Ugh I love all of these so much, especially the reprise of Dear Theodosia (ducking tore my heart out, smashed it up and then pulverised it) and Congratulations (literally a masterpiece I don't know what else to say). I didn't know anything about this period of history before Hamilton (I'm from the uk, so I never encountered it in my classes) but these songs add so much background, fill the holes and make the characters seem much more rounded - especially Eliza and Burr. Honestly, compared to the beats of the other songs, they wouldn’t fit very well.
They may have cut some of Eliza's earlier prominence so that Burn hits harder. She chose to erase her early days, and so only the barest details appear. She chose not to be part of Hamilton's story.

Ugh I love all of these so much, especially the reprise of Dear Theodosia (ducking tore my heart out, smashed it up and then pulverised it) and Congratulations (literally a masterpiece I don't know what else to say). I didn't know anything about this period of history before Hamilton (I'm from the uk, so I never encountered it in my classes) but these songs add so much background, fill the holes and make the characters seem much more rounded - especially Eliza and Burr. Even Ten Things, One Thing shows that Hamilton really cared about those he loved, and he wasn't purely career focused. I love this so much aaaah
