’m just blown away by the brilliance of these lyrics.
"Blown away" I see what you did there
The best parts are watching him react to the transitions and alternating amidst blushing, getting teary eyed and childlike delight.
I'm pretty sure I caught at least one "okay, breathe and calm down a little, or we're gonna sob" moment!
How is this a year old? I’ve only heard it for the first time yesterday.
The polka version itself came out a few years ago. The lip synch version to the musical itself is new. 🙂🙂
Maybe it was meant to be heard now. Seems more relevant. Peace. Be cool. Be safe. Be vote.

Oh no im singing along with every word
True tho
My friends looking at me when we all watch it virtually on discord:
ok but 2:10 was legit my reaction to the live footage
I just need to make one thing clear. Yes, Weird Al can rap, we all knew that he's a musical genius. However, doing the fastest raps from Hamilton is one thing. I can do that. Doing the fastest raps from Hamilton EVEN FASTER? Sure I might be able to do that. But doing the fastest raps from Hamilton even faster, and in five-part harmony? No one can do that except this guy. That's the reason for Lin's "oh shit" faces.
This comment is half props to weird al, and half subtle brags about this dudes rapping skills 😂
Pyrocinical he’s efficient with his comments
Guns and Ships isnt that hard to rap, i learned it in two days and i can sing it faster than Daveed Diggs....
@@coachoikawa4951 But guns and ships Wasn't the only fast rap part there. The way he sang Jefferson's part in "Washington on your side" was faster than how he sang it.
@@__lynx259 Yeah, that and Satisfied are *also* easy, so....
THIS is how musical artists should be, inspiring and borrowing each other's works respectfully and having fun with it. This is so wholesome.

I"d just listened to Al Yankovic's parody and wondered what Lin Manuel thought. Thanks for posting this.

Lin is one part stunned at how insane the arrangement is, one part in awe of Weird Al’s skills, and one part humbled that Weird Al made a medley cover of his work.
I was able to determine that on the spot just by watching Lin’s excellent facial expressions.
His facial expressions just radiate: I’ve never been so happy
This is a good reminder that even your heroes have heroes.

XD so great I got to hear that parody along side him (mostly) in this video.
Most other artists: How dare you ruin my song?!
Lin: Oh god this is a masterpiece
Nobody says that because Al gets their permission and pays them.
Almost no one is upset by a parody from weird al
@@zoeym4868 does he pay them? I've never heard that. I know its not necessary by law. Parody is fair.
@@DevinAK49 Literally only Coolio, because there was a miscommunication, and he got over it.
@@DevinAK49 He pays them. It actually isn't clear weather song parodies as the ones done by Weird Al are fair use (the definition of fair use is a bit loose and there are no precedents) so it is better for him to pay part of the proceeds to the original artists than risk a long and costly legal battle that if he loses might end his career. It also helps him keep good relationship with the music industry
“Washington On Your Side” is barely changed to be honest lol
Ok though why did Washington on your side kinda already sound like this Tho--
Lin-Manuel Miranda was born in 1980. Weird Al's Eat It came out in 1984. This means he grew up listening to Weird Al.
